attu (p. 13) கிறேன், அத்தினேன், வேன், அத்த, v. a. To join, attach, unite, make to agree, to combine, இசைக்க. (p.) 2. To apply as medicine to a wound, மருந்தொற்ற. 3. To lean, rest, stay upon, சார, also (fig.) to depend upon, துணைப்பற்ற. 4. v. n. To reach, arrive at, அடைய. இரண்டுதுண்டையொன்றாயத்தித்தைத்தான். He united and sewed the two pieces. மருந்தைக்காயத்தின்மேலத்திவைத்தான், He applied the medicine to the wound. என் தோளையத்திக்கொண்டுவரலாகாதா. Is it wrong for you to lean on my shoulder? அந்தச்சமாசாரம்எசமான்காதிலுமத்திப்போய்விட்டது. That news has reached our master's ears. அத்து, v. noun. Uniting, joining, making to agree, இசைப்பு. 2. uḷvu (p. 67) s. Realities, internal or secret affairs, உட்காரியம். 2. Secrets, or internal affairs, seen or ascertained by a spy to be revealed to others, இரகசியசமாசாரம். 3. Spying, prying, espionage, வேவு. 4. A spy, ஒற்றன்; [ex உள், inside.] உளவில்லாமற்களவில்லை. No robbery takes place without a spy. உளவடைக்குதல், v. noun. Defending one by excusing his faults. உளவறிய, inf. To learn the secrets of a person, family, state, &c., for some sinister object. உளவன்--உளவாளி--உளவாள்-உளவுகாரன், s. A spy, a scout. உளவனில்லாமலூரழியாது. Without a spy the country cannot be destroyed. உளவுகண்டவன், s. One who is acquainted with the secrets of another. உளவனாக்க, inf. To engage one in order to fish out the secrets of another. உளவுசொல்ல, inf. To discover or expose secrets, உள்ளானவைகளையறிந்துசொ ல்ல. உளவுபார்க்க, inf. To spy, pry into, or expose another's affairs for a bad purpose, வேவுபார்க்க. 37)

cēmam (p. 208) s. (also க்ஷேமம்.) Preserving, protection, safety, preservation, காவல். 2. Safeguard, defence, security, தஞ்சம். 3. Hoard, treasure buried, things reserved, புதைபொருள் 4. Binding and shrouding a corpse for burning or interment, சவச்சேமம். 5. (c.) Happiness, well-being, welfare, இன்பம். 6. A secure place, a room, well guarded, அரணானவிடம். 7. A prison, cage, dungeon, or subterraneous prison, காராக் கிரகம். 8. A guard-house, சிறைச்சாலை. சேமம்புகினுஞ்சாமத்துறங்கு. Though you are in a prison sleep only three hours. சேமக்காரன், s. [prov.] A guard. 2. A trusty, confidential person. 3. A thrifty. careful person. சேமங்களைவிசாரிக்க, inf. as சேதிவிசா ரிக்க.) To inquire after one's welfare. சேமங்கொள்ள, inf. [prov.] To smear a place with cowdung, lay a corpse there and dress it, for the funeral pile, or the grave. சேமகாலம், s. Time of prosperity or plenty--opposite to சாமகாலம். சேமதருமம், s. Substantial, or permanent merit, virtue, &c.--oppos. to மா யாதருமம். சேமத்திரவியம்-சேமநிதி, s. Gold, gems, &c, kept with great care. (p.) சேமத்தில்வைக்க, inf. [in ancient history.] To put in custody--as children born under an unlucky horoscope, who are kept from the sight of their parents a certain number of years, according to the prescription of an astrologer. 2. Frustration, thwarting, விலக்கு. 11. Opposition, check, impediment, தடை. 12. Getting money by deception, swindling, பித்தலாட்டம். 13. (fig.) A cunning remark, a repartee, an insinuation, சூத்திரப்பேச்சு. 14. Patting, மெய்ப்பரிசத் திலொன்று. 15. Publishing by striking a gong, &c., தாளம்போடல்.--Note. In many of these meanings the word is used in cant. (c.) அவனுக்குநல்லதட்டு. He had a good profit. சாப்பாட்டுக்குஇப்போதுஅதிகதட்டு. Now a days, I am much straitened for food. ஒருதட்டுத்தட்டிவிட்டான். He has warded it off, acquitted himself well, given a gentle blow. ஒருதட்டுத்தட்டியிருக்கிறார். He has said something to frustrate the matter, or thrown in a word, &c. [prov.] தட்டிலும்வீச்சிலுங்காரியம்பார்க்க. To make a display and shift the expense on others. தட்டிலேவயிறுவளர்க்க. To support one's self at another's expense. தட்டுக்காரன், s. A rogue, a cunning fellow. 2. An evader, a prevaricator. தட்டுத்தட்ட, inf. To give a tap. 2. To evade. 3. To thwart or frustrate. 4. To act dexterously. தட்டுத்தடவல், v. noun. As தட்டல்த டவல், which see. தட்டாயிருக்க, inf. To be destitute, to be in straits. செலவுக்குத்தட்டாயிருக்கிறது. We are in want of the means of subsistence. தட்டுக்கொட்டு, v. noun. [prov.] Exterior show without accomplishing one's wish. 2. A bauble, gew-gaw. 3. Living by stratagem, &c. தட்டுத்தடக்கு, v. noun. Hesitation, impediment. தட்டுத்தடக்கில்லாமல்வாசிக்கிறான். He reads fluently. தட்டுத்தாவரம், s. [prov.] Resort, resource, refuge, புகலிடம். தட்டுப்பட, inf. To be hit, to be struck--commonly accidentally. 2. To be tapped or beaten as a drum, cymbal, &c. 3. To lack, to be wanting--as stores, money, rain, &c. 4. To be felt by contact. 5. To be stopped in progress, as a vehicle, a performer, &c., To be understood. அவன் என்கண்ணுக்குத்தட்டுப்படவில்லை. I have not seen him any where. இப்போதுதான்எனக்குத்தட்டுப்பட்டது. Now I understand it. தட்டுண்டுபோக, inf. To be beaten off, scattered. 2. To be all threshed out--as rape-seed. 3. To be thwarted, to fail, as an expected good. 4. To be upset, overturned. 5. To exchange commodities clandestinely, and fraudulently. தட்டுக்கெட, inf. To be greatly alarmed, to stand aghast. 2. To be in extremity, in destitution. 3. To suffer loss. தட்டுக்கெட்டுத்தடுமாறிப்போனான். He was greatly surprized. தட்டுக்கெட்டசமாசாரம், s. A complicated business. தட்டுக்கேடு, v. noun. Extremity, want, destitution. 2. Loss. 3. Perplexity, surprize. 4. Defeat, discomfiture, ruin. தட்டுமாறி, appel. noun. A swindler. 37)

nṭ (p. 267) க்கிறேன், ந்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To walk, go, pass, proceed; to go on foot, செல்ல. 2. To happen, to occur, to ensue, to take place as actions, to be exercised as the passions or affections, சம்பவிக்க. 3. To prevail as war, to be rife as discuse, to subsist, as influence, to be progressive, to proceed, or go on, வழங்கிவர. 5. To be in progress as performance or a transaction, நிகழ்ந்துகொண்டிருக்க; (c.) [ex. Sa. Nat'a to move slightly.] நடக்கிறதுநடக்கட்டும்தெய்வமிருக்கிறது.....Let happen what will, God exists. அவனுக்குநன்றாய்நடக்கிறது. He has great influence. 2. He is hospitably entertained. எங்கும்அப்படிநடந்துவருகிறது. It is so every where. நடந்துஅடிபட்டிருக்கவேணும். We must be practised in any thing. நடக்கிறகாலம், s. Time of prosperity or influence, செல்காலம். நடந்தகாரியம்-நடந்தசமாசாரம்-நடந்த செய்தி, s. [sometimes நடந்தகதை.] Events, facts, transactions, authentic accounts. நடந்தநடக்கை, s. Proceedings. 2. Deportment. நடந்துகொள்ள, inf. To behave well or ill, commenly toward a superior. நடந்துவர, inf. To come walking. 2. To occur at all times. நடந்தேற, inf. To be accomplished, executed, performed, to come walking. 2. To occur at all times. நடந்தேறப்பண்ண, inf. To manage a thng for its success. நடபடி, s. [sometimes நடைபடி.] Act, conduct. நடப்பன, appel. n. (plu.) Those which walk, all moveable things--oppos. to நிற்பன, immoveable objects. (p.) நடக்கை, v. noun. Walk, behaviour, conduct, deportment, manners, செய்கை. 2. Course, career, ஒழுக்கம். (c.) நல்லார்பொல்லாரைநடக்கையாலறியலாம். The good and may be known by their conduct. நடத்தல், v. noun. Walking, behaving, &c. நடப்பு, v. noun. Going and coming, போக்குவரவு. 2. Behaviour, conduct, demeanour, நடக்கை. (c.) 3. [prov.] Influence, prosperity, செல்வாக்கு. 4. (loc.) Taking the badge of marriage from a widow, திருவாங்குகை. அவனவன்நடப்பதுக்குத்தக்கதுநடக்கும். Each one will get the fruit of his doings. நடப்பானகாலம், s. Time of prosperity. நடப்பானவழி, s. A frequented way. (c.) நடப்புக்காரன், s. [prov.] A man of influence or prosperity. 2. A customer. நடவாதகாரியம், s. An unusual thing. 2. An impossibility. (c.) நடவாதநடத்தை, s. Unprecedented conduct, action, folly, &c. 2. Immoral conduct.
