ām (p. 39) s. One of the poetic expletives, சாரியை. 2. An expletive, அசைநிலை. 3. A termination of the first person plural, in verbs of both classes, தன்மைப்பன்மைவி குதி. 4. A termination of the plural of verbs embracing the first and second person, உளப்பாட்டுத்தன்மைப்பன்மைவிகுதி. 5. A contraction of ஆகும், used to denote a quotation--as பெரியவனாம், it is said 'he is great.' 6. A contraction of the future of ஆ, in the third person neuter. 7. A particle of assent, yes; it is often doubled --as ஆம் ஆம், written, ஆமாம், and contracted to ஆமா. 8. A particle of comparison, ஓர் உவமவுருபு--as அல்லாங்குழலாள், a woman whose hair is black as darkness. (p.) வந்தாம். We came. பணியுமாமென்றும் பெருமை. Greatness is always humble. நானும் நீயுஞ்சென்றாம். niṉai (p. 277) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To think, consider, reflect, யோசிக்க. 2. To meditate, contemplate, சிந்திக்க. 3. To extend, design, have in view, எண்ண. 4. To bear in mind, call or recall to mind, to remember, ஞாபகஞ்செய்ய. 5. To imagine, fancy, suppose, பாவிக்க. 6. To exert volition; to will, to purpose, தீர்மானிக்க. 7. To think upon, to design to eye with mercy, கடாட்சிக்க. 8. To be pleased, to please to do a think, &c., பிரியமுற. 9. To be grateful for, to remember with gratitude, நன் றியறிய. (c.) நினைக்கவும்ஆகும். He no sooner thinks than it is done. நினைத்தகாரியஞ்சொல்லுகிறது. To tell, as a soothsayer, &c., what one has in view and the result of his application. நினைத்ததுமுடிப்பான்.
