cār (p. 179) --சாரு, கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், சார, v. n. To lean upon, to recline against, சாய. 2. To rest on or in, to repose on, to depend on, to adhere to, பற்றிக்கொள்ள. 3. To apply to, to resort to, to take shelter or refuge with, அடைய. 4. To approach, to approximate, to incline towards, அணுக. 5. To gain access to, to reach, to arrive at, கிட்ட. 6. To side with, to join a party ஓர்பாற்சார. 7. To be attached to, connected with, &c., அனுசாரமாக. 8. To be biassed or warped in judgment, to be partial to, நடுநிலைகோண. (c.) 9. To be adjacent, contiguous, to join, அடுக்க. 1. To come on-as events, disease, &c., சுகதுக்கங்கள்சார. 11. To tend or incline towards--as in color, smell, taste, temper, quality, &c., பொ ருந்த.--Note. The verb sometimes conveys a transitive sense. அழகுசார்ந்தபூ. The beautiful flower. (p.) நான்போய்ச்சார்ந்தவிடம். The party with which I am connected by affinity or marriage. (c.) சாரோலை--சார்வோலை, s. [prov.] A party grown palm leaf next after that last put out, முதிர்ந்தகுருத்தோலை. (R.) சார்ந்தார்--சார்ந்தோர், s. Relatives, சுற்றத்தார். 2. Friends, associates, சினேகர். தீயாரைச்சார்ந்தார்தீயராவார். Those who join with the wicked will become wicked. ஒருவரைச்சார்ந்துபிழைக்க, inf. To live by the aid of another. (c.) சார்ந்துகொள்ள, inf. To lean or recline on. 2. To have recourse to. சார்மணை, s. [loc.] Any thing to lean on or recline against--as cushions, pillows, &c.; [ex மணை.] சார்மானம், s. A thing or person to lean upon, as சாய்மானம். சார்பு, v. noun. and s. Place, இடம். 2. Help, support, patronage, protection, favor, உதவி. 3. Dependence, reliance, பற்று. 4. Place of refuge, asylum, shelter, defence, அடைக்கலம். 5. Favoritism, partiality, தயவு. 6. Bias, prejudice, வார பட்சம். 7. Approximation, கிட்டுகை. 8. Inclination, propensity, tendency, bent of mind, மனச்சாய்வு. 9. Adhesion, friendship, attachment, கூட்டுறவு. (c.) 1. Specific or distinguishing quality, nature or character, உரிமை. 11. Connection, இணைப்பு. 12. Adjacency, nearness of a place or thing, அணுகுகை. 13. Contact, coalescence, combination, junction, சேர்கை. 14. Inclining toward a color, taste, smell, dispositions, quality, &c., பொருத்தம். சார்பறுக்க, inf. To renounce social life and enter on that of an ascetic, without a wife, or with one without sexual intercourse, பற்றறுக்க. (p.) சார்பிலார், s. Ascetics, பற்றிலார். 2. Enemies, foes, பகைஞர்; [ex இலார்.] சாற்பிற்றோற்றம், s. Emanation by natural process, as offspring from the parent, saplings from the root of a tree, &c. (சிவ. சித்.) சார்புநூல், s. One of the three classes of writings, such as agree with a work in some particulars only; collateral writings. See நூல். சார்பெழுத்து, s. Dependent letters, being of ten kinds, viz. 1. உயிர்மெய். 2. ஆய்தம். 3. உயிரளபெடை. 4. ஒற்றளபெடை. 5. குற்றியலிகரம். 6. குற்றியலுகரம். 7. ஐகாரக் குறுக்கம். 8. ஔகாரக்குறுக்கம். 9. மகரக்குறுக்கம். 1. ஆய்தக்குறுக்கம். Associating with the good. நூற்சார்பு, s. Sentiments inculcated in a work. 2. The peculiar opinions or observances of a sect. நாட்டுச்சார்பு--வயற்சார்பு, s. An agricultural tract. மலைச்சார்பு, s. [com. மலஞ்சார்வு.] A hilly or mountainous tract. வனச்சார்பு, s. Forest ground, woody tract. சார்வு, v. noun. Inclination, propensity, &c. See சார்பு. 2. [prov.] The tender leaves of the palmyra or talipot; leaves next to that last shot out--as சரரோலை. 3. Intense desire, ஆசைப்பெருக்கம். 4. Vicinity, neighbourhood, &c., அயல்.
