āytm (p. 40) s. The letter ஃ, so called from the indistinctness of its sound, or from the peculiarity and minuteness of its form. It is chiefly a consonant, but sometimes occurs as a vowel; yet it cannot be confounded with another letter, தனிநிலை. (p.) ஆய்தக்குறுக்கம், s. A trader's private mark, indicating quality or value, மதிப்படையாளம். 5. Estimation, apprizement, மதிப்பு. 6. A round mark or circle set over an inanimate consonant, ஒற்றெழுத்துமேலிடும்புள்ளி. 7. An inanimate consonant, மெய்யெழுத்து. 8. The letter written ஃ, ஆய்தப்புள்ளி. 9. (fig.) A large sum, பெருந்தொகை. 1. (சது.) A lizard, பல்லி. 11. A crab, நண்டு. கண்ணிலேபுள்ளிவிழுந்தது. A speck is grown in the eye. (R.) புள்ளிக்கணக்கு, s. Method adopted by tradesmen in marking cloth. 2. Practical arithmetic, ciphering. புள்ளிக்கணக்கன், s. One versed in the practical arithmetic of tradesmen. See பள்ளிக்கணக்கன். புள்ளிக்காரன், s. A rich man, as one of so many thousand ciphers added to a given number, பணக்காரன். 2. An accountant, கணக்கன். புள்ளிக்கால், s. See under கால். புள்ளிபாய, inf. To become spotted, or speckled. புள்ளிபார்க்க, inf. To value the produce of a field, &c. (Govt. usage.) 2. To settle accounts. புள்ளிபோட, inf. To note down the several articles, to compute. 2. To make a dot. 3. As புள்ளிபார்க்க. புள்ளிப்பட்டு, s. A variegated silk stuff. புள்ளிமான், s.
