arukkaṉ (p. 25) --அர்க்கன், s. The sun, சூரியன். Wils. p. 68. ARKA. அருக்கபுத்தி, s. The daily motion of the sun in his apparent orbit, சூரிய கதி, also used for its mean motion for some stated days. அருக்கவிக்கேபம்--அருக்கவிக்ஷே பம்--அருக்கவிட்சேபம், s. The latitude of the sun, சூரியாட்சம். அருக்கனிலை, s. The place of the sun, astrologically considered, சூரியனிலை. அருக்கன்வீதி, s. The ecliptic divided into three parts of four sigus each. 2)

aḷi (p. 33) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. To become over-ripe, mellow, mature, அறக் கனிய. 2. To be over-boiled as rice, become as pap, குழைய. அளிய இகழ்தலிற்கோறலினிது. It is better to suffer death than disgrace. சோறளிந்துபோயிற்று. The rice is over-boiled, or reduced to pap by over-boiling. அளிந்தபழம், s. A fruit well ripened or over ripened. 31)

uku (p. 59) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To spill, sprinkle, pour down, சிந்த. 2. To discharge, pour out, விட. 3. To shed, cause to fall, drop, உதிர்க்க. (p.) கன்றுகுணிலாக்கனியுகுத்தமாமாயன். The mighty Vishnu who beat off wood-apples (from the tree) with a calf, using it as a cudgel. கண்ணீருகுத்தான். He shed tears. 8)

utir (p. 60) --உதிரு, கிறது, உதிர்ந்தது, உ திரும், உதிர, v. n. To drop off, fall off--as leaves, fruits, &c.; to be blasted, nipped, to fall off--as the hair, by disease or age, சொரிய. 2. To be shaken with the wind or otherwise, அசைக்கப்பட்டுதிர. 3. To crumble, fall to pieces as cakes (பிட்டு), பிதிர. 4. To fall as tears, சிந்த. 5. To die (used in imprecations), சாவ. நீசீக்கிரமுதிர்ந்துபோவாய். You shall die soon (a curse). தாரகையுதிர்ந்த. The stars fell. (ஸ்காந்தம்.) பூவுதிரப்பிஞ்சுதிரக்காயுதிரக்கனியுதிர. Let blossoms, buds, unripe fruits, and fruits drop off; i. e. let people of all ages die--an imprecation. உதிர்ந்தசருகு, s. Withered leaves fallen from the tree. உதிர்ந்தசருகுணவொழியவுணவில்லான். He who feeds upon dry leaves abstaining from all kinds of food. (பாரதம்) உதிர்பருவம், s. The quality or consistency of a thing that easily crumbles. உதிர்மணல், s. Loose sand a little moist. இலையுதிர்காலம், s. The season of the fall of the leaf. உதிரி, s. That which falls off, or is separated, exfoliation, உதிர்ந்தது. 2. A disease, smallpox of various kinds, so called from the scabs falling off, ஓர்வைசூரி. 3. A species of plantain, ஓர்வகைவாழை. உதிரிக்குத்து, s. Aching pain incident to one attacked with உதிரி. உதிரித்தழும்பு, s. The pits left by the smallpox, அம்மைவடு. வரகுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox whose pustules are remarkably diminutive, like வரகு seeds. சருகுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox attended by the sloughing away of the affected flesh. மிளகுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox, the pustules of which are the size of pepper seeds. கல்லுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox the pustules of which are very large. உதிர், s. Powder, dust, any thing crumbled, பொடி. உதிர்வு, v. noun. Falling off, &c., உதிர்கை. 2. Crumbling to pieces, உகுகை. 20)

ellvr (p. 74) s. All, all persons, எல் லாரும். (p.) எல்லவர்தமக்குமுத்தியிருங்கனியுதவுமன்றே. (Skanda) will vouchsafe heaven, that precious fruit to all. (ஸ்காந்.) 7)

oẕuku (p. 84) கிறது, ஒழுகினது, ம், ஒழுக, v. n. To flow, நீர்முதலியவோட. 2. To go, pass, walk, செல்ல. 3. To act, behave, maintain a course of conduct, act according to rule, to behave well, நெறிப்படிநடக்க. 4. To be long, நீள. (p.) 5. To leak, drop as water, fall by drops, trickle down, drip, drop through, to be shed, தொளைவழி யாயொழுக. ஒழுகுபொற்கொடிமூக்கு. The nose of the damsel who resembles a beautiful long creeper. (நைட.) ஒழுகொளிவிரிக்குங்கதிர்மணி. The radiant gem which diffuses flowing light. கூற்றமேயில்லத்திருந்தொழுகாப்பெண். But an unfaithful wife is to the household as death. பன்மார்புசேர்ந்தொழுகுவார். Those who habituate themselves to the embraces of many-- (நாலடி.) அதிரசமொழுகுங்கனிகள். Fruits flowing with much honey. குடமொழுகுகிறது. The vessel leaks. ஒழுகிசை, s. A flowing kind of melody in poetry in which nothing discordant occurs, பாவினோசையுளொன்று. ஒழுகிசைச்செப்பல், s. A poem consisting of வெண்சீர்வெண்டளை and இய ற்சீர்வெண்டளை. ஒழுகிசையகவல், s. A kind of அகவல் verse composed of நேரொன்றாசிரிய த்தளை and நிரையொன்றாசிரியத்தளை. ஒழுகுவண்ணம், s. A cadence which flows in an easy and pleasing style, ஓர்சந்தம். ஒழுகல், v. noun. Flowing. 2. Leaking, dropping, a leak. 3. Behavior. 4. Length. 5. Height. ஒழுகலான், appel. n. He who does not conduct himself virtuously (நீதிநெறி.) வாய்நீரொழுகல், v. noun. Drivelling. ஒழுக்கு, v. noun. Leaking, dropping, dripping, ஒழுகுகை. 2. Flowing, flow, நீர்முதலியவோடுகை. 3. The passing of urine in drops. ஒழுக்குக்குவைத்தசட்டிபோல். Like a vessel set to catch the water from a leak-spoken of one supported at the expense and pleasure of another. ஒழுக்குமாற்ற, inf. [prov.] To stop leak. ஒழுக்குவிழ, inf. To drop as water from a leak, to leak. ஒழுக்கெறும்பு, s. A species of large black ants which follow one another in a train. 8)

kṉi (p. 102) s. Fruit, பழம். 2. Fruit ripe, mellow fruit, முதிர்ந்தபழம். 3. (p.) Sweetness, தித்திப்பு. கனிகாலம், s. The fruit season from April to July inclusive. கனியுங்காயும், s. Fruits ripe and unripe, such as are eaten without cooking. கனிவகை, s. Various kinds of fruits. முக்கனி, s. The three principal fruits. See பழம். 54)

kṉi (p. 102) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. To ripen--as fruits, to grow ripe, to be ripe, mellow, luscious, sweet, பழுக்க. 2. To be over-ripe, நைய. 3. To be in flames, to glow, பழுக்கக்காய. 4. To grow tender, to melt, be soft--as the heart by affection, sexual love, devotion, &c., கரைய. 5. To be melted, to be in a state of fusion, உருக. 6. (p.) To be cheerful, be glad, மனங்க ளிக்க. 7. To be excessively enraged, கோபி க்க. 8. v. a. To bury, conceal, hide, புதைக்க. கிழங்குகனியவெந்தது. The yams are well boiled. கனிந்தசொல், s. Sweet words. கனிந்தபழம், s. Ripe fruit. கனிந்தபாடம், s. A well-learnt lesson, verse, &c., well committed to memory. கனியப்பண்ண, inf. To cause to grow tender--as fruits, or the heart. 2. To pacify, conciliate, win over. கனியப்பழுக்க, inf. To ripen to mellowness. கனியவெந்தஇரும்பு, s. Red-hot iron. கனியவைக்க, inf. To force the ripening of fruits. மனங்கனிய, inf. To melt--as the heart, with love, devotion, &c. அவன்மனதையொருபடிகனியப்பண்ணிப்போட் டாள். She has contrived to gain his affections. கனிதல், v. noun. Vehement anger, பெருங்கோபம். 2. Tenderness, இரங் கல். 3. The act of burying, புதைத்தல். 4. State of being over-ripe, நைதல். கனிவு, v. noun. Ripeness, maturity, mellowness, lusciousness in fruits, முதிர்வு. 2. Tenderness of mind, softness, melting of heart, இரங்குகை. 3. Connubial love, mutual affection, அன்பு. கனிவாயிருக்க, inf. To be in the enjoyment of mutual happiness, mirth, delight. 55)

To form as a fruit; to produce fruit, to bear fruit. காய்காய்க்கிறமரம், s. A tree that bears fruit, not a barren tree. காய்க்கடுக்கன், s. [prov.] An ear-ring with a sacred seed fastened in it, for a bead, from which, if water fall on the body, in bathing, &c., it is deemed very meritorious, உருத்திராட்டக்கடுக்கன். காய்க்குலை, s. A bunch of unripe fruits. காய்ச்சீர், s. [in prosody.] Any of the four metrical feet ending in காய்காய்; also, a metrical foot equivalent in measure to a foot in காய். See சீர். காய்த்தானியம், s. The nine kinds of grains, called முதிரை, நவதானியம். 2. A shrub, கம்பளிகொண்டான், Morus Indica. காய்பறிக்க, inf. To pluck unripe fruits. காய்மடி, s. The thick, hard udder of a cow unfit for milk. காய்மடை, s. [prov.] An offering of fruits, commonly to a ferocious deity, கனிவர்க்கநிவேதனம். காய்ம்பனை, s. [prov.] A fruit-bearing palmyra tree, as distinguished from young trees and males, காய்க்கும்பனை. காய்வள்ளி, s. See வள்ளி. காய்வெட்டிக்கள், s. [prov]. Toddy from a Palmyra tree, the young fruits of which are cut off that the juice may flow from the stalk, காயைவெட்டி இறக்குங்கள். கருக்காய், s. Grain almost ripe. கருங்காய், s.
