māṟu (p. 351) கிறேன், மாறினேன், வேன், மாற, v. n. To become changed, exchanged, altered, reversed, cured; corrected in state, place, form, appearance, வேறுபட. 2. [improp. for மாற்று.] To change money, as மாறிக்கொ ண்டவன், he who has changed [a rupee]. 3. To lose an employment, with the dative of the person, as அவனுக்குத்தியோகம்மாறிப்போ யிற்று. 4. [in combin.] To change, as மாறி விழ, to draw back from a promise; மாறிவிழு ந்துபேசுகிறது, to tergiversate. 5. v. a. To whip with a rod, அடிக்க. 6. To exchange goods; to barter, பொருள்மாற. 7. To multiply numbers, எண்பெருக்க. 8. [prov.] To deny, மறுக்க. (c.) மரங்காய்த்துமாறிப்போயிற்று. The tree has ceased to bear fruit. அவனுக்குத்தியோகம்மாறிப்போயிற்று. His office passed out of his hands. மாறி, appel. n. [in combin.] One who barters goods. 2. A double-dealing person-as பெட்டைமாறி. மாறிப்போட, inf. To change, மாற்ற. மாறியடிக்க, inf. To whiffle, shift about as wind. மாறிவிழ, inf. To fall headlong. 2. (R.) To draw back. மாறிவிழுந்துபேசுகிறது. Varying in one's word or speech, tergiversating. மாறிவைக்க, inf. To put a thing out of order. மாறினவன், appel. n. [improp. for மாற்றி னவன்.] He that has changed money, &c. 2. One who has changed his habits. மாறல், v. noun. Moving, ஆடல். 2. Ceasing, being excepted, தவிர்தல். 3. Leaving, விடுதல். 4. Selling, விற்றல். (சது.) 5. An optative form--as மாறுக, let (me, thee, him, her, or it) change; also the plural, let us, &c., also a negative of the same optative form. 6. Changing from one form to another, வேறுபடல். 7. mṟi (p. 346) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To stop, detain, arrest, check, confine, imprison, தடுக்க. 2. To turn about, திருப்ப. (c.) 3. To turn upside down, to upset, மேல்கீழாக்க. மந்தையைமறித்துவை. Prevent the herd from going astray. கடன்காரன் அவனை மறித்துக்கொண்டான். The creditor arrested him [on the way]. மறி--மறிப்பு, v. noun.
