carīram (p. 167) s. The living human body, the tenement of the soul, மனிதருடல். (c.) 2. Body in general of men or brutes, மிருகாதி களினுடல். W. p. 832. SAREERA. (not com. in Tamil.) சரீரகுணம், s. Temperament, disposition or state of body. 2. The disposition of the body with regard to the different effects of food, &c., on different persons. சரீரக்கட்டு, v. noun. Compactness of body. See கட்டு. சரீரக்கூறு, s. See under கூறு. 2. Any state of the body, as corpulent, thin, &c., thus. 1. வாதசரீரம், a constitution in which flatulent humors prevail, causing bloatedness, &c. 2. பித்தசரீரம், in which the bilious humors preponderate, causing thinness, emaciation, fretfulness, heat, &c. 3. சிலேட்டுமசரீரம், in which phlegmatic humors prevail, causing pulmonary diseases, dryness, &c. சரீரங்கனத்துக்கொள்ள, inf. See under கனம். சரீரங்காய--சரீரங்கரைந்துபோக, inf. To be emaciated, as the body by fever, &c. See காய். v. சரீரசகாயம், s. See under சகாயம். சரீரசங்கட்டம், s. Pain in the body, sickness. சரீரசஞ்சலம், s. Disease, ailment. சரீரசம்ரட்சணை, s. Preservation of the health of the body, nourishment of the body. (Rare.) சரீரசம்பந்த, adj. Belonging or relating to the body. சரீரசவுக்கியம், s. Health, sound state of the body. சரீரசுத்தி, s. Cleanliness, or purification of the body. சரீரஸ்மரணை, s. [com. சரீரசுரணை.] Sense of feeling in the body. சரீரத்திரயம், s. A three-fold enumeration of bodies, as given in the Agama. 1. தூலசரீரம், the gross body which perishes at death. 2. சூக்குமசரீரம், the subtile or ethereal body, or case and immediate organ of the soul, accompanying that through its various transmigrations. It is the embryo or seed of the respective bodies assumed to be, and is, capable of sensations in enjoyment, suffering, &c., beyond those of the grosser body. 3. காரணசரீரம், the original type or embryo of the body, as existing with the soul in its original state. See under காரணம். Another three-fold classification describes bodies as assumed by the soul with its சூக்குமம் adapted to three different states to which it is subject, namely. 1. யாதனாசரீரம், a body adapted to suffering, assigned to the soul for its abode in the infernal regions. 2. பூத னாசரீரம், a body capable of the sensual felicities of சுவர்க்கம், or the abode of Indra. 3. பரிணாமசரீரம், changeable bodies, the bodies of the present state, in which moral actions are performed. சரீரநோய், s. Pains in the body from over exertion, walking, cold, &c. சரீரபுஷ்டி, s. Corpulency. 2. A healthy, thriving state of the body. சரீரப்போக்கு--சரீரப்போங்கு, s. The state of the body; different states of constitution. சரீரமரணம், s. [in Christ. usage.] Death of the body, oppo. to ஆத்துமமரணம், spiritual death. சரீரவதை, s. Mortifying the body by austere penance. சரீரவாகு--சரீரவாக்கு, s. The temperament of the body. சரீரவுபாதி, s. Bodily pain. சரீரவுறவு, s. Consanguinity, oppo. to ஞானவுறவு. (p.) சரீராவச்சின்னவான்மா, s. The individuated soul as it exists in bodies respectively--as distinguished or detached from the universal spirit, சீவான்மா; [ex சரீரம், et அவச்சின்னம், separated.] (சது.) சரீரி, s. A sentient soul, a corporeal being--oppo. to அசரீரி, an immaterial existence. சுகசரீரம், s. A healthy constitution, in which the three humors are in equilibrium. தூலீத்தசரிரம், s. A fat or corpulent body. வச்சிரசரீரம், s. An adamantine body, (a form used in benedictions.) See வச்சிரம். 2. Strong and healthy body. கற்சரீரம், s. Stone-like body. See கல். 13) *

tḷtḷ (p. 229) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To be plump, full, sleek, as the body, சரீரந் தளதளக்க. 2. To be brilliant, as a diamond, as drops on leaves, &c., பிரகாசிக்க. (c.) தளதளப்பு, v. noun. Being plump or full, as the face, முகமலர்ச்சி. 26)

tāngku (p. 232) கிறேன், தாங்கினேன், வேன், தாங்க, v. n. To bear up, to support, தாபரிக்க. 2. To endure, to sustain, சகிக்க. 3. To press heavily, அழுத்த. 4. To ward off, to avert, விலக்க. 5. To carry, சுமக்க. 6. To maintain, sustain by food, ஆதரிக்க. 7. To protect, to guard, காக்க. 8. To pole a boat, தோணி தள்ள. 9. To treat tenderly. with great kindness as a child or a friend, பராமரிக்க. 1. To solicit cringingly, கெஞ்ச. 11. To press against to strike, to graze a boil so as to cause pain, ஊன்ற. 12. To maintain, to have--as a disposition, சாதிக்க. 13. To tolerate. suffer permit, இடங்கொடுக்க. 14. To wear, to be invested with, தரிக்க. 15. To assist one in rising, in raising or carrying a burden, or climbing a tree, தூக்க. 16. To bear with a light hand, as when beating, ploughing, &c., கைதாங்க. 17. To halt in speaking or walking, நிறுத்த. (c.) இந்தப்போசனம்சீவனத்துக்குத்தாங்காது. This food will not support life. காற்றுக்குத்தாங்காது. It will not bear the wind. என்னாலேஅவ்வளவுகொடுக்கத்தாங்காது. I cannot afford to give so much. அவன்அடிதாங்குவான். He can endure blows. அவனுக்குச்சாப்பாடுகொடுத்துத்தாங்காது. No one can afford to feed him. காலைத்தாங்கித்தாங்கிவைக்கிறது. The animal limps in walking. அவனையேதாங்கிக்கொண்டுதிரிகிறான். He pleases him, to gain his own purpose. அவன்கையைத்தாங்கு. Ward off his hand, his blow, &c. மறுமொழிச்சொல்லித்தாங்காது. There is no end of answering such questions. [prov.] சரீரந்தாங்காது. The constitution will not hear it. தாங்கித்தாங்கிப்பேசுகிறான். He speaks haltingly. மாடுகால்தாங்கித்தாங்கிவைக்கிறது. The bullock hobbles (by pain in the hoof). தாங்கத்தாங்கத்தலையிலேற. To become the more arrogant, the more kindness is shown. 2. To be supercilious on account of humble applications. மலையைமலைதாங்கவேண்டும்மண்ணாங்கட்டிதாங்கு மா. One moutain supports another, can a clod of earth do it? விஞ்சையிற்றாங்கினன் சடையன் வெண்ணெய்யிற் தஞ்சமென்றோர்களைத்தாங்குந்தன்மைபோல். (Nalan) upheld, by charms (the mountain), as Sadaiyan of Truvennainallur supported those who came to him for refuge. (இராமா.) தாங்கமாட்டான். One unable to endure. தாங்குகோல், s. [prov.] A boat-men's pole, தோணிதாங்குகோல். தாங்கிக்கொண்டிருக்க, inf. To bear in mind, to brook. 2. To sustain sickness, adversity, &c. தாங்கிக்கொண்டுபோக, inf. To carry in the arms. 2. To receive and treat very civilly or politely. 3. To escort or conduct, as a lady by the arm. 4. To solicit very urgently. தாங்கிக்கொள்ள, inf. To bear. 2. To ward off, to screen, &c. 3. To maintain, to support. 4. To endure, சகிக்க. தாங்கித்தடுக்கிட, inf. To treat very tenderly; (lit.) to bear one up and spread a mat for him. (c.) தாங்கிவெட்ட, inf. To cut or hew lightly. கைதாங்கியடிக்க, inf. To beat or strike lightly. கைதாங்கியுழ, inf. To plough lightly. தாங்கல், v. noun. Bearing, supporting. சுமத்தல். 2. A grievance, விசனப்படுகை. 3. Displeasure, regret, umbrage, மனக் குறை. (c.) அவர்உன்மேலே மெத்தவுந்தாங்கலாயிருக்கிறார். He is much grieved with you. மனத்தாங்கல், v. noun. Want of cordiality. தாங்கல்வருத்துவிக்க, inf. To offend one. தாங்கி, appel. n. A support, prop, defence, ஆதாரம், as கைதாங்கி, சுமைதாங்கி, தீத் தாங்கி, மண்டாங்கி, which see. 2. A ferrule, பூண். 3. A golden ferrule put on the end of an elephant's tusk, கிம்புரி. 4. A fastening for an ornament, பணிப்பூட்டு. குடிதாங்கி. One who supports his family or others. தாங்கு, v. noun. [prov.] Bearing, supporting, as தாங்கல். 2. A support, as தாங்கி. 3. A staff of pike, ஈட்டிக்காம்பு. 16) *

tuṭi (p. 245) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To quiver, shake, throb, flutter, palpitate, flounder as a fish thrown ashore, அசைய. 2. To be rude, mischievous, giddy, roguish, குதிக்க. 3. To be anxious through suspense; to be eager, to be in great agitation, தத்தளிக்க. 4. To shine, glitter, corruscate, lighten, மின்ன. 5. (fig.) To suffer by the gnawings of hunger, பசியினால்வருந்த. (c.) துடித்துப்பதைத்துவந்தான். He came in extreme anxiety, and agitation. பெற்றகுடல்துடிக்கிறது. The mother yearns over her child; (lit.) her bowels yearn. அரணைவால்துடிக்கின்றது. The tail of the lizard (cut off) leaps. பிள்ளைதுடிக்கிறது. The child is fidgety, rude, &c. கண்துடிக்க, inf. To quiver or throb as the eye, supposed to be indicative of good or ill, to the person or his relations.--Note. If the right eye or other right part of a man throb, it is deemed a good sign, but of a woman it is bad and vice versa. மனந்துடிக்க, inf. To be agitated, as the mind, through anxiety, anger, disappointments. துடி, v. noun. Quivering, palpitating, dancing, &c. துடிசாத்திரம்--துடிநூல், s. The art of determining events by the quivering of different parts of the body, also works treating on the art, ஓர்நிமித்தநூல். துடிதுடிக்க, inf. To quiver, throb, flutter, பதைபதைக்க. 2. To be rude, fidgety, mischievous, கடுகடுக்க. (c.) துடித்தல்--துடிப்பு--துடிதுடிப்பு. v. noun. Quivering, throbbing, fluttering, பதைபதைப்பு. 2. Rudeness, mischief, கடு கடுப்பு. 3. Great anxiety. சரீரந்துடித்தல், v. noun. Quivering of the body, supposed to occur of itself in case of the sickness of a relative, also at the sight of one suffering, or through anger. துடியானவன், appel. n.
