An atom from the airy regions which it is supposed strikes the eye, which does not recover till the same hour next day, ஆகாசத்திற் பறக்குமணு. ஆகாசத்தாமரை, s. A water plant, Pistia stratiotes, the roots of which float in the water, அந்தரத்தாமரை. 2. (fig.) An aerial or sky-lotus; i. e. a fanciful or ideal thing, absurdity, impossibility, பொய். ஆகாசபட்சி, s. The sky-lark, சா தகப்புள். ஆகாசமண்டலம், s. The aerial regions, வானமண்டலம். Wils. p. 13. AKASHAMANDALA. 2. A kind of dancing, ஓர்கூத்து. ஆகாசமயம், s. Emptiness, that which is void of substance. ஆகாசமார்க்கம், s. The aerial way as passed by gods, by the planets, and other heavenly bodies regarded as gods; and by men who by austerities, incantations, magical rites, &c. have acquired superhuman powers. ஆகாசவல்லி, s. A running plant, ஓர்கொடி, Menyanthes cristata. (Roxb.) ஆகாசவாசிகள், s. The inhabitants of the ethereal regions, ஓர்தேவ கணம்--One of the eighteen கணம். ஆகாசவாணி--ஆகாயவாணி, s. karuṭaṉ (p. 96) s. The Brahmany kite, கலுழன். 2. The bird and vehicle of Vishnu. He is generally represented as a being something between a man and a bird, and considered to be sovereign of the feathered race; he is the son of Kasyapa and Vinata and the younger brother of Aruns, விட்டு ணுவாகனம், Falco pondischerianus. Wils. p. 283. GARUDA. கருடகம்பம், s. A species of lamp used by one of the Vaishnava sects at religious festivals. கருடகேதனன்-கருடக்கொடியோ ன்--கருடத்துவசன், s. Vishnu, விட்டுணு, whose flag is the kite. Wils. p. 283. GARUDATHVAJA. கருடக்கல்--கருடப்பச்சைக்கல்-கருடபட்சிக்கல் s. A kind of medicinal stone or mineral taken for the bite of a snake or put on the wound with the repetition of incantations, ஓர்கல். கருடக்கொடி, s. A flag in which the picture of a kite is drawn, கருடத்துவ சம். 2. A plant called பெருமருந்து, Aristolochia Indica. 3. Another plant called குறிஞ்சா, Gymnema sylvestra. கருடக்கொவ்வை--கருடத்தொண் டை, s. A climbing plant, ஓர்கொடி Clitoria, L. கருடசாரம், s. Sea salt, சிந்துல வணம். கருடதரிசனம், s. The worship of the kite as the representative of Vishnu on special days; the sight of the bird at such seasons is deemed very auspicious, கருடனைத்தரிசிக்கை. கருடதிசை, s. East, கீழ்த்திசை-used in astrology. கருடத்தியானம், s. Devotion addressed by the enchanter to the god Garuda in case of venomous bites, கருட னைத்தியானிக்கை. கருடபஞ்சாக்கரம், s. An incantation of five letters sacred to Garuda. கருடபாடாணம்--கருடபாஷாண ம், s. A species of arsenic. கருடபார்வை, s. A squint eye, மாறுபார்வை. 2. [prov.] An expressive, penetrating look. கருடவாகனன், s. A Vishnu regarded mounted on Garuda. கருடவித்தை, s. Incantations, &c., connected with Garuda. கருடற்கண்ணன், s. [as புதன்.] The elder brother of கருடன் and son of சந்திரன். (சது.) கருடன்கிழங்கு, s. A kind of root. கருடன்தாய், s. The same as விநதை. கருடாஞ்சனம், s. Eye-salve for a person bitten by a snake, or for cases of apoplexy, விஷந்தீர்க்கக்கண்ணிலிடுமருந்து. ஆகாசகருடன், s. kiḷi (p. 112) s. A parrot, a paroquet, கிள்ளை. 2. A grass-hopper, a locust, வெட்டுக்கிளி. 3. A parrot-fish, ஓர்மீன். கிளிகடிகருவி--கிளிகடிகோல், s. A sling to scare away parrots, தட்டை. கிளிக்கூடு, s. A cage of parrots. 2. A cage with spikes pointed inside, for torturing criminals. கிளிப்பிள்ளை, s. A parrot. See கிளி. கிளிமூக்கு, s. A parrot's beak, or any thing resembling it. 2. A piece of the rib of an ola, on an book, to keep the leaves together, when strung. கிளிமொழி, s. Lisping or prattling like a parrot. 2. [metaphor.] A lady with a lisping, mincing and affected manner of speech, intended to be graceful and charming. கருங்கிளி, s. A black parrot. பச்சைக்கிளி--பசுங்கிளி--பைங்கிளி, s. Green parrot. பஞ்சவன்னக்கிளி, s. A parrot of five colors, considered a superior kind. வெள்ளைக்கிளி, s. White parrot. கிளிப்பூச்சி, s. A grass-hopper. இலைக்கிளி, s. Leaf-winged locust, Mortis. தத்துக்கிளி, s. A locust. தவிட்டுக்கிளி, s. A small locust, Attilabus. பச்சைக்கிளி, s. A green locust. மழைக்கிளி, s. Locust appearing before the rains, M. imbrifera. வெட்டுக்கிளி--வெட்டாங்கிளி, s. A large locust. கிளிமீன், s. A kind of fish, a parrot-fish. கிளிக்கொம்பு, s. A short and crooked horn like a parrot's beak. கிளிக்கொம்பன், s. An ox whose horns are short and turned downwards. கிளிச்சிறை, s. One of the four kinds of gold resembling, in color, the parrot's wing, ஓர்வகைப்்பொன். கிளிமூக்கன், s. One with an aquiline nose. கிளிமூக்குக்கிழங்கு, s. The root of the ஆகாசகருடன் creeper, ஆகாசகருடன்கிழங்கு. கிளிமூக்குமாங்காய், s. A mango with the bottom end a little bent. கிளிமூக்கெழுத்தாணி, s. A style with a hooked knife at top, for cutting olas. கிளித்தட்டு, s. [prov.] A kind of jumping play, with squares formed on the ground, ஓர்விளையாட்டு. கிளித்தட்டுப்பாய்தல், v. noun. Playing at the game of கிளித்தட்டு. நடுக்கிளி, s. A person standing in the square to defend it. பக்கத்துக்கிளி, s. The person who passes through the squares. 8)
