cāy (p. 178) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To cause to incline, lean, slope, &c., to tilt up, or raise on one side, சாயச்செய்ய. 2. To turn or give a new direction to a body of men; to drive, take away a herd or a single beast, ஓட்டிக்கொண்டுபோக. 3. To cause to recline, or lie down, உடலைச்சாய்க்க. 4. To cast, to run metals in bars, in the rough, &c., to be wrought afterward, உருக் கிச்சாய்க்க.--Note. The addition of கொள்ள gives a reflective sense to the verb in this, and similar cases. (c.) 5. [loc.] To steer a vessel toward the shore, கரையடுத்தோட்ட. 6. To bias or prejudice one, to excite or induce partiality, to warp, to turn, மனஞ் சாயப்பண்ண. 7. (p.) To rout, discomfit, defeat, to kill in battle, தோற்கப்பண்ண. சாய்த்துக்கொண்டுநடத்தல், v. noun. Walking in a leaning posture. (c.) செவிசாய்க்க, inf. To incline the ear, to give attention--as a deity or great person. மாடுசாய்க்க, inf. To drive cows or bullocks for grazing. தலைசாய்க்க, inf. To bow the head in obeisance, or reverence. 2. To hang the head, through discontent and disapprobation, தலைகவிள. கப்பல்சாய்த்தோட்டுதல், v. noun. Causing a ship, in sailing, to lean over. காரியத்திற்சாய்த்துவிட, inf. [prov.] To connive at a thing, சாடையாயிருக்க. 2. To be indulgent to a person. வெட்டிச்சாய்க்க, inf. To cut down a tree. 2. (fig.) To kill one outright. 18)
