caṉṉi (p. 173) s. Affection of the brain, apoplexy, paralysis, convulsions, delirium from fever, &c., சீதநோய்; [perhaps from the Sa. Sanipata, with its suffix apocopated.] --Note. In medical works, thirteen kinds of சன்னி are described. viz.: 1. கண்டகுப் சம், nervous affections of the throat, sore throat; [ex குப்சம், crookedness.] 2. சந்தி கம், (Union.) a disease arising from improper sexual intercourse. It is of two kinds. சுகசன்னி, of a man after bathing with the use of oil for anointing, and சூத கசன்னி, of a female during menstruation. 3. தாந்திரிகம், nervous debility. 4. பகீகனநேத்தி ரகம், affection of the nerves of the eye, blindness. 5. ருக்தாகம், pains of the body attended with thirst. 6. சிஃவீகம், nervous affection of the tongue, dumbness. 7. பிர லாபம், falling sickness, epilepsy. 8. அந்த கம், convulsion preceeding death. 9. ரக்த ஷடீவி, mucus mingled with blood from the nose. 1. சித்தவிப்பிரமம், fainting fits, syncope. 11. சீதகாத்திரகம் or சீதாங்கம், congestion of blood attended with spasms and profuse perspiration; spasmodic cholera. 12. கர்நீகம், nervous deafness. 13. அபின்னி யாசம், convulsion, distortions. சன்னிகுன்மம், s. Convulsive fits. (R.) சன்னிக்கட்டி, s. [prov.] A tumor near or in the ear, காதுவீக்கம். சன்னிக்குணம், s. The stage of a disease bordering upon that of coma, apoplexy, &c., 2. Symptoms, indications, &c., of coma, &c. (c.) சன்னிநரம்பு, s. Nerves of the great toe, which being injured are sometimes inflamed so as to produce lock-jaw. சன்னிநாயகம், s. A plant--black cumin, கருஞ்சீரகம். See சீரகம். 2. A medicinal plant, தும்பைப்பூண்டு. Phlomis Indic. L. சன்னிநாயன்--சன்னிகணாயன், s. (lit. god of fits.) As சன்னிநாயகம், 2. சன்னிபாதம், s. A morbid state of the three humors of the body resulting in paralysis, convulsions, &c.--as சன்னி. W. p. 891. SANNIPATA. சன்னிபாதசுரம், s. (also சன்னிவாதசுர ம்.) Convulsions accompanied with fever. சன்னிபிறக்குதல், v. noun. The inducing of coma. c. அலறுசன்னி, s. Convulsions accompanied with laughter, hysterics--as கம் பீரசன்னி. இரணசன்னி--புறவீச்சுச்சன்னி, s. External convulsions. இசிவுசன்னி, s. Lock-jaw. see underஇசி. v. உள்வீச்சுச்சன்னி, s. Internal convulsions; oppo. to புறவீச்சுச்சன்னி. மாந்தசன்னி, s. convulsions from indigestion, commonly in children. முகவாதசன்னி, s. Paralysis causing the distortion of the face. மூடுசன்னி, s. I wish you health. சுகமேபோகலாம். You may walk in and see. சுகக்காரன், s. A whoremonger. (R.) சுகங்காட்ட, inf. To present appearances of convalescence. 2. To indulge or humor one, to allure, give one a taste of enjoyments. சுகங்காண, inf. To recover from sickness, in whole or in part, to be convalescent. சுகங்கொடுக்க, inf. To give health, as God in his providence by medicine, &c. சுகசரீரம், s. A healthy constitution in which the three humours are in equilibrium. சுகசரீரி--சுகசீவி, s. A healthy person. சுகசன்னி, s. A fit of apoplexy or tetanus, from unseasonable intercourse. See சன்னி. சுகசெல்வம், s. Health and prosperity, luxury. சுகசெல்வி, s. [mas. சுகசெல்வன்.] A female enjoying the pleasures and luxuries of life. சுகசெய்தி, s. Welfare, state of health, &c., as inquired after. சுகஞ்சுகம், [an auspicious phrase.] Health! health! spoken by a woman in pouring the last water to wash or bathe her child, and sometimes by adults after bathing, &c, மங்கலமொழி. சுகதுக்கம், s. Comforts and troubles, joys and sorrows, as attendant on the present life, or as awarded by the Deity for the actions of former births. சுகதுக்கஞ்சுழல்சக்கரம். Joys and sorrows are a turning wheel. சுகதுக்கி, s. One subject to joy and sorrow, a soul subject to births. (p.) சுகத்தாழ்வு, s. v. noun. Illness, want of sound health. சுகத்துக்குப்போக, inf. To remove one's self to a suitable locality, for enjoying health, to go to a sanitarium. (c.) சுகமாய்ப்போக, inf. To enter any place without molestation, obstruction, &c. 2. To be recovered from any disease. சுகபேதி--சுகவிரேசனம், s. A mild purgative, aperient, laxative, deobstruent. (c.) சுகபோகம், s. Sensual or luxurious enjoyments; sensual delight. சுகபோகி, s. A sensualist, an epicure. சுகபோசனம், s. Wholesome food. சுகப்பட, inf. To recover from disease, to be convalescent. 2. To be convenient, to suit, to be comfortable. சுகப்பேறு, s. [prov.] Safe child-birth after the full period of gestation. சுகவாசி, s. One living comfortably without toil. 2. Fixed or permanent inhabitant. சுகவாசிக்குடிகள், s. See under குடிகள். சுகவார்த்தை, s. A good account of one's health. சுகவாசித்தீர்வை, s. Tribute or tax paid to land-lords. சுகவாசிவாரம், s. The share of produce accruing to the cultivator of the soil. சுகவாழ்க்கை--சுகவாழ்வு, s. Health and prosperity. சுகவிருத்தி, s. Welfare. 2. Intelligence of one's welfare. சுகவீனம், s. Illness, ill-health. 2. Trouble. சுகாதனம்--சுகாசனம், s. An honorable, or a comfortable seat, நல்லாசனம். 2. The fixing of an idol in its place with due ceremony, விக்கிரகஸ்தாபகம். 3. The last division of the third அங்கயோகம், or posture of the silent devotee, for which there is no prescribed form, the person being left to his own choice, அங்கயோகத் தொன்று. 4.
