A poem celebrating the different stages in the infancy and childhood of a hero, comprized in ten parts: 1. காப்பு, putting on the armrings, with magical rites; 2. செங்கீரை, first voluntary movements of the child compared to the motion of herbs by the breeze; 3. தால், lulling the child in the cradle with songs; 4. சப்பாணி, the first clapping of its hands; 5. முத்தம், kissing; 6. வாரானை, extending its hands and calling to be taken; 7. அம்புலி, showing the moon to the infant; 8. சிறுபறை, amusement of a small drum; 9. சிற்றில், making (in play) little houses, or trampling on those made by girls; 1. சிறுதேர். drawing little carriages.--Note. When a heroine is described, instead of the last three, the following are substituted, eighth கழங்கு, a kind of play with brass balls; ninth அம்மானை, a curious play with balls; tenth, ஊசல், swinging. There are two more compositions, bearing this title, one by குமரகுருபரதேசிகர், in praise of மீனாட்சி, the goddess at Madura; the other, by மார்க்கசகாயதேவர், of the childhood of Skanda. பிள்ளைத்தாய்ச்சி, s. Tendency of the mind, as மனப்போக்கு. மனஞ்சலித்தல். Being troubled in mind; wearied in spirit. மனத்தாராளம், s. Generosity, openheartedness; frankness. மனத்தாழ்மை, s. Humility, lowliness of mind. மனத்திடம், s. Firmness of mind, resolution, energy. மனத்திட்டம்--மனநிதானம், s. Estimate in the mind of another's abilities, or of any quantity, quality, or distance. 2. As மனநேர்மை. மனத்தியானம், s. Meditation, reflection. மனத்திருத்தி, s. Contentment, satisfaction of mind. மனத்தீமை, s. Depravity of heart. மனத்துக்கம்--மனத்துயரம், s. Grief of mind, sorrow of heart. மனத்துப்புரவு--மனத்தூய்மை, s. Purity of mind, sincerity. மனத்தெளிவு--மனத்தேற்றம், v. noun. Clearness of mind. மனநிதானம்--மனோநிதானம், s. Determination of mind, resolution. மனநிலை, s. Steadiness of mind, firmness of will. மனநிறை, s. Purity of heart, as மனத் தூய்மை. 2. Contentment, as மனத்திருத்தி. 3. Impartiality. மனநெருடு, s. Crabbedness, moroseness, sullenness, வெடுவெடுப்பு. மனநேர்மை, s. Sincerity, truth. மனநோ--மனநோவு, s. Regret, remorse; (lit.) pain of mind. மனநோக்கம், s. Aim, intention. மனநோக, inf. To regret; to feel remorse. 2. To be discontented, to repine. என்னைமனநோகச்செய்தான். He grieved me. மனந்தளம்ப, inf. To vacillate, be unstable in mind. 2. To be distressed with cares. மனந்தளர, inf. To grow discouraged or dispirited. மனந்திரித்தல்--மனந்திருப்பல், v. noun. Turning the mind, changing one's purpose. மனந்திருந்துதல். Change of mind, reformation of character. மனந்திரும்புதல். Turning of the mind. 2. [Chris. usage.] Conversion. மனப்படுத்தல், Causing to agree, persuading. (p.) மனப்பதைப்பு. Agonizing pain of mind, intense anxiety. 2. As மனோ வாஞ்சை. மனப்பற்று. Emotion. மனப்பாடம், s. A lesson learned by heart. See பாடம். மனப்பால்குடித்தல், v. noun. Indulging the imagination, fancying, (lit.) drinking the mind's milk. மனப்பிரமை--மனமருள், s. Distraction of mind, derangement. மனப்பீடை, s. Distress of mind. See பீடை. மனப்பூரணம், s. Contentment, as மன த்திருத்தி. 2. Exquisite joy, hilarity, உள் ளக்களிப்பு. 3. Ingenuousness, as மனநேர்மை. மனப்பூரிப்பு, v. noun. [inf. மனம்பூரி க்க.] Fulness of heart, excessive joy, மிகு களிப்பு. 2. Contentment, as மனப்பூரணம். மனப்பொறுப்பு. Forbearance, patience, பொறுமை. மனமகிழ்ச்சி--மனமலர்ச்சி, v. noun. [inf. மனமகிழ--மனமலர.] Cheerfulness, joy, hilarity. மனமடிவு, [inf. மனமடிக்க, com. மன மடிவாக்க.] Pain of mind, mortification, great disgust. 2. Discouragement, dispiritedness, depression, தைரியமின்மை. மனமுறிய, inf. [v. noun மனமுறிவு, aversion; sometimes மனமுறிச்சல்.] To be broken-hearted, dispirited, discouraged. அவன்என்னைமனமுறியப்பேசினான். He spoke so as to wound my feelings. மனமுறுத்த, inf. [com. மனதையுறுத்த.] To pain the mind as a sarcasm, &c. மனமேட்டிமை, s. Haughtiness of mind. மனம்பிடிக்க, inf. To be pleasing to the mind, to suit one's fancy. மனம்பேதிக்க, inf. To be at variance, to disagree in opinion. 2. To be distracted in mind, as மனங்கலங்க. மனம்பொங்குதல், v. noun. Excitement of the mind from joy, sorrow, or anger. 2. Being enraged. மனம்பொருந்த, inf. [v. noun மனப்பொ ருத்தம்.] To consent to, சம்மதிக்க. 2. To approve, to like, அங்கீகரிக்க. 3. To be in accordance with one's mind. மனம்பொறுக்க, inf. To forbear, to have patience--For the negat. see under பொறு. மனம்போனபோக்கு, v. noun. A wilful or head-strong course. மனரம்மியம், s. Contentment, as மனோ ரம்மியம். மனராசி, s. Consent of will, as மனோராசி. மனவருத்தி, s. Desire of mind, as மனவி ருப்பம். (p.) மனவலி--மனவூக்கம், s. Strength of mind; mental energy. மனவாக்குக்காயம்--மனோவாக்குக்காய ம், s. The three instruments of good or evil in man--the mind, or thoughts; organs of speech, or words; and the body, or actions. மனவிகாரம்--மனோவிகாரம், s. Aberration of mind. மனவிசனம், s. Displeasure, dissatisfaction. மனவிருப்பம்--மனோவாஞ்சை, s. The desire of the mind. 2. Choice. மனவுறுதி, s. Resolution, as மனத்திடம். மனவெரிச்சல், s. Envy, jealousy. மனவெழுச்சி, v. noun. Union, harmony, concord. மனாகுலம்--மனோகுலம்--மனவியாகுலம் --மனோவியாகுலம், s. Grief; [ex ஆகுலம்.] மனோகதி, s. Quickness of mind, acuteness of perception. மனோகரம்--மனோக்கியம், s. Beautifulness, pleasingness. 2. Desirableness. மனோசலம்--மனோசலனம், s. Emotions of mind. மனோசன்--மனோபவன்--மனோபு--மனோ யோனி--மனோற்பவன், s. Kama, the Hindu Cupid; (lit.) the mind-born. மனோசாட்சி, s. Conscience, சீவசாட்சி. மனோச்சாகம்--மனோற்சாகம், s. Freedom of mind, தன்னிஷ்டம். 2. As மனவூக் கம்; [ex உச்சாகம்.] மனோதண்டம், s. Restraint of one's passions or lustful desires. மனோதத்தம், s. A vow, &c. See தத்தம். மனோதைரியம்--மனோபலம்--மனத் தைரியம், s. Fortitude, good courage. மனோநிச்சயம்--மனோநிதானம், s. As மனநிதானம். மனோபதி, s. ??rahma's city, பிரமன் நகரம். (ஸ்காந்தம்.) மனோபவம், s. The thought of the mind; (lit.) what is born in the mind, மனசிலேபிறந்தது. மனோபாவம்--மனோபாவனை, s. Imagination, fancy, மனதாற்பாவிக்கை. 2. [usage.] The real state of the mind. மனோபிஷ்டம்--மனோபீஷ்டம், s.
