To produce mental pain--as by a sarcastic remark, &c., மனதிலுறுத்த.--Note. The meanings of this word are commonly determined by the noun prefixed to it, and it may generally be construed by the form to cause to be, &c. See எலும்புறுத்த, below. புரவிபண்ணுறுத்திடுவார். To speak so as to make an impression on the mind. 2. To speak with energy, earnestness, &c. எலும்புறுத்த, inf. To cause a smarting irritation--as the bones by being protruded. துன்புறுத்த, inf. To injure, destroy, defile, annihilate, ruin. சூனியதிசை, s. The S. E. point of the compass, bring by some astrological or other influence deemed unpropitious. 2. The direction or side in which the breath does not pass from the nostril, right or left, at any given time. See. சரம். சூனியநிதி, s. A phasis of the moon, which, when a similar one occurs in the same month, is regarded as unpropitious, the other being propitious. சூனியத்துவம், s. Vacuity, emptiness, &c.,--as சூனியம், 4, 5, 6, which see. சூனியநாள், s. An unpropitious day. See கிழமைச்சூனியம். சூனியமனை, s. Bewitched ground. சூனியமாதம், s. Any of the seven constituent parts of the body, இரசமாதியேழு. 4. Any one of the five elements, மண்ணாதி யைந்து. 5. The filaments of a flower, பூந் தாது. 6. The தாதுமாதளை tree. (சது.) 7.
