Most of the meanings of this word have reference to the mind. சாஸ்திரத்திற்கமைந்துநடக்கிறவன், He is one who obeyed the shasters. ஐம்புலனமைந்தவன், s. One who has suppressed the five senses, or to whom the senses are subject. இது என்விசாரணைக்கமைந்த காரியம். It is a matter at my disposal. என்விருப்பத்திற்கமைந்தபடிநடந்தது. It has occurred to my satisfaction. சுகதுக்கம் ஊழின்படி அமையும். Good and evil are appointed according to former character. செயுநீர்மைசெய்யாதமைகலாவாறு. Owing to dissatisfaction at inability to do charity. (குறள். 22. அதி.) அமையவுண்மின். Eat enough. இரட்சிப்பு இறைவனுக்கமைந்தது. Salvation is of God. அமையாமை, neg. v. noun. A dog, நாய். அற்ப ஆசை கோடிதவத்தைக்கெடுக்கும். The coveting of a small thing destroys the penance of years. இதொரு அற்பகாரியம். This is a trifling thing. அற்பசங்கை--அற்பாசமனம், s. The act of making urine, modesté--in reference to those who wear the string. அற்பத்தனம், s. Vileness, meanness. அற்பபுத்தி, s. Low wit, folly, silliness. அற்பமாய், adv. Meanly, basely, vilely. அற்பன், s. (pl. அற்பர்.) An inferior, low-caste or ill-bred person, a mean person. அற்பனுக்குப்பவிஷுவந்தாலத்தராத்திரியிற்குடை பிடிப்பான். If a mean person has obtained wealth, he will carry an umbrella even at midnight. 67)

aẕuttu (p. 33) கிறேன், அழுத்தினேன், வேன், அழுத்த, v. a. To press, press hard as in writing with a heavy hand, impress, imprint, அழுந்தச்செய்ய. 2. To make firm, compact, உரப்பிக்க. 3. To set diamonds, &c., enchase, inlay fine gold in jewels, பதிக்க. 4. To repeat, reiterate sentiments or arguments in order to make an impression on the minds of others, to insist upon, maintain tenaciously, கருத்திலிருத்த. (c.) இதை யுன்மனதிலே யழுத்திப்பார். āl (p. 43) s. That species of banian tree which casts roots from its branches-deemed sacred to Vishnu, and commonly regarded as the abode of goblins. Its roots form one of the kinds of sacrificial fuel, ஆலமரம், Ficus indica, L. (c.) ஆல்போற்றழைத்து அறுகுபோல்வேரூன்றி மூங்கில் போற்சுற்ற முசியாமல் வாழ்ந்திருப்பீர். May you flourish as a banian tree, put forth roots and spread as the creeping stems of the arugu grass, and prosper being encircled by kinsmen as thickly crowded bamboos. ஆலமர்கடவுள், s. Siva, சிவன். (p.) ஆலம்விழுது, s. The roots growing down from the branches of the banian tree. ஆலின்மேற்புல்லுருவி or புல்லூரி, s. A mistletoe that destroys the tree on which it grows, even the ஆல், which otherwise is never known to die, as it throws down its roots and continues to spread itself. கல்லால்--குறுவால்--சிற்றால், s.
