vāṉm (p. 387) s. The atmosphere, firmament, heaven, ஆகாயம். [improp. மானம்.] 2. Rain, மழை; [ex Sa. Vana, water.] 3. Heavenly bodies. வானம்பாடி, appel. n. A sky-lark. வானவரம்பன், s. A title of the Sera kings as having a lofty boundary, சேரன்; [ex வரம்பு.] (சது.) வானவர், s. Gods, celestials. வானவருறையுள், s. Residence of the celestials. (c.) வானவர்முதுவன்--வானோர்முதுவன், s. A title of the Sera kings, சேரன். (சது.) 2. An epithet of Brahma, பிரமன். வானவன், s. Any heavenly being of the male sex. 2. (சது.) As வானவர்முது வன். வானவில், s. The rain-bow. வானோர், s. The celestials of different orders. வானோர்கணம், 1. நவவானோர்கணம். The nine orders in heaven according to Romanists: 1. பத்திச்சுவாலிகர், seraphs; 2. ஞானாதிக்கர், cherubim; 3. பத்திராசனர், those who surround the throne of God --These are considered to be invested with, dignity of the first order; 4. நாத கிருத்தியர், those employed on gracious errands, messengers; 5. சத்துவகர் or சத்தி கர், celestial powers; 6. பலத்தவர், those averting evils--These are considered as invested with dignity of the second order; 7. பிதாத்மிகர், principalities or princes of earthly kingdoms; 8. அதிதூதர், archangels; 9. தூதர், angels, ministering spirits.
