aṟu (p. 33) கிறது, ந்தது, ம், அற, v. n. To be parted, detached, separated; to break as a rope, அறுபட. 2. To cease, become extinct, perish, end, vanish, அழிய. 3. To be decided, ended, தீர. (c.) அற, inf. [used adverbially.] With a verb it expresses; 1. Wholly, entirely, quite, முழுதும். 2. Intensely, excessively, மிகவும். 3. Negation, being without, as குற்றமற, without fault. அறச்செட்டுமுழுநஷ்டம். Selling things too dearly will cause entire loss; i. e. avarice causes loss. அறப்படித்தான். He has learnt all perfectly. எழுத்தறவாசி. Read with distinct articulation. அறக்கட்ட, inf. To tie tightly, இறுகக்கட்ட. 2. To monopolize, ஒருமிக்கக் கொள்ள. அறக்காய, inf. To be over-dried, over-boiled, over-heated. அறக்கூட்ட, inf. To sweep clean or thoroughly. அறக்கூர்மை, s. Excessive sharpness as of a writing style. அறச்சிவப்பு, s. Deep red, extremely red. அறச்சிறியது, appel. n. The smallest. அறப்பாடல், v. noun. [commonly, அறம்பாடல்.] Composing poetry containing imprecations or spells.--Note. Verses of this kind are supposed sometimes to be made without design, and thus to injure the maker and others. அறப்பார்க்க, inf. To examine thoroughly, sift. 2. To take measures to defeat, ruin or injure one by defamation. அறமிகுந்தால், v. part. At most, at the utmost, by any means, with the greatest effort. அறமிகுந்துவந்தாலும்வரட்டும். If it must come (if no effort will avert it) let it come. அறவிளக்க, inf. To polish thoroughly. அறவூத--அறவைக்க, inf. To refine metals by fire, புடமிட. அறாவிலை, s. An exorbitant price. அறுகுறை, s. A headless body, கவந்தம். அறுந்தருணம், s. Emergency, exigency. அறுந்தொகை, s. A sum, number, &c. in dividing, in which there is no remainder. அறுவாய், s. The parting made in sawing a piece of timber. 2. The opening of a cut or wound. 3. A junction, a conjunction of two periods of time, extremity, end. 4. Deficiency, what is wanted to complete a whole; [ex அறு, parted, et வாய், opening.] அறுவாய்நிறைந்தவயிர்மதி. The bright moon whose waning is restored. அற்றறுதி, s. A complete end, entire ruin. அற்றறுதிபற்றறுதியாய்விட்டது. All communion is withdrawn. அற்றான், s. A poor man, தரித் திரன், 2. A sage, முனிவன். அற்றுப்போக, inf. To be lost, to cease to be. தடையற, inf. [used adverbially.] Without impediment. அறவு, v. noun. Cessation, ceasing, extinction. 2. Parting, separation, breach. அறவுளி, s. Incantations performed over a sick person in order to restore him. 2. Cessation, end, முடிவு. அறுதல், v. noun. Finishing, liquidating a debt. 2. s. A broken thread, string, rope, bandage, &c. அறுந்திருப்பது. 3. A mean, despicable or faulty person, உதவாதவன் அந்த அறுதலையிங்கேவரவிடலாகாது, You must not allow that vagabond to be here. தாம்புமறுதல் தோண்டியும்பொத்தல். A broken rope and a leaky water-pot. அறுதலி, s. A widow, கைம்பெ ண்; [ex அறுதல், being plucked off (the marriage jewel), et இ, fem. termination; or அறு, torn off, et தலி, contracted from தாலி, the badge of marriage.] அறுதலிமகனுக்கங்கமெல்லாஞ்சேஷ்டை. The son of a widow is mischievous throughout his whole frame. அறுதி, v. noun. End, close, termination, முடிவு. 2. Decision, decisiveness, determination--as a decisive sale, entire renunciation of a title to landed property, தீர்ப்பு. 3. s. The purchaser's possession or title to property purchased, விற்கிரயச்சீட்டு. 4. Absence, non-existence, இல்லாமை. 5. Death, சாவு. அறுதியாய்ப்போயிற்று. It is settled, completed, ended. அறுதியிட்டுச்சொன்னான். He spoke decisively. நமக்குக்கிடைத்தது நமக்கறுதி. Thus much is realized and we shall not have to part with it. அந்தப்பழக்கத்தையறுதியாய்விட்டுவிட்டேன். I have relinquished that custom entirely. அறுதிக்கரை, s. The proper and just division or distribution of land. அறுதிச்சாதனம்--அறுதியுறுதி, s. A deed of transfer, அறுதிச்சீட்டு. அறுதிச்சொல், s. A decisive word or sentence. அறுதிப்பங்கு, s. What is given in full of all demands, a final allotment. அறுதிப்பாடு, s. Being accomplished, finished, decided. அறுதியிட, inf. To determine, to point a day, &c. 55)

To sustain the burden of a family. நாலுபேர்சமுகத்திலேயுத்தரித்தாலல்லோதெரியும்.... The merit of the parties will appear by a public discussion. அவனிடத்திலிருந்தென்னாலுத்தரிக்கக்கூடாது. I could not (of cannot) endure to live with him. இந்தப்பாதகமெப்போதுதானுத்தரித்துத்தீரும். O! when will the effects of this enormity be done away by suffering. உத்தரிக்கப்படாதது, appel. n. That which is intolerable, insufferable. 2. That which cannot be expiated. உத்தரிக்கிறஸ்தலம், s. The Romish purgatory, a place of atonement or retribution. நியாயமுத்தரிக்க, inf. kiṭ (p. 108) க்கிறேன், ந்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To lie, lie down, lie in a state of sleep or inactivity, &c., to lie-as a stone, or other lifeless bodies, படுக்க. 2. To be in a state or condition, to exist, இருக்க. 3. To remain, to continue, தரித்திருக்க.--Note. It is often used contemptuously, and sometimes assumes a transitive form. கிடக்கட்டும். Never mind; it is of no consequence; let it be; leave it untouched. அதுவெகுநாளைக்குக் கிடக்கும். It will endure a long time; will last long. காரணங்கிடக்கும். There is a cause. முட்டக்கிடவாது. It will not bear a slight hit or shove. ஊர்அமர்க்களமாய்க்கிடக்கிறது. There is a row or riot in town, lit. the country is a battlefield. அதுகிடக்க. Leaving that; further more. சும்மாகிட. Be quiet, hush. சென்றதுகிடந்திட. Leaving what is past. பகைவர்வருகிறாரென்று கிடக்கிறது. The rumour, the report is, that the enemy is coming. வியாதியாய்க்கிடக்க, inf. To be sick. கிடக்கை, v. noun. Lying, கிடத்தல். 2. s. State, condition, நிலைமை. 3. A bed, a couch, any sleeping place, படுக்கை. 4. The earth, பூமி. மனக்கிடக்கை, s. A feeling, as it exists in the mind; one's own feeling, மனக்கருத்து. 2. Emotion, pathos, passion, உளத்தியல். கிடப்பு, v. noun. Lying, கிடக்கை. 2. s. State, condition--commonly undersirable--as suffering, hunger, &c., இருக்கை. கிடை, v. noun. Lying, lying prostrate, a reclining posture, கிடக்கை. 2. s. State, condition--commonly not desirable, நிலை மை. 3. A fold, a pen, a stall, a nest, a lair, any place where beasts or birds lie, --as ஆட்டுக்கிடை, a sheep-fold, மாட்டுக் கிடை, a cow-stall, &c. கிடைகாட்ட, inf. To lie on the back-as beasts when dying. கிடைகூட்ட--கிடைமறிக்க--கிடைவை க்க, inf. To pen up or fold cattle for their manure. கிடைச்சரக்கு, s. Goods lying long on hand. கிடைதலை, s. The condition of being bed-ridden; prostration by sickness or old age. கிடைநாய், s. A shepherd's dog. கிடைப்பட, inf. To be laid on a bed of sickness, to lie ill. கிடைப்பாடு, v. noun. Lingering on a bed of sickness; being bed-ridden, being long lost, by theft, &c. கிடைபாய், s. Bed-mat, a mat for sleeping on. See பாய். கிடைமாடு, s. Cows in a pen, கிடையி லுள்ளமாடு. கட்டுக்கிடையாயிருக்க, inf. To lie a long time unopened, and thus liable to damage. கிடந்தகிடை, Lying as before. கிடந்தகிடையிலேகிடக்கிறான். He still lies as he did. 2. He remains as he was. கிடந்தகிடையைமறந்துவிட்டான். He has forgotten his former estate. நான்மூன்றுமாசங்கிடைவிடவில்லை. I have not left my bed for these three months. கிடவாக்கிடை, [vul.] Hardship, unusual severity, hunger, &c., கஷ்டம். கிடவாக்கிடைகிடக்க, inf. To be starved. 2. To pinch one's self. 27)

kiṭai (p. 109) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To be obtained, to come to one, to be realized, found; to come into one's possession, to turn to account, அடைய. With the agent in the dative, and the object in the nominative--as எனக்கொருபுஸ்்தகங்கிடைத்தது; lit. a book has come to me; i.e. I have obtained a book. 2. To encounter, to be confronted with--as warriors; to oppose, எதிர்க்க. In the first sense, the verb is commonly used in the neuter gender. எனக்குப்பாக்கியங்கிடைத்தது. I have become rich or happy. I have had prosperity. வழுக்கிவிழுகையில் ஊன்றுகோல்போல் நீ கிடைத் தாயே. You have offered yourself to me as a prop--as a walking-stick to one who slips and is ready to fall. 18)

cōpaṉam (p. 212) s. (Sa. S'obhana.) Beauty, handsomeness, அழகு. 2. Joy, felicity, festivity, an auspicious sign, omen or event, சுபம். 3. Congratulation, felicitation, blessing, benediction, வாழ்த்து. 4. Happy circumstances, seasonableness, advantage, முகூர்த்தம். (c.) 5. One of the twenty-seven astronomical yogas, ஓர் யோகம். (p.) ஆ! நல்லசோபனங்கிடைத்தது. O! a joyful event has happened to me; used also ironically when one has been well abused. [prov.] நெல்லுநடநல்லசோபனம். It is auspicious for planting paddy (perhaps from rain.) சோபனகாரியம், s. A joyful, prosperous, or auspicious event--spoken of weddings, maturity of a female, &c. சோபனங்கூற--சோபனஞ்சொல்ல, inf. To communicate good news as the birth of a son, a happy marriage, the attainment of a marriage fortune, a good office, &c. 2. To congratulate; to express one's self in auspicious language. 3. To utter benedictions, வாழ்த்த. சோபனச்செய்தி, s. Glad tidings. சோபனப்பாட்டு, s. Congratulatory songs. சோபனப்பிழை, s. Inauspiciousness. சோபனம்பாட, inf. To sing congratulatory songs. 88) *

nīkkm (p. 277) s. Separation, removal, disengagement, liberation, நீங்குகை. 2. An opening, interstice, gap, chink, cleft, fissure, crack, பிளப்பு. (c.) 3. Length, elongation, extension, நீளம். நீக்கங்கிடைத்தால்விடான். If he get room he will not let it slip; i. e. will take advantage of it. நீக்கப்பொருள், s. [in gram.] One division of the fifth case, ஐந்தாம்வேற்றுமைப் பொருள்களிலொன்று. நீக்கமானபல், s. Separated teeth. நீக்கவுருபு, s. [in gram.] The ablative of separation, removal, &c.--the signs of it are இல், இன், &c., ஐந்தாம்வேற்றுமையுருபு. 218)

peṟu (p. 334) கிறேன், பெற்றேன், வேன், பெற, v. a. To obtain, attain, secure, possess, அடைய. 2. To beget, generate, செனிப்பிக்க. 3. To bring forth, to have children, பிரச விக்க. 4. To experience, to be affected favorably or unfavorably, அனுபவிக்க. 5. To have the benefit or enjoy the privilege of, சுகிக்க. 6. v. n. To be worth, to bring a price, to be valid for, விலைபெற. 7. To be worthy, தக.--Note. In some cases this verb when preceded by another in the infinitive has much the sense of பட, as அடையப்பெறும், it may be had; சொல்லப் பெறும், it may be said; காணப்பெற்றறேன், I obtained sight of. ஆதாயத்தைப்பெற்றான். He obtained profit. இதுபடும்பிரயாசத்தைப்பெறாது. It is not worth the trouble. பத்துப்பணம்பெறும். It is worth ten fanams. அவன்பெறுமானவன். He is a worthy man. ஒருகாசும்பெறாதவேலை. It is worth nothing. பெற்றமனம்பித்துப்பிள்ளைமனங்கல்லு. The heart of the mother is bile [water]; the heart of the child is stone. பெறாத, neg. rel. part. Insufficient, unsound, ineffectual, &c. பெறாதஈடு. Insufficient security. பெறாதகாரியம். An unsound argument, or ineffectual lawsuit. பெறாதபேச்சு. Worthless talk. ஆற்றப்பெறாதவேதனை. Intolerable torment. muṭi (p. 356) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், ய, v. a. To tie, or make a knot, முடிச்சுமுடிய. 2. v. n. To end, terminate, be finished, or completed, முற்ற. 3. To die, சாக. 4. To be possible, capable, கூட. நான்சாப்பிட்டுமுடிந்தது. I have done eating. ஆராதனைமுடிந்தது. The service was over. (Chris. usage.) அதுஉன்னாலேமுடியுமா. Can it be accomplished by you? நான்வரமுடியாது. I cannot come. வேலைஎப்போதுமுடியும். When will the work be finished? அவன்காரியமுடிந்தது. His case is settled, [fig.] he is dead. அதுமுடியாது. It won't do. 2. It is impossible. அதைமுடியப்பார். See how it ends. ஆராய்ந்துமுடியாதகாரியம். It is an unfathomable mystery. அதைமுடிந்துவை. Tie it up in a cloth. நீர்காலால்முடிந்ததை நான்கையாலுமவிழ்க்கமாட்டே ன். The knot tied by your feet, I cannot untie with my hand; see அவிழ், v. முடிந்ததுமுடித்தல், v. noun. The recapitulation of an author, briefly re-stating the points discussed. See உத்தி. முடிந்ததுமுற்றும். Finis, end. (in books.) முடிந்துபோக, inf. To end, to be completed. முடிந்துபோட, inf. To tie up [money &c.] in a cloth. முடிய, inf. [as adv.] Unto the end, finally. See முற்றமுடிய. முடியல், s. All, the whole, எல்லாம். (சது.) முடியாமை, neg. v. noun. Endlessness, முற்றாமை. 2. Impossibility, incapability, கூடாமை. முடிச்சு, v. noun. A knot, a tie; something tied in a bundle. கொடுமுடிச்சு--படுமுடிச்சு, s. A hard intricate knot. See கொடுமை. முடிச்சுமுடிச்சாயிருக்கிறது. It is full of knots. முடிச்சுப்போனது மல்லாமல் இளிச்சவாய்ப்பட்ட முங்கூடக்கிடைத்தது. He has lost his money, and is left to grin. முடிச்சவிழ--முடிச்சுக்குலைய, inf. To become loose, or untied, as a knot, or as hair hanging behind and knotted. முடிச்சவிழ்க்க, inf. To untie a knot. முடிச்சவிழ்க்கி--முடிச்சுமாறி, appel. n. A pick-pocket. திருட்டுப்பையன்கலியாணத்தில்முடிச்சவிழ்க்கிபெ ரியதனம்பண்ணல். In the marriage of a thief, the pick-pocket is the conductor. முடிப்பு, v. noun. A tie, as முடிச்சு. 2. Money wrapt up in a cloth. See கிழி. 3. (p.) End, conclusion, result, completion, &c., as முடிவு. முடிப்புச்செலுத்த, inf. To pay money on a debt, பணங்கட்ட. முடிப்புச்சொல்ல, inf. To conclude a discourse. 2. As முடிவுசொல்ல. முடிப்புரி, s. [improp. முடிப்பிரி.] A receiver of rents, taxes, &c., a shroff, ச ராப்புக்காரன். முடிவு, v. noun. [in gram. முடிபு.] End, termination, close, completion, issue, result, expiration, conclusion, கடை. (சது.) 2. Death, destruction, மரணம். முடிவென்னசொல்லுகிறீர். What do you say of the result? முடிவறிய, inf. To know the result, or end, of a matter, as துறைபோக. முடிவிடம், s. The end, or termination, of a subject or sentence. முடிவிடங்கூறல், v. noun. Giving notice where a point in a discussion terminates. See உத்தி. முடிவிலேபார்க்க, inf. To view abstractly, to consider generically; not to take into consideration individual or particular instances, or determine from immediate causes, but to look to the prime cause, முடிவாய்யோசிக்க. பாரதிதனிலுள்ள செயலெலாமுடிவிலே பார்க்கினி ன்செயலல்லவோ.
