maṭam (p. 339) s. Ignorance, அறிவீனம். 2. Female simplicity, artlessness, as மடமை; [from Sa. Mat'ha, to be confused in mind.] மடக்கிளி, s. A parrot, as resembling a woman in its talk. மடக்குயில், s. The koil bird, likened to a woman for sweetness of its voice. மடக்கொடி, s. [poetice.] A tender, young, married woman; [ex கொடி.] மடத்தனம், s. [also மடைத்தனம்.] Simplicity, weakness of mind, natural to a female. 2. Stupidity, dulness. மடநல்லார், s. [pl.] Women, as weakminded, பெண்கள். (p.) மடப்பிடி, s. The female elephant, as resembling women in the stateliness of its gait, பெண்யானை. மடமயில், s. The peacock, as similar to a woman in some of its qualities, மயில். மடமான், s. The deer, resembling a woman in its timidity. மடமொழிமாதர், s. [pl.] Sincere, mild or soft speaking woman. மடவரல், s. A woman, பெண். (p.) மடவன்னம், s. The swan, compared to a woman for its beauty and stately walk; [ex அன்னம்.] மடவார்--மடவியர், s. [sing. மடவாள்.] Women, as sincere and simple, பெண்கள். மடவியது.
