[prov.] A Tuesday in January, auspicious. தைப்பிறப்பு, s. [com. தைமாதப்பிற ப்பு.] New year's day, astronomically; observed by boiling rice, to propitiate the favor of the sun, supposed to commence, at that time, his course northward. தைப்பிறை, s. The new moon as seen in January, observed to ascertain whether the year will be fruitful. தைப்பூசம், s. The day when the moon is in the பூசம், in January, being an auspicious time for eating the first rice, bathing, and taking oblations to the temple. தைப்பொங்கல், s. To nail, to fasten boards, beams, &c., with nails, spikes, or pegs; to pin, to skewer, to run leaves together, ஆணிமுதலி யனதைக்க. 3. To net with a netting needle, வலைபின்ன. 4. [with தொகை.] To cast or add up; to close an account, as தொகைதைக்க. As v. n. க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க,-- in the 3d pers. neut. The seam of the garment is ripped. தையல்வேலை, s. Stitching, needle work. பெரும்படித்தையல். Coarse sewing. சிறுதையல். Nice or neat sewing. கெட்டித்தையல். A double seam. தையலூசி, s. A sewing needle, in distinction from one for knitting. தையல்தைக்க, inf. To sew. தையல்பிரிக்க. inf. To rip open a seam. தையற்காரன், s. [fem. தையற்காரி.] A tailor, a seamster, a sewer. 2. A knitter. தையற்பை, s. A bag, as தையற்பெட்டி. தையற்பெட்டி, s. A work basket or box containing things for needle work. பீற்றல்தைக்க, inf. [also கந்தைபொ த்த.] To mend a rent in a garment. வலைதைக்க, inf. To mend nets. தைப்பு--தைத்தல், v. noun. Sewing, nailing, joining two things together by sewing, or nailing, தைக்கை. 2. Strength, சத்து. (c.) இந்தமரந்தைலஞ்செத்தது. The tree has lost its juice or strength. தைலக்காப்பு, v. noun. Anointing an idol, &c., with fragrant oil. See எண் ணெய்க்காப்பு. தைலக்காரன், s. An apothecary, தை லம்விற்போன். தைலங்கூட்ட, inf. To distil essential oil. தைலபீதம், s. The gum of the red wooded or country fig-tree, அத்திப்பிசின், Ficus racemosa. தைலமாட்ட, inf.
