uṭṉ (p. 59) s. A particle of time and place used in combination with other words and expressing co-existence, accompaniment--a form of the third case or the social ablative, மூன்றாம்வேற்றுமையின்சொல்லு ருபு. 2. Instantly, immediately, at once, அப்பொழுதே. உடனாளி, appel. noun. Companion, co-partner, கூட்டாளி. 2. (Rott.) A man of property. உடனிகழ்ச்சி--உடனிகழ்தல்--உ டனிகழ்வு, v. noun. Co-existing, happening simultaneously. 2. A term in grammar implying co-existence, concomitan cy. உடனிகழ்ச்சிப்பொருள். ஒடுவென்பதுடனிகழ்வைக்காட்டும். The particle ஒடு shows accompaniment. உடனிலைமயக்கம்--உடனிலைமெய் மயக்கம், s. [in orthography.] The combination of two consonants of the same kind--as அக்கம், அச்சம், opp. to வேற்றுநிலை மெய்மயக்கம். உடனுக்குடனே. The very instant, at the very juncture, immediately succeeding another event. பாம்புகடித்தவுடனுக்குடனேபிரயோகம்பண்ணிக் கொண்டான். He applied the remedy as soon as the snake bit him. உடனுற்றவன், s. A servant of the same class with another. உடனே, adv. Immediately. 2. prep. With, together with. ஒருசாமமானவுடனே. Immediately after the first watch. அவனதைச்சொன்னவுடனே. As soon as he had said it. என்னுடனேவா. Come along with me. உடனொத்தபங்காளி, s. An equal sharer. உடனொத்தவன், s. An equal, a fellow, an acquaintance, a compeer. உடன்கட்டையேற, inf. To ascend the funeral pile--as a Hindu widow with her deceased husband, அனுமரணம டைய; [ex கட்டை, log of wood.] உடன்கூட்டு, s. Co-partnership, fellowship, உடன்சேர்க்கை. உடன்கூட்டாளி, s. Co-partner, participator. உடன்கை. [prop. உடனே.] Immediately succeeding, just after, as soon as. வேலைசெய்துமுடிந்தவுடன்கையிலேகாசுகிடைக் கும். The wages will be paid as soon as the work is done. உடன்பங்காளி, s. A joint-sharer or participator, a co-partner, கூட்டுப்பங் காளி. 2. A co-heir, joint-heir, a brother's sons having a right to share in the family property, உடன்சுதந்தரவாளி. உடன்பங்கு, s. A joint-share, equal share (whether in trade, inheritance, land or otherwise), participation, joint-heirship, கூட்டுப்பங்கு. உடன்பட, inf. [com. உடம்பட.] To agree, assent, consent, acquiesce, harmonize with, சம்மதிப்பட. 2. To engage, contract, form a compact, பொருந்த. 3. To undertake, enter upon, உடம்படிக்கை செய்ய. 4. [com. உடம்ப டிக்கை.] A contract, agreement, compact, covenant, engagement, &c., written or verbal, சம்மதிப்பத்திரம். 2. A promise, assurance, உறுதிப்பாடு. உடன்படுத்த, inf. To induce consent, to make willing, சம்மதிப்படுத்த. 2. To unite, reconcile, இசைவிக்க. உடன்படுவிலக்கு, s. A figure of speech by which a negation is couched in affirmative words--as அப்போதடுப்ப தறியேனருள்செய்ய இப்போதிவளுமிசைகின்றாள்-தப்பில், பொருளோபுகழோதரப்போவீர்மாலை இரு ளோநிலவோவெழும். [in grammar.] Positive or affirmative--as opposed to negative terms, or negative forms of expression, விதி. உடம்பாடிலாதவர்வாழ்க்கைகுடங்கருட்பாம்போ டுடனுறைந்தற்று. Those who live in discord are as if enclosed in a vessel with a live snake. உடன்பாட்டுவினை, s. A verb in the affirmative form, விதிவினை. உடன்பிறந்தவர்கள்--உடன்பிறந் தார், s. Own full brothers or sisters. உடன்பிறந்தார்சுற்றத்தாரென்றிருக்கவேண்டாம். Because born with you, do not imagine them to be your friends. உடன்பிறப்பு, s. Easiness of accomplishment, acquisition, access, &c.; what is not difficult, இலேசு. 1. A kind of rape, the plant or seed, எள்ளு. (p.) எண்ணுக்குள்ளடங்காதது. That which is innumerable. 2. That which is incomprehensible. எண்ணுமெழுத்துங்கண்ணெனத்தகும். Arithmetic and grammar may be regarded as eyes. எண்ணெழுத்திகழேல். Think not lightly of numbers and letters, do not neglect reading and cyphering. எண்பொருளவாகச்செலச்சொல்லி. Communicating your thoughts in language easy to be understood-எண்சாத்திரம், s. The science of numbers, arithmetic, mathematics, கணி தம். எண்கூட்டல், s. Addition. எண்சுவடி, s. The multiplication table either of whole numbers, or fractions, ஓர்சுவடி. 2. An account book, கணக்குப்புஸ்தகம். எண்செய்யுள், s. A poem celebrating the country, town, names, titles, &c. of a hero. It consists of any number of verses from ten to onethousand inclusive. and is named from the number of verses it contains, ஓர்பிர பந்தம். See பிரபந்தம். எண்ணர், s. Astronomers, கணிதர். ஏரணங்காணென்பரெண்ணர். Astronomers will call this a treatise of arithmetic. (கோவை.) எண்ணிட, inf. To count, reckon, calculate. எண்ணிடஇடமொன்றியின்றியெங்கணும்நிறைந்த தன்றே. See Beschi's Shen-Tamil Gram. p. 85. நிலைமண்டுதல், v. noun. Making a long stay in a place from home. 2. Sticking closely to a place, as a person, or animal. நிலைமாறுதல், v. noun. Changing place, principles or religion, being proselyted, இடமாறுதல். 2. [in gram.] Being changed in place--as letters, in words, as வைகாசி for வைசாகி, the latter being according to the original, சொல்லினெழுத்துமா றுதல். நிலைமொழி, s. [in gram.] The preceding or antecedent word, வருமொழிக்கு முதன்மொழி. நிலையகம், s. House, abode, வீடு. (p.) நிலையங்கி, s. A robe, a cloak. நிலையழிய, inf. To be unsettled as a kingdom, or ruined as a family, &c. 2. To depart from right principles, as நிலைதவற. 3. To be discomfited, தட்டழிய. நிலையழிவு, v. noun. Defeat, discomfiture, &c., as தட்டுக்கேடு. நிலையறிதல், v. noun. Knowing one's standing, rank, character or principles. நிலையாடி, appel. n. A weaver's swift. நெய்வார்கருவியுளொன்று. 2. Standing looking glass as நிலைக்கண்ணாடி. நிலையாகக்கேட்டல், v. noun. Hearing steadily, attentively, fixedly, உறுதிாயாய்க் கேட்டல். நிலையிடல், v. noun. Establishing, confirming, ஸ்தாபித்தல். நிலையியற்பொருள், s. A motionless inanimate thing. (p.) நிலையில்லாமை--நிலையின்மை, v. noun. (neg.) Transientness, transitoriness, அநித்தியம். 2. Fickleness, wavering, instability, உறுதியின்மை. நிலையில்லாதவன், appel. n. A changeable person, one who breaks his word. நிலையுடைக்கட்டை, s. A pivot. (R.) நிலையுடைமை, v. noun. Stability, firmness. (p.) நிலையுமல், s. [prov.] A large basket for grain, &c., kept stationary. நிலையுரல், s. A large mortar. நிலையூன்ற, inf. To take firm footing, become firmly settled in place, பலப் பட. 2. To become firmly rooted as a tree, வேரூன்ற. நிலைவரம், s. [improp. நிலைபரம். Tel. நிலவரமு.] State, condition, circumstances, நிலைமை. 2. Certainty, assurance, உண்மை. 3. Firmness, steadiness, sureness, உறுதி. நிலைவரப்பட்டவன், appel. n. A person who may be depended upon. நிலைவிளக்கு, s. Lamps placed in a square frame in a temple opposite the door; being stationary, not taken for other purposes. See சட்டவிளக்கு. ஒருநிலையாய்நிற்றல், v. noun. Continuing in a stationary posture. 2. [also ஒருகாலிலேநிற்றல்.] Persisiting, commonly in an improper request. 156)

To become prosperous, powerful, well established or defended, as a king by armies, forts, &c., அதிகப்பட. பலத்த, adj. Strong, powerful. பலத்தகள்ளன், s. A notorious robber. பலத்தடிக்க, inf. [in astron.] The setting of a planet, the heliacal setting of a planet, அஸ்தமனம்; [ex படு, v.]--In some combinations it is doubled as பாட்டாளி, பாட் டிலே, &c. அதிலேபாடில்லை. No trouble or no loss. பாடுவந்தாற்றாங்கமாட்டேன். If damage come, I will not bear it. இதுஉடன்பாடுதான். This is your duty. பாடெம்மாத்திரம். How much waste? (by melting. &c.) அவரவர்பாட்டிலேபோங்கள். Let each one go to his work. ஒருபாடு. One side. தன்பாடாய். By his own exertions. இன்றைக்குமீன்பாடில்லை. To-day there is no fish. பாடாக, inf. To suffer injury; to perish, கெட. பாடாயடிக்க, inf. To beat severely. பாடாயழிய, inf. To be seriously damaged, to be ruined. பாடாய்முடிய, inf. To turn out disastrously. பாடாய்விழ, inf. To have a dangerous fall. 2. To sustain a heavy loss from a fall--as of a valuable tree, a field of grain, &c. பாடாவறுதி--பாடாவாரி, s. [prov.] A very heavy or severe blow, a loss; confinement to a couch from a severe injury, மிகுபாடு. பாடாவிதி, s. Troublesomeness, distress, disaster, கெடுவிதி; [ex விதி, fate.] (Beschi.) காரியம்பாடாவிதியாய்முடிந்தது. The thing ended unhappily. பாடுகாட்டிவிழ, inf. To lean or fall on one side, through weakness. பாடுகாயம்--பாடானகாயம், s. A mortal wound, as படுகாயம். பாடுசேதம், s. Loss, waste in measuring or melting metals, &c. பாடுபட, inf. To suffer, to endure hardship, pain, trouble. 2. To take pains, to labor hard, to try, to endeavor. பாடுபடவிதித்தாயோதெய்வமே. O, God! hast thou doomed me to suffer thus? பாடுபடுத்த, inf. [causative.] To afflict, to put to pain; to torture. 2. To set to hard labor, to keep one hard at work. பாடுபடுத்திக்கேட்க, inf. To question by torture. பாடுபட்டுத்தேட, inf. To get by labor. பாடுபட்டுப்பிழைக்க, inf. To live by hard labor. பாடுபட்டுப்பெற, inf. To bring forth with great suffering. 2. To attain an object with great labor. பாடுபட்டுழைக்க, inf. To earn by great industry, or pains. பாடுபறப்பு, v. noun. One's cares, anxieties, labor, hardship or drudgery. பாடுபாடாய்விழ, inf. To fall again and again, first on one side and then on the other. பாடுபார்க்க, inf. To attend to one's business, labor, or drudgery. பாடுவாசி, s. Allowance for the waste produced by rubbing or melting gold. அடிப்பாடு, s. Custom, path, &c. See in its place. ஆசைப்பாடு, s. Cupidity. உறுதிப்பாடு--பெரும்பாடு. See in their places. பாட்டாளி, s. A laborious man, neg. பாட்டாளியல்ல. 2. See பாட்டு. பாட்டாள், s. One capable of hard work. 2. [prov.] An idler, சோம்பன். 3. See பாட்டு. பாட்டிலேபோக, inf. [with possessive pron.] To attend to ones own business. See தன்பாடு. 2. [in astron.] To set, as the moon, or other heavenly body. பாட்டிலேவிழ, inf.
