intiriyam (p. 46) s. [contracted into இந்தியம்.] An organ of sense, or organ of the body, பொறி; [ex இந்திர, the soul or self, or what is with difficulty restrained by the soul.] There are three kinds of இந்திரியம், or sensual organs; viz.: those of perception, those of action and the intellectual organs. Wils. p. 133. INDRYA. I. ஞானேந்திரியம், the organs of sense or perception are five; viz.: 1. சக்கு, சட்சு or கண், the eye, the organ of sight having உருவம் or visible forms as its object. 2. சோத்திரம் or செவி, the ear, the organ of hearing, having சத்தம், (sound) as its object. 3. ஆக்கிராணம் or மூக்கு, the nose, the organ of smelling, having கந்தம், (odors) as its object. 4. சிங்குவை or நா, the tongue, the organ of tasting, having இரசம், (flavors) as its object. 5. தொக்கு or துவக்கு or உடம்பு, the surface of the body, the organ of feeling, having பரிசம், (touch or contact) as its object. II. கன்மேந்திரியம், or organs of actions are five; viz.: 1. வாக்கு, the mouth or organ of speech. 2. பாதம், the feet. 3. பாணி, the hands. 4. பாயுரு, the anus. 5. உபஸ்தம், the genitals. III. அந்தக்கரணம் or அந்தரிந்திரியம், the intellectual powers are four; viz.: 1. மனம், the organ of thought or perception, emotion. 2. புத்தி, understanding, conception, reason, intellect--the organs of examination, investigation, reflection, comparison, device, experiment. 3. ஆங்காரம், emotion, self-importance, inflation, presumption, energy, impulse, the organ of excitement, resolution, effort, &c. 4. சித்தம், volition, will, purpose, determination, that power of the mind which leads to the accomplishment of objects. 2. The sperm, seed of men, விந்து. இந்திரியகோசரம், s. Perceptibleness, capability of being determined by the senses, இந்திரியத்துக்குவிஷயமாகுகை. Wils. p. 132. INDRYAGOCHARA. இந்திரியக்காட்சி--இந்திரியப்பிரத் தியட்சம், s. Evidence of the senses. இந்திரியத்துவாரம், s. The inlets or avenues of the senses--as means of perception. இந்திரியநிக்கிரகம், s. The subjugation of the passions, இந்திரியமடக்குகை. இந்திரியநுகர்ச்சி, s. Enjoyment of sense, இந்திரியானுபவம். இந்திரியாசங்கம், s. Stoicism, detachment from sensual objects, விஷயவெ றுப்பு; [ex ஆசங்கை, doubt.] 18) *

uṉ (p. 69) --உன்னு, உன்னுகிறேன், உன் னினேன், உன்னுவேன், உன்ன, v. a. To think, consider, exercise volition, to be anxious, நினைக்க. 2. To exert force--as in rising, leaping, &c., விரைந்தெழும்ப. 3. To pull, இழுக்க. 4. [prov.] To propel a swing by the joint effort of two persons stationed on opposite sides, உந்த. குதிரையுன்னிப்பாய்ந்தது. The horse sprang and leaped. பேசவுன்னுகிறான். He is just on the point of speaking (his mouth open, the words on his tongue, &c.). ஊ, s. One of the long vowels, நெட்டுயிரெழுத்திலொன்று. 2. cittam (p. 182) s. Will, volition, one of the four faculties of the mind, உட்கரணநான்கி னொன்று. 2. Purpose, determination, resolution, pleasure, choice, உள்ளக்கருத்து. (c.) 3. The mind or heart as the seat of affection, காருண்ணியமனம். W. p. 325. CHITTA. 4. An established truth; a tenet or doctrine maintained by certain authorities, சித்தாந் தம். 5. Truth, certainty, உண்மை. 6. One of the twenty-seven astrological Yogas, யோகமிருபத்தேழிலொன்று. W. p. 924. SIDD'HA. 7. One of the twenty-eight Saiva Agamas, ஆகமமிருபத்தெட்டிலொன்று. உம்முடையசித்தம். According to your pleasure, as you please. சித்தத்தின்படி--சித்தமானபடி. According to one's pleasure, choice, &c. தங்கள் சித்தமெங்கள்பாக்கியம். Your pleasure is the source of our happiness; if you will it, we are made happy. சித்தசமாதானம், s. Certainty or steadfastness of mind in religion. 2. Peace of mind, tranquility, calmness. சித்தசமுசயம், s. Doubt of mind, hesitation, indetermination. (p.) சித்தசாந்தி, s. Stoical tranquility of mind, extinction of volitional feeling, &c., as attained by the ஞானி. (p.) சித்தசலனம், s. Agitation of mind, perturbation, disgust. See சலனம். சித்தஸ்வாதீனம், s. Command of one's will, self-control. சித்தஞ்செய்ய, inf. To settle, decide, give a final judgement, தீர்மானிக்க. 2. To will, desire; to direct, command; to be pleased, ஆக்கியாபிக்க. 3. To make ready, தயார்பண்ண. (Colloq.) சித்தத்தியாகம்--சித்தநிவர்த்தி, s. [prov.] Renunciation, entire subjection or extinction of the will and of secular purposes, resolves, desires, &c.,--as attained by severe abstract devotion in one ripening for liberation from births; absolute quiescence. See தியாகம். சித்தத்திற்கொள்ள, inf. To will, resolve, purpose, choose, prefer. சித்தந்திரும்ப--சித்தம்வர, inf. To be pleased to do, &c. (c.) சித்தப்பிரமை, s. Aberration of mind, infatuation, fascination, stupefaction, bewilderment, மனமயக்கு. 2. Derangement, madness; [ex பிரமை, stupor.] சித்தமாக, inf. To will, to desire; to purpose, resolve. (c.) சித்தமிரங்க, inf. To condescend, to be pleased, to do a favor, &c. சித்தயோகம், s. [in astrol.] A conjunction of the lunar constellations with the days of the week and of the phases of the moon,-- not deemed very favorable; the twenty-first of the twenty-seven yogas, யோகமிருபத்தேழிலொ ன்று. 2. One of the three யோகம் neither favorable, nor unfavorable. See யோகம். சித்தலயம், s. Extinction of the will and identification of the soul with the Supreme, as obtained by the ascetic; [ex இலயம்.] சித்தவிலாசம், s. Increase of volitions or of yielding to desires after earthly objects--oppo. to சித்தலயம். சாத்திரசித்தம், s. The sentiment or meaning of the shastras. 2. niṉai (p. 277) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To think, consider, reflect, யோசிக்க. 2. To meditate, contemplate, சிந்திக்க. 3. To extend, design, have in view, எண்ண. 4. To know one's thoughts, views, wishes or intentions. நினைப்பாயிருக்க, inf. To be mindful, cautious, attentive, thoughtful. நினைப்பாளி, appel. n. A person with a good memory, ஞாபகமுடையோன். நினைப்புக்கூட்ட, inf. To collect one's thoughts. 2. To remind another. நினைப்புமறப்பு, v. noun. Remembrance and forgetfulness. நினைப்பூட்ட, inf. To put in mind, to remind, ஞாபகமுண்டாக்க. 2. To suggest, to awaken attention, நினைவுறுத்த. 211)
