kttu (p. 92) கிறேன், கத்தினேன், வேன், கத்த, v. n. To cry with a harsh continued noise, to scream, squall--as an infant, கூவ. 2. To croak--as a frog; to caw--as a crow; to chuck--as a partridge; to scream, screach or make a harsh sound--as some birds, &c.; to chatter--as monkeys in fear, to yelp--as young dogs; to growl--as a bear; to bray--as an ass; to chuck--as young birds; to bleat--as calves; to make a reiterative sound--as some snakes, விலங் குபறவைமுதலியகத்த. 3. To chatter, to babble, to jabber, to talk in vain, பிதற்ற. 4. To roar, முழங்க. கத்திக்கத்தித்தொண்டையடைத்துப்போயிற்று. I am grown hoarse by talking so much. நாய்க்குப்பயந்துகுரங்குகத்துகிறது. The screaching of the squirrels indicates the proximity of a snake. மாரித்தவளைபோலேயேன்கத்துகிறாய். Why do you croak like a frog in the rainy season? --said of one who talks too much, or importunes unceasingly. கத்து, v. noun. Crying, bawling, கூப்பிடுகை. 2. Chattering, unmeaning or idle talk, vain babbling, nonsense, mere declamation, பிதற்றுகை.--Note. Exalted devotees use this term concerning the opinions, &c., of other sects or of those of the same sects, but inferior to themselves. சமயக்கத்து, s. The arguments or wrangling of religious disputants. 2. Religious tenets exclusive of the sublimer or experimental parts. In both meanings the usage is sarcastic, spoken by opponents or by those who have arrived at an exalted degree. பொய்ந்நூலாம்அச்சமயக்கத்தினாராதரிக்கத்தெய்வ ங்கள்வைச்சமயக்கத்தினார்வாழ்வு. tiṉai (p. 241) s. Millet, a kind of grain, ஓர்தானி யம், Panicum italicum, L. 2. (fig.) Smallness, a trifle, சிறுமை.--There are different kinds of millet, வெள்ளைத்தினை, white; அச்சித் தினை, another small kind (probably from Acheen); காட்டுத்தினை, wild; செந்தினை, red; கருந்தினை, dark; அணில்வாற்றினை, a kind of white millet with ears supposed to resemble the tall of the squirrel. தினைவிதைத்தவர்தினையறுப்பார்வினைவிதைத்தவர்வினை யறுப்பார். They that sow millet shall reap millet; they that do evil, will get evil. தினைக்கஞ்சி, s. Millet gruel, for sick persons. தினைக்குருவி, s. A small kind of bird, ஓர்சிறுகுருவி. தினைச்சாமை, s. [prov.] The தினை grain, as a species of சாமை. தினைத்தாள், s. Millet stalks or straw. தினைப்புனம்--தினைப்புலம், s. A millet field. தினைமா, s. Millet-flour. தினையரிசி, s. Husked millet. தினையளவு, s. As much as a grains of millet; i. e. a small matter. தினையளவும்உதவான். He will not help in the least. 68)

mrm (p. 344) s. A tree, shrub, plant, any growing vegetable, விருட்சம். 2. Wood, timber, வெட்டுமரம்.--Note. There are three divisions of tree, ஆண்மரம், பெண்மரம், அலி மரம், which see. (c.) மரத்துப்பழம்மரத்தடியிலேவிழும். The fruit of a tree falls near its roots; i. e. sin follows the sinner. மரக்கணு, s. A knot in a tree. மரக்கலம், s. A wood-pecker, ஓர்புள். மரச்செப்பு, s. A wooden box, பரணி. மரச்செறிவு, s. A grove, சோலை. 2. A tree in general, மரப்பொது. (சது.) மரத்துக்கிடக்க, inf. To be paralyzed, stiffened. மரத்துப்போக, inf. A large species of squirrel living in trees--different from மலையணில்; [ex அணில்.] மரவண்டு, s. A kind of boring beetle in trees. மரவள்ளி, s. Tapioca plant, Janipha Manihot. மரவாரை, s.
