arcu (p. 22) s. Royalty, government, இ ராசாங்கம். 2. A king, இராசா. 3. A kingdom, the territory of a sovereign, இராச் சியம். 4. The planet Jupiter, வியாழம். (p.) அரசடைந்தான். He is come to the throne, he has obtained the kingdom. அரசங்கம், s. The six safe-guards of royalty; viz.: படை, குடி, கூழ், அம ச்சு, நட்பு, அரண். அரசளிக்க, inf. To govern. அரசாள, inf. To reign, govern. அரசாட்சி, v. noun. Reign, government, the exercise of government, the right of possession to the throne, இராசரிகம். அரசியல், s. Royalty, இராசாங்கம். 2. The duties or functions of a king, இராசரிகமுறைமை. They are six; viz.: அறநி லையறம், மறநிலையறம், அறநிலைப்பொருள், மறநிலைப் பொருள், அறநிலையின்பம், மறநிலையின்பம். அரசிருக்கை, s. The place of a king, or throne. அரசிறை, s. The king's tribute. அரசுசெய்ய, inf. To exercise the functions of government, govern, reign.

A capital or principal nail. கையாணி, s. A nail used in joining the spars of a roof. கடையாணி, s. The axle or linchpin. 2. The fastening of a neck-lace or other ornaments. குடையாணி--சடையாணி--குமி ழாணி, s. A nail with the head. உரையாணி, s. A golden pin, or test, used by goldsmiths in assaying gold. கூராணி, s. A pick. காலாணி, s. Pegs fixed for supporting the roof of Indian houses. மரவாணி, s. A plug, wooden pin. சுள்ளாணி, s. A very small nail. 21)

erukku (p. 73) s. A coarse, milky shrub, the charcoal of which is used in making gun-powder, ஓர்செடி, Calotropis gigantea. எருக்கமாலை, s. A garland of the flowers of the aforesaid shrub: 1. Worn by Siva. 2. Upon the neck of a malefactor before he is executed. 3. Used in adorning the corpse of a bachelor. எருக்கம்பால், s. Milk of the எருக் கு, useful in leprous and other cutaneous diseases, எருக்கினதுபால். எருக்கம்வேர், s. Root of the எருக் கு, employed medicinally for various purposes, எருக்கினதுவேர். வெள்ளெருக்கு, s. A white species of the above shrub. வெள்ளெருக்கஞ்சடைமுடியான். kñcā (p. 86) s. A medicinal plant, yielding leaves of narcotic and intoxicating qualities much used by smokers, ஓர்செடி, Cannabis sativa. 2. Any thing intoxicating, கள். (திவா.) கஞ்சாக்குடுக்கை, s. The கஞ்சா smoking pipe or hooka, the bowl of which in native use is formed of a cocoanut shell. கஞ்சாப்பிடித்தல், v. noun. Smoking கஞ்சா. கஞ்சாலேகியம், s. [prov.] A younger paternal uncle or maternal aunt; a father's younger brother or mother's younger sister, சிற்றப்பன், சிறிய தாய். 3. Any thing small--as in குஞ்சிப் பெட்டி. (See குஞ்சு.) 4. Virile membrum-as குஞ்சு. (from Sans. Kuncha, being little.) 5. Hair in general, மயிர். (little used.) குஞ்சிச்சடை, s. Short, tangled locks. குஞ்சிச்சடையன், s. An Indian monk, who wears short, tangled locks. குஞ்சியப்பன், s. [prov.] The father's younger brother, or the mother's younger sister's husband; also, a step-father, சிற்றப்பன். குஞ்சியாச்சி--குஞ்சியாயி s. [prov.] The mother's younger sister, or the father's younger brother's wife; also, a stepmother, சிறியதாய். குஞ்சிக்கூடை--குஞ்சிப்பெட்டி, s. A small ola basket. குஞ்சிமணி--குஞ்சுமணி s. An umbrella-bearer. குடைநிழற்ற, inf. To afford shade--as an umbrella. குடைக்காளான், s. A kind of mushroom, ஓர்காளான். குடைக்கொள்ள, inf. [prov.] To rise in a body--as milk over the fire, as some cakes in frying, &c. 2. To rise or be puffed up--as a cloth, &c. 3. To capsize, to be upset--as a cart. குடைச்செவி, s. The heavy tangled locks of Siva, or of his devotees. (c.) சடாமகுடம்--சடாமுடி, s. The entangled hair of Siva formed into a crown. (c.) சடாமகுடன், s. A plant, Achyranthes corymbosa, (L.) சடைத்தேங்காய், s. [prov.] A cocoanut whose husk abounds with fibres. சடைநாகம், s. A kind of ornament worn by women on the hair, ஓரணிகலம். சடைநாய், s. A shaggy dog. (c.) சடைபற்றிப்போக, inf. To grow bushy, shaggy, rough, as hair. 2. To become thick, as branches. சடைபில்லை--சடப்பில்லை, s. A kind or round golden ornament for the head of women.
