அன்னபேதி
aṉṉpēti (p. 34) --அன்னவேதி, s. A drug, sulphate of iron or green vitriol, sulphur which is said to liquefy boiled rice, ஓர்மருந்து; [ex அன்னம், boiled rice, et பேதி.] 8) *
அன்னம்
aṉṉam (p. 34) s. Boiled rice, food in general, சோறு. Wils. p. 4. ANNA. அன்னக்களை, s. Faintness through hunger; languor on eating too much food when weak. அன்னக்காவடி, s. Boiled rice carried with ceremony under a canopy, &c. to be presented to the idol. 2. Boiled rice begged from house to house, to be distributed to mendicants. அன்னக்கொடி, s. A flag hoisted on a choultry to give notice that rice is distributed gratuitously. அன்னக்கொடை, s. Liberality in giving boiled rice. அன்னசத்திரம்--அன்னசாலை, s. A choultry where boiled rice is distributed gratuitously. அன்னசாரம்--அன்னரசம், s. The essence of food, chyle. Wils. p. 4. ANNARASA. 2. Conjee, rice-gruel, கஞ்சி. அன்னசுத்தி, s. Ghee, நெய். அன்னதாதா--அன்னதாதிரு, s. One who gives food, a charitable person. Wils. p. 4. ANNADATRU. அன்னதானம், s. The giving of boiled rice as alms; [ex தானம்.] Wils. p. 4. ANNADANA. அன்னதானப்பிரபு, s. A very liberal man who gives boiled rice daily, &c. அன்னபானம், s. Food and drink. அன்னபானாதிகள், s. Food, drink, &c. அன்னப்பாகு, s. (Anat.) Chyme. அன்னப்பால், s. The water strained from boiled rice, conjee. அன்னப்பிராசனம், s. The ceremony of feeding a child with rice for the first time--if a boy, on the sixth or any other even month afterwards, as the eighth, tenth, &c.--if a daughter, on any odd month after the sixth. The direction is given in காசிகாண்டம், and is regularly practised by Brahmans, குழ ந்தைக்குமுன்னர்ச்சோறூட்டல். Wils. p. 4. ANNAPRASHANA. அன்னமயகோசம், s. The gross material body, sustained by food--as one of the investitures or supports of any soul, சரீரம். See கோசம். Wils. p. 4. ANNAMAYAKOSHA. அன்னரேகை, s. [in palmistry.] A line on the hand indicating abundance of the means of support to him who has it, கையிரேகையினொன்று. அன்னவஸ்திரம், s. Food and clothing. அன்னவூறல், s. Rice-gruel, or water in which rice has been boiled, கஞ்சி. அன்னாபிடேகம்--அன்னாபிஷேகம், s. Anointing an idol with boiled rice. அன்னாலாத்தி, s. Lamps of boiled rice before an idol, or a new married couple, to dispel the fascination of unlucky eyes. See ஆலாத்தி. 9)
அன்னம்
aṉṉm (p. 34) s. A swan, அன்னப்புள். 2. (p.) The bosgrunniens, or yak, as கவரிமா. அன்னக்கொடி, s. The swan as the banner of Brahma, பிரமன்கொடி. அன்னக்கொடியோன், s. Brahma. (p.) அன்னக்கொப்பு, s. An ear-ornament with a circle and the swan engraved on it, மகளிர்காதணியினொன்று. அன்னத்தூவி, s. Down of the swan. See சயனம். அன்னவூசல், s. A kind of swing turned by a person unseen. அன்னவூர்தி, s. The swan as a vehicle. அன்னவாகனம். 2. The god Brahma-as riding on the swan, பிரமா.(p.) 10)

aḷku (p. 33) s. The hen of an owl, fowl, or peacock, கூகை, கோழி, மயில் இவற்றின்பெண். (தொல்காப்.) 2. The hen of a swan, அன்னப் பெடை. (இரகு.) 3. A cock, சேவல். (திரு விளை.) 4. The third lunar asterism, கார்த் திகைநாள். (p.) அன்னமயல்செல அளகுமாடேமேதகா வெறுப்ப. As the cock-swan approached, its hen declined embracing it. அளகைப்பொறித்த கொடியிளையோன். Skanda whose banner is painted with the figure of a cock. 20)

kātampam (p. 104) s. A variety of sweetsinging swan, இனிதாகப்பாடும் அன்னம். (சது. 17)
கொப்பு
koppu (p. 146) s. A branch, கொம்பு. 2. A female ornament for the upper part of the ear, காதணியிலொன்று. 3. (Tel.) A female tuft or knot of hair, கொண்டை. கொப்பாந்தேன், s. [prov.] As கொம்புத் தேன். கொப்புவாளி, s. [loc.] A female ear ornament. அன்னக்கொப்பு, s. An ear ornament. See under அன்னம். கலசக்கொப்பு, s. An ear ornament adorned with small gold cups. சல்லடைக்கொப்பு, s. An ear ornament with a circle to cover part of the cavity of the ear. சாதாக்கொப்பு, s. A plain ear ornament; [ex சாதா, plain.] 87)
கோசம்
kōcam (p. 148) s. Egg, முட்டை. 2. Penis; also the scrotum, ஆண்குறி. 3. Sheath, scabbard, case, receptacle, உறை. These sheaths are five, one within the other. 4. Treasures, stores--as gold or silver plate, jewelry, &c., பலபண்டம். 5. A store house, a treasury, பண்டசாலை. 6. A treatise, a book, especially a dictionary, or vocabulary, புத்தகம். W. p. 252. KÔSHA. 7. (சது.) Covered or ornamented parts of a fortress-wall, மதிலுறுப்பு. 8. Street, வீதி. (p.) 9. [in Hindu philosophy.] A covering or case for the organised soul, கவசம். Cases supposed to invest to soul are five; 1. அன்னமயகோசம்; the body sustained by food. W. p. 4. ANNAMAYAKÔSHA. 2. பிரா ணமயகோசம்; the vital, external organs. W. p. 586. PRANAMAYAKÔSHA. 3. மனோமயகோ சம்; the mental organs with the faculty of thought, (மனம்.) operating through the senses. 4. விஞ்ஞானமயகோசம்; the supposed organs of intellectual perception with the faculty of intellect (புத்தி.) 5. ஆனந்தமய கோசம்; supreme felicity in which the soul is so entirely absorbed as to be unconscious of everything else. தயா
tayā (p. 224) s. Favor, clemency, compassion, கிருபை. W. p. 4. DAYA. (Used only in combination.) தயாசமுத்திரம், s. A sea of grace. தயாசீலம், s. Grace, graciousness. தயாசீலன், s. A benevolent, gracious person. தயாபரன், s. (voc. தயாபரா.) The gracious god. 2. (fem. தயாபரி.) A beneficent man. நரசீலதயாபரர். God, who is bountiful towards men. தயாமூர்்த்தி, s. The incarnation of benevolence. தயாவிருத்தி, s. Increase of grace, கிரு பைமிகுதல். 2. The fourteen acts of beneficence, தயாவிருத்தி, 14.--The first seven relate to the soul, the other seven to the body. Of the soul; 1. களாபடனம், education, communication of knowledge, கல் விபயிற்றுகை; 2. வியாதாகாரம், comfort to the afflicted, consolation of mind, துயர்தீர்க்கை; 3. நிர்க்கத்தண்டனம், relieving from punishment, தண்டம்நீக்குகை; 4. சந்தேகவாரணம், removing doubts, contingency, &c., ஐயந் தேற்றுகை; 5. அன்னியகுணசகனம், hearing of the superiority of others without envy, and enduring their infirmities with patience, பிறந்குணத்தழுக்காறின்றிப்பொறுத்தல்; 6. பரதிருதுனயோகம், forgetting the evils inflicted by others and seeking to do them good, பிறராற்செய்யப்படுந்தீமையைமறந்தூன்றிநி னைக்கை; 7. பார்த்ததேவப்பிராத்திதம், praying for the prosperity and good of others, பிறர்நிமித்தந்தேவனைவழிபடுதல். Those regarding the body or சத்தாங் கோபகராம் are: 1. அன்னம், food, giving boiled rice, உணவு; 2. பானம், drink, குடிக்க நீர்; 3. அம்பரம், raiment, வஸ்திரம்; 4. மந்திரம், a dwelling, இடம்; 5. தாசபாலனம். preservation from slavery, அடிமைகாத்தல்; 6. காராமயத்திரிதயமோசனம், removing the three afflictions of captivity, சிறைநோய் மூன்றுந்தீர்த்தல். viz.: restraint from the calls of nature, மலசலவாதை; corporal punishments, சரீரதண்டனை; chains, fetters, விலங்கு போடல். 7. சவச்சேமம், burial, பிரேதமடக்கல். There are eight other kinds of benevolence. 1. பிறர்க்குப்பொருள்வரவையுவத்தல், rejoicing in a neighbor's wealth; 2. பிறர்செல்வம்பொறுத்தல், being content in seeing a neighbor's welfare; 3. பிறர்கருமத் திற்குடன்படுதல், assisting in other's business, with interest; 4. தீமைக்கஞ்சல், fearing to do evil; 5. பிறர்கருமமுடிக்கவிரைதல், hastening to assist others; 6. பிறரையந் தீர்த்தல், removing other's doubts; 7. நன் மைகடைப்படித்தல், preserving in doing good; 8. பிறர்துயர்க்கிரங்கல், commiserating the distress of others; sympathizing with the afflicted. 19) *

piccai (p. 314) --பிட்சை--பிக்ஷை, s. Rice and other food given as alms, இரப்புணவு. 2. Alms, charity, தருமம். W. p. 61. BHIKSHA.--Fu. the proverb, see கச்சவடம், and தாலி. பிச்சைக்குமூத்தகுடி. A very poor family, near to beggary. பிள்ளைப்பிச்சைகேட்குதல், Asking [of God] the blessing of children. பிச்சாகாரம்--பிக்ஷாகாரம், Food begged, alms; [ex ஆகாரம்.] பிச்சாசரன்--பிக்ஷாசரன், s. A mendicant beggar, பிச்சைக்காரன். W. p. 619. BHIKSHACHARA. பிச்சாடனம்--பிக்ஷாடனம், s. Begging, mendicancy, இரப்பு. W. p. 619. BHIKSHAT'ANA. 2. A commemorative ceremony among Saiva brahmans. (R.) பிச்சாதானம்--பிக்ஷாதானம், s. The taking of alms. 2. The giving of alms. பிச்சாபாத்திரம்--பிக்ஷாபாத்திரம், s. A medicant's vessel. பிச்சான்னம்--பிக்ஷான்னம், s. Rice given in alms; [ex அன்னம்.] பிச்சைகேட்டல், v.noun. Begging, asking for alms. பிச்சைகொடுக்க, inf. To give alms. பிச்சைக்காரர், s. Beggars, mendicants. பிச்சைச்சோறு, s. Boiled rice, given after a death. பிச்சைத்தனம், s. Poverty, indigence, mendicity. 2. Meanness, beggarliness. பிச்சைபண்ணுதல், v. noun. Religious mendicants partaking of a charitable feast. ஐயாதேவரீரடியேன் குடிசையிலின்றைக்குப்பிச் சைபண்ணவேண்டும். Sir, please to come and take a meal at my house to-day. பிச்சைபோட--பிச்சையிட, inf. As பிச்சைகொடுக்க. பிச்சைப்படி, s. A small sized measure. See படி. (R.) பிச்சையிரக்க, inf. To beg. பிச்சையுண்ணி, appel. n.
