pāṣai (p. 307) s. A language, tongue, speech. W. p. 619. B'HASHA. 2. Secret language; expressive signs or signals, as a mode of communicating ideas, குழூஉக்குறி. 3. Distinctive sounds of birds or beasts, regarded as their language, மிருகமுதலியவற்றின்ஒலிக் குறி. 4. A conditional curse, in which a person binds himself, by oath, to wreak vengeance on his foe, சபதம்.-- The eighteen languages of India are: 1. அங்கம், Bengal proper; 2. அருணம், Agra; 3. கலிங்கம், the Northern cirears, Telinga; 4.கௌசிகம், Cutch, or Carnataca; 5.காம்போசம், Camboja, in the north of India; 6. கொங்கணம், Konkan, on the Malabar coast; 7. கோச லம், Kowsali, or Oude; 8. சாவகம், Javanese, Malacca; 9. சிங்களம், Cingalese; 1. சிந்து, Sind, along the Indus; 11. சீனம், Chinese; 12. சோனகம், Hindustani; 13. திராவிடம். A foreign language; [ex அந்தரம், difference.] பாஷாந்தரமாக்க--பாஷாந்தரப்படுத்த, inf. To translate into another language. பாஷைகூற--பாஷைசொல்ல, s. To swear, to pronounce an imprecation. பாஷைக்காரர், s. [pl.] Europeans, chiefly Englishmen. 2. The owners of a language. பாஷைபங்கம், s. [prov.] A threat of vengeance under oath. பாஷைபடிக்க--பாஷையைப்படிக்க, inf. To learn a language. பாஷைபேச, inf.
