koṭṭu (p. 146) கிறேன், கொட்டினேன், வேன், கொட்ட, v. a. To strike, to beat a drum, a tambourine, &c., to play on an indtrument of music, பறைகின்னரமுதலியகொட்ட. 2. To hammer, beat, malleate--as a brazier, கம்மியரடிக்க. 3. To clap the hands, கைகொட்ட. 4. To dance--as in the கும்மி dance; to frolic, கும்மியடித்தாட. 5. To cast down and measure again and again; i. e. again, one marcal will not make two. கொட்டிகொட்டியளந்தாலுங்குறுணிபத்தாகாது. Though you measure over and over again, one marcal will not make two. கரப்பன்அள்ளிக்கொட்டிப்போட்டது. An eurption has broken out all over the body. பனிகொட்டுகிறது. The dew falls heavily. கொட்டிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To pour out and give, to give to excess, to lavish, to squander. 2. (fig.) To make a display of words, to say more than is proper. சப்பாணிகொட்ட, inf.
