aṉṟu (p. 34) s. That day, then, any time but the present, அந்நாள். 2. (The third person masc. sing. of the defective verb, அல்.) It is not (that, but something else), அல்லது. 3. An expletive, அசைச் சொல்--as, ஆயதன்றே; for ஆயது, it happened. 4. [in poetry.] அன்று, is used for அன்றி--as, நாளன்றுபோகி, for நாளன்றிப்போகி. அன்றன்று. Daily, every day.-Note. In the high dialect, words which imply time and end in று or டு, are made adjectives by changing the preceding ன், or ண், into ற், or ட், and உ, into ஐ--as அன்று, is made அற்றை, இன்றுஇற்றை; also ஆண்டு-ஆட்டை, yearly. அன்றாடம், adv. Daily. (c.) அன்றினர், s. Foes, opponents, பகைவர்; [ex இனம்.] (பிரபுலிங்க.) அன்றுமுதல். From that day forward. அன்றெரிந்தான், s. A small shrub, ஓர்பூண்டு. அன்றே--அன்றைத்தினம்--அன் றையதினம், s. ayir (p. 22) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To suspect, surmise, conjecture, suppose, doubt, ஐயப்பட. 2. To infer, incline to an opinion, have doubt partly removed, perceive or ascertain indistinctly, அனுமானிக்க. (p.) அலைவாள்யவனர்க்கயிராதுபுக்கு. aṟai (p. 33) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், ய, v. a. To slap, strike with the open hand or with any thing flat, அடிக்க. 2. To hammer a nail, &c. கடாவ. 3. To beat a drum, முழங்க. 4. To beat as wind, also as a wave, to dash as a mountain torrent, மோத. 5. (p.) To speak, say, declare, சொல்ல. ஆணியறைய, inf. To drive a nail. பறையறைய, inf. To beat a tomtom. கன்னத்திலறைய, inf. To beat on the cheek. அறை, v. noun. A slap with the hand, a blow with a hammer, &c., அடி. 2. A gust of wind, காற்றடிக்கை. 3. The dashing of a wave or of a mountain torrent, அலையடிக்கை. 4. (c.) அலட்டி, s. [prov.] A bully, a blusterer, அலப்பி. அலட்டு--அலட்டுகை, v. noun. Teasing, importunity, அலைக்கழிப்பு. 2. Raving, incoherent talk, delirium, பி தற்று. 3.
