kattari (p. 92) s. A pair of scissors, shears, snuffers, &c., கத்தரிக்கோல். Wils. p. 196. KARTARI. 2. The brinjal, egg-plant, வழு துணை, Solanum melongena. 3. A species of snake, ஓர்பாம்பு. 4. The hot period from the twenty-third of சித்திரை, to the seventh of வைகாசி, அக்கினிநட்சத்திரம். This they call முன் னேழுபின்னேழுகத்தரி. There are some particular ceremonies performed at this season, during which the brahmans are allowed to indulge themselves in potions of sherbet. கத்தரிக்காய், s. Brinjal fruit, வழு துணங்காய். கத்தரிக்காயிலேகாலுங்கையும்முளைத்தாற்போலே. As the feet and hands sprang up in a brinjal; i. e. dwarfish. கத்தரிப்புழு, s. A small worm or insect in brinjals, ஓர்புழு. முட்டைக்கத்தரி, s. One of the species. கொத்துக்கத்தரி--நித்தக்கத்தரி, s. a plant, Solanum stramonifolium. நீலக்கத்தரி, s. kttri (p. 92) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To cut with a pair of scissors, shears, &c., to clip, snip, shear, nip, to snuff, கத்தரியால்வெட்ட. 2. To gnaw--as insects or vermin, to nibble off, புழுவரிக்க. 3. v. n. To differ--as opinions, எண்ணம்வேறு பட. 4. To flash as priming powder, to go out as a match, &c., an explosion, to miss fire, நெருப்புப்பற்றாமற்போக. எலிபுடவையைக்கத்தரித்துப்போட்டது. Beams, poles, &c., placed with one end on the ground and the other united at the top for lifting a weight, கத்தரிகைபோற் பிணைத்தகால். 3. The legs of a camp-table, chairs, &c., நாற்காலிமுதலியவற்றின்கால். கத்தரிகைப்பூட்டு, s. A jointure after the manner of scissors. 8)

krppṉ (p. 96) --கரப்பான், s. Humors causing eruptions, scurf, scall, eruption, blain, any cutaneous or herpetic disease, a rash, erysipelas, tetter, ஓர்கிரந்திப்புண் (c.) கரப்பன்பண்டம், s. Eatables that promote eruptions. கரப்பன்மொய்த்தல், v. noun. Being full, as part of the body with hu mors and itching. கரப்பான்பூச்சி, s. A cockroach, Blatta orientails. கரப்பான்பூடு, s. A plant, Lepidagathis cristata. கண்டக்கரப்பான், s. Eruptions on the neck. மண்டைக்கரப்பான்--கபாலக்கரப் பான், s. A kind of itch that appears on the head of skull. உமிக்கரப்பான், s. A disease of children, a kind of scurf over the whole body. கத்தரிக்காய்க்கரப்பான், s. A kind of eruption supposed to be produced by eating brinjals. கொள்ளிக்கரப்பான், s. A kind of blain extending over the body in children generally between two and four years old. அக்கி--அக்கினிக்கரப்பான், s. The erysipelas. செங்கரப்பான், s. A kind of reddish scurf in children. கருங்கரப்பான், s. A dark kind of eruption. ஊதுகரப்பான், s. A disease of children, a kind of scall, Achy or crustalactea. கடுவான்கரப்பான், s. A cutaneous disease, in the legs of infants, of rare occurrence. 80)

kāṟu (p. 106) கிறேன், காறினேன், வேன், காற, v. a. To hawk, to hawk up phlegm, &c., காறி யுமிழ. 2. v. n. To taste bitter, musty, or rancid--as stale food, காறலாயுருசிக்க. கத்தரிக்காய் காறுகின்றது. The cooked brinjal tastes bitter. காறித்துப்ப--காறிப்போட--காறியுமிழ, inf. To hawk and spit. எல்லாரும் உன்முகத்திற் காறித்துப்புவார்கள்.... Every body will hawk and spit on your face; i.e. if you act thus, every one will treat you with contumely. காறல், s. A bitter, musty flavor, producing often a tendency to hawk and spit; the bitter taste of stale food; rancidity, காறுகிறருசி. 2. An eatable that tastes bitter and musty, காறலான பதார்த் தம். 3. v. noun. Hawking; retching, காறுதல். காறலாயிருக்க, inf. [local.] To feel an itching in the throat. 39)

koy (p. 146) கிறேன், தேன், வேன், ய, v. a. To crop or pluck fruits, flowers, ears of corn by the hand, &c., அறுக்க. 2. To prune, shear, crop off--as hair, &c.; to snip or cut off the head, &c., கத்தரிக்க. 3. [vul. கொய்சு.] To plait, pucker, gather a cloth into folds, சீலைகொய்ய. 4. [prov.] v. n. To experience dilatation and contraction--as in breathing, மூச்சுதொய்ய. கொய்சகம், s. [vul. கொசுவம், com. கொய்யகம், கொய்சுவனம்.] The plaited or gathered end of a woman's cloth, sometimes of a man's, சீலையின் கொய்சகம். கொய்துகட்ட--கொய்துடுக்க, inf. To gather up the end of a cloth and fasten it round the waist. கொய்துபிடிக்க, inf. To gather up a cloth, in a bunch and hold it in the hand. கொய்யகச்சட்டி, s. A chatty or pot with a kind of border or brim. கொய்யுளை, s. A horse's mane, குதிரை ப்பிடர்மயிர். 2. (சது.) A horse, குதிரை; [ex உளை, mane.] தலைகொய்ய, inf. To cut off the head. பூக்கொய்ய, inf. cūttai (p. 200) s. [prov. loc. சொத்தை.] That which is decayed--as tooth, &c. (c.) சூத்தைப்பல், s. A carious tooth. சூத்தைக்கத்தரிக்காய், s. Blasted brinjals. சூத்தைப்பாக்கு, s. A worm-eaten areka-nut. சூத்தையரிக்க, inf. To be decayed, or worm-eaten. 25)

tṟi (p. 230) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், தறிக்க, v. a. To lop, chop off, to cut off with force, சேதிக்க. 2. To cut with a heavy blow, வெட்ட. 3. To cut down with heavy and repeated blows, வெட்டிச்சரிக்க. 4. To hew; to cut fire-wood, துண்டிக்க. 5. To clip, or chop off, கத்தரிக்க. 6. [prov.] To shake and separate by a fan, தானியம்புடைக்க. 7. Sprinkling, with flour, or seasoning powder--as salt or pepper. பொடிபொட்டு, s. Any thing small, சிறியது. 2. That which is like chaff, பதரானது. பொடிப்போட, inf. To take snuff. 2.
