The six obbreviations of letters, viz.: குற்றியலிகரம், abbreviated இ, --as in நாகியாது, எஃகியாது, வரகியாது, கொக்கி யாது, குரங்கியாது, தெள்கியாது, கேண்மியா,சென் மியா. 2. குற்றியலுகரம், abbreviated உ--as நாகு, எஃகு, வரகு, கொக்கு, குரங்கு, தெள்கு. 3. ஐகாரக்குறுக்கம், abbreviated ஐ--as ஐப்பசி. இ டையன், குவளை. Undecided, unsettled state of a thing. மனக்குழப்பம், s. Agitation or perturbation of mind, perplexity. 2. Doubt, wavering, fluctuation. ஊர்க்குழப்பம், s. Disturbance in a village or town; sedition, rebellion. குழப்பக்காரன்--குழப்படிகாரன்--குழ ப்பன், s. A quarrelsome person; a disturber of society. குழப்பமாயிருக்க--குழப்பமாய்க்கிடக்க, inf. To be in confusion, uproar, &c.; to be in perturbation, or anxiety. குழப்பம்பண்ண, inf. To confuse, to embroil, to derange. 2. To quarrel, to contend. 3. To stir up strife. 4. To raise sedition, insurection, &c. ஐப்பசிக்குழப்பம், s. Rough weather at the setting in of the N. E. mansoon, in October. கடற்குழப்பம், s. A boisterious sea. கள்ளர்குழப்பம், s. Fear of thieves, disturbance by thieves. காற்றுக்குழப்பம், s. A storm, புசல். சித்திரைக்குழப்பம், s. A storn common at the beginning of the S. W. monsoon, in April, சித்திரைப்புசல். 18)

The months are solar, as the Vákya, and not the Siddkanta system, is followed. The twelve months are, சித்திரை, April, வைகாசி, May; ஆனி. June; ஆடி, July; ஆவணி, August; புரட்டாசி, September; ஐப்பசி, October; கார்த் திகை, November; மார்கழி, December; தை, January; மாசி, February; பங்குனி, march. Each of these begins about the 11th or 12th of the corresponding English month; so that it includes most of that month, and a part of the next. The months are also called in Sanscrit as சைத்திரம், வைசாகம், சேஷ்டம், ஆஷாடம், சிராவணம், பாத்திரபதம், ஆஸ்வீ சம், கார்த்திகம், மார்க்கசிரம், புஷியம், மாகம், பாற்கு ணம், To each of the months is alloted one of the twenty-seven asterisms; to April, சித்திரை; to May, விசாகம்; to June, மூலம்; to July, உத்திராடம்; to August, அவிட்டம்; to September, பூரட்டாதி; to October, அச்சுவினி; to November, கார்த்திகை; to December, மிருக சீரிடம்; to January, பூசம்; to February, மகம்; to March, உத்திரம்; that is, to the Tamil months corresponding generally with these. மாசந்தோறும்.
