To ooze through, percolate, filter, distil, கசிய. 4. To run or spread--as ink in paper, as dampness in land around a spring; to become moist, மைமுதலியவூற. 5. To form, become collected--as milk in the breast, toddy in palm flowers, &c., பால்முதலியனசுரக்க. 6. To form as raw flesh in a sore, to heal, காயத்திலூன்வளர. 7. To increase--as flesh in a person who has been wasted by disease, to increase by slow degrees, மெலி ந்தவுடல்தேற. (c.) தொட்டளைத்தூறுமணற்கேணிமாந்தர்க்குக் கற்றனைத் தூறுமறிவு. The more you dig in a sandy soil the more does the water spring forth; so the more you apply to science the more your knowledge will increase. கற்கவூறுங்கலைஞானம். By learning, knowledge is increased. இறைத்தகிணறூறும்இறையாக்கிணறூறாது. Water issues from the springs of a well constantly drawn, but from one not drawn, it ceases to do so; i. e. the more one gives, the more will be given to him. ஊறணி, s. A fountain, a spring of water, ஊற்று. 2. [prov.] Good, moist land where water oozes out, கசிவுநிலம். 3. Wet, marshy, or brackish lands, சேற்று நிலம். 4. Income, property stored up, வருவாய் (probably a corruption of ஊ றுநீர்). ஊறவூறக்கறக்க, inf. To milk the cow as fast as the milk forms. 2. To obtain money from a person as fast as he gets it. ஊறவைக்க, inf. To steep, pickle, imbue, macerate. ஊறுகாய், s. Pickled fruits, அடை காய். ஊறுநீர், s. Spring-water, ஊற்று நீர். ஊறுபுண், s. A healing wound, ஆறிவரும்புண். தேனூறுமலர், s. The honey forming flower. ஊறல், v. noun. Oozing as from a sore, &c., percolation, discharge, issue, ஊறுகை. 2. s. A small spring, springwater, ஊற்று. 3. oṟṟumai (p. 84) s. Union, coalescence, concord, contact, agreement, unison, ஒரு மை. 2. Oneness, sameness, participation of the same qualities, வேறன்மை. 3. Peculiarity, peculiar rights, relation, propriety, உரிமை. 4. Application of mind to one object, close attention, marking with the mind, மனமொன்றுகை. 5. Compound, mixture, கலப்பு. ஒற்றுமைகொள்ளுநெஞ்சனாய். Having the powers of mind concentrated in divine meditation-- (சேதுப்.) எல்லாருமொற்றுமைப்பட்டிருக்கிறார்கள். ōṭu (p. 84) கிறேன், ஓடினேன், வேன், ஓட, v. n. To run, flee, flee away, pass quickly, விரைந்துசெல்ல. 2. [used with the impers. terminations.] To grow long, extend, be long, go far, நீள. 3. To divide, split, crack, வெடிக்க. ஓடவுமாட்டான் பிடியுங்கொடான். He will neither run, nor suffer himself to be caught. அவனுக்குஎழுத்துநடையோடாது. He cannot read freely. ஊரோடுகையிலொக்கவோடு. Run when your fellow-countrymen do; i. e. do as others do. வேரோடுகிறது. The root runs (into the ground). கப்பலோடுகிறது. The ship is sailing, is under sail. ஓடவைத்தல், v. noun. Refining metals, புடம்வைத்தல். இழிவினோடொன்றிநின்றவாடகத்தையோடவைக் குமாறுபோல். As refining gold spoiled by mixture with the same metal of inferior quality. (பார.) ஓடவைத்தபொன், s. To go about, to endeavor. அவன்ஒருஉத்தியோகத்திற்கோடியாடிப்பார்க்கிறா ன். He goes about in pursuit of a situation. ஓடியுறைய, inf. To congeal gradually, இறுக--chiefly used in the past. கஷாயமெல்லாமோடியுறைந்தது. The decoction is all congealed. ஓடிவர, inf. To approach at a running pace. ஓடிவிறைக்க, inf. To extend--as stiffness over the body through cold, முழுதும்விறைக்க. ஓடிவெளிக்க, inf. [prov.] To be dispelled--as clouds; to clear--as the sky, முகில்பரந்தொழிய. 2. To be discovered--as fraud, theft, &c., களவுவெளிப்பட. அவர்வஞ்சகமெல்லாமோடிவெளித்துப்போயிற்று. He has discovered the imposition, &c. மழையோடிவெளித்துப்போயிற்று. To crect a stone at a funeral ceremony (a சாச்சடங்கு, personifying a deceased ancestor, whose spirit is supposed to enter and remain in it while the ceremonies are performed. A deification of the soul is supposed to take place and the stone is made an object of worship, சிலைதாபிக்க. கல்லுவைத்துப்பார்க்க, inf. A stone cutting, engraving in stones, சிலாசாதனம். 2. A stanza, foretelling or commemorating some important event; such stanzas appear sometimes to have been engraven in stone (whence the name), a recorded prediction, அழியாதசொல். 3. [prov.] A stanza commemorative of the death of an ancestor, mentioning the day and hour of the moon when it happened, kept by the descendants to assist in determining the precise time for the annual funeral rites, புகழ்ச்சிசெய்யுள். 4. [prov.] The mane of a well-known stanza, believed to have been written during the period of a Tamil Dynasty in Ceylon, foretelling, as it is interpreted, a succession of different foreign powers, and the final restoration of native rule, in those regions. It is as follows: முன்னைக்குளக்கோட்டன்மூட்டுந்திருப்பணியைப்பின்னைப்பரங்கிபிரிப்பனே--மன்னா கேள்--பூனைக் கண்செங்கண்புகைக்கண்ணனாண்டபின்பு--மரனே வடுகாய்வரும். 'The sacred edifices which the king Koolakottan reared, the Portuguese will demolish, listen O king-after the reign of the cat-eyed, the redeyed and the smoke-eyed, O thou deereyed, the Vaduca will succeed.' There is a different version of the last line, but it does not affect the general meaning-the smoke-eyed are said to be the present dominant power. கல்வெள்ளி, s.
