cẕi (p. 173) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. To be pressed out of form; to be distorted, twisted, sunk, crushed down on one side, கீழேய மர்ந்துபிரிய. 2. To become crumpled, wrinkled, decayed by age--as things, தளர. (c.) தேகஞ்சழிந்துபோயிற்று. The body is become crumpled. சழிவு, v. noun. Being crushed down on one side, distortion, crumple. சழிவுநெளிவு, s. Crookedness and distortion. (c.) 17)

tākku (p. 232) கிறேன், தாக்கினேன், வேன், தாக்க, v. n. and v. a. To strike, beat, hit, dash against, beat down; to jerk, to twitch, அடிக்க. 2. To avenge, to revenge, பழிவாங்க. 19. To fall heavily on one, as charges, expenses, profits, &c., on goods coming upon the last buyer, சுமத்த. 2. To hobble, to limp, நெளிக்க. --Note. Most of the meanings are used in cant. மனதிலேதாக்கவில்லை. This has not reached the mind. பழையகோபமெல்லாம்வைத்துத்தாக்குகிறார். Keeping in mind all his old grudges, he is now revenging himself. சரீரத்திலேதாக்கும். It will have lasting effects of he body. செலவிலேதாக்கும். Expenses will increase 2. The expence will be heavy. நிறையத்தாக்கிவிட்டான். He is quite intoxicated; (lit.) full of liquor. 14)

tuvḷ (p. 249) --துவளு, கிறது, துவண்டது, துவளும், துவள, v. n. To waver, shake, move, vacillate, to be agitated, அசைய. 2. To be flexible slender, weak, unable to sustain a weight--as a tender tree, or (fig.) a lady's waist, &c., மெல்லியதாயிருக்க. 3. To fall, faint, droop under a load, &c., திவள. (See சவளு 4. To wrap, bend, shrink, twist, as boards in the sun, &c. நெளிய. 5. To become thick and dry as curry. இறுக. 6. To become rumpled, deprived of gloss, as a new-cloth, கசங்க. 7. (in an impersonal sense.) To stick to, adhere, as oil, thick liquid, dust, or coloring matter, to the hand or a cloth; to stain, blot, color, soil, daub, smear, ஒட்ட. 8. To become dry, as plants under a scorching sun, வாட. (c.) குழந்தைஅல்லித்தண்டுபோலத்துவண்டுகிடக்கிறது. The child is weak as the stalk of a lily. துவளாமல்காரியம்பார்க்க. To manage another's business without deriving any profit to one's self. To get business done without expense. பாலைத்துவளக்காய்ச்சினான். He boiled the milk until it was thick. துவணீர், s. Filth, slimy matter about a new born infant; [ex நீர்.] துவளச்சமைக்க, inf. To make curry thick. துவட்சி--துவளல், v. noun. Being thin, slender, flexible, shaking as unable to bear a weight, &c., மெலிவு. 71) *

neṟi (p. 281) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To stand erect, to become stiff, to bristle, செவ்வேநிற்க. 2. To lower, to be raised, as the eye-brows in anger, &c., புருவம்நெளிக்க. 3. To be curled in ringlets, as the long hair of some women, மயிர்சுருள. 4. v. a. க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க. To frown, to turn up the nose in displeasure, கோபத்துடன்பார்க்க. 5. To prick up the ears, as beasts; to erect the head, as animals, செவிநிமிர்்த்த. 6. To stiffen, to bristle, சிலுப்ப. நெறிகுழல்--நெறித்தகூந்தல். Erect and wavy hair-locks. (p.) நெறித்தபுருவம். neḷi (p. 281) s. [loc. முடக்கு.] A finger-ring with a curve, worn by women, ஓர்மோதிரம்; [ex நெளி, v.] (சது.) நெளிமோதிரம், s. A kind of fingerring. 4)

neḷi (p. 281) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், நெளிய, v. n. To crawl with an undulating motion--as snakes, worms, maggots, &c., ஊர. 2. To writhe as the body through pain, to distort the limbs, &c., as a child, showing airs, கெந்த. 3. To hitch, move or shift from its place as an infant, நகர. 4. It is bent, applied to a tool, &c. பாதைநெளிந்துகொண்டுபோகிறது. The way is crooked. நெளிந்தஎழுத்து, s. Crooked, straggling letters in writing. நெளிந்துகொடுக்க, inf. [vul.] To incline or bend, as a tall palankeen bearer to be level with a shorter, to shrink from blows, &c. நெளிந்துகொண்டுநிற்க, inf. To stand in a lounging or affected posture. நெளிவு, v. noun. Crawling, writhing, flexture, &c., as the verb. நெளிவெடுக்க, inf. To mend any thing bent or warped, to correct an irregularity. 2. To make a flexure, commonly to a ring, நெளி. 5)

neḷi (p. 281) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. and v. a. To cause to bend, incline, twist, வளைக்க. 2. To bend, wriggle or distort the body in walking, commonly in affectation, அசைக்க. 3. To make proud, disdainful, affected gestures, in contempt of one; to mimic, நிமிர்ந்துநடக்க. 4. To be insolent, கர்வங்காட்ட. (c.) எழுத்தைநெளித்தெழுதுகிறான். He makes crooked letters in writing. இடுப்பைநெளித்துநடக்கிறான். She walks with a wriggling motion of the hips. நெளித்துநடக்க--நெளித்துக்கொண்டுந டக்க, inf. To walk struttingly, or with affected motions. 2. To walk with a distorted gait. நெளிப்பு, v. noun. Distorted or affected motions of the body, flirting or tossing the head, or making other gestures in disdain. நெளிப்புக்காட்டல், v. noun. Making affected gestures, as நெளி, 3. நெளிப்புக்காரன், s. A strutter, a fop. நெளிப்புப்பேசுதல், v. noun Speaking comtemptuously or slightingly of one, or of his performances. 6)

neḷiyl (p. 281) s. [com. நெளிசல்.] Crookedness or deformity, any thing crooked; [ex நெளி, v.] நெளியலன், s. [fem. நெளியலி.] A crooked man, கூனன். நெளியலெடுக்க, inf. [prov.] To take out a bend, &c., as நெளிவெடுக்க. 8)
