A water-pot dedicated to the sun. சூரியகுலம்--சூரியவமிசம், s. The Solar dynasty, originally reigning in Oude--one of three governing families. for many generations, the two others being சந்திரகுலம் and அக்கினிகுலம். சூரியசங்கிரமம்--சூரியசங்கிராந்தி, s. The transit of the sun from one sign to another. W. p. 942. SOORYYASANKRAMA. சூரியசந்திரர்முதலியோர்வீதி, s. The are of the horizon which comprehends the northern and southern declinations of the sun, moon, &c., being of three divisions called மேடவீதி, இடபவீதி, and மிதுனவீதி. See சூரியவீதி. சூரியசரம், s. As சூரியகலை, 1. சூரியசித்திரம், s. [in astrol.] A subdivision of சூரியபுத்தி. சூரியசித்தாந்தம், s. An astronomical work, ஓர்கணிதநூல். See சித்தாந்தம். சூரியதிசை, s. The reign of the sun, as a planet. See திசை. சூரியதீக்ஷணம்--சூரியதேசசு, s. The radiance or heat of the sun, கடுவெயில். (p.) சூரியநமஸ்காரம்--சூரியநமற்காரம், s. The worship of the sun. 2. Adoration of the sun by sick persons, especially for diseases in the eyes. See நமஸ்காரம். சூரியபகவான்--சூரியநாராயணமூர்த்தி, s. The sun--as a deity. சூரியபுத்தி, s. [in astrol.] A division in சூரியதிசை, consisting of three months and eighteen days. 2. [in astron.] Sun's daily motion. சூரியபுடம், s. The drying of medicines in the sun. 2. Worship of the sun either by Saivas competent to perform பூசை, or such as belong to the சூரியவாதம். சூரியப்பலகை, s. [prov.] A plank placed at the transom, or lintel over a door. (c.) சூரியப்பிரபை--சூரியப்பிரவை, s. The radiance or splendor of the sun, சூரிய காந்தி. 2. An ornament of gold set with jewels worn on the head by females on special occasions, with another called சந்திரப்பிரபை. 3. [loc.] A seat or throne with a circlet like the sun, for an image, on festival occasions, விருத்தகேடகம். சூரியபிறை, s. [com.] As சூரியப்பிரபை, 2. சூரியமண்டலம், s. The orb or disc of the sun. 2. The region of the sun. 3. One of the mystic circles on the body, regarded as a lotus flower, and assigned in worship, to three of the female energies of the deity, ஞானசத்தி, கிரியாசத்தி and இச்சாசத்தி, under the emblems of the sun, moon and fire. சூரியர், s. An adherent of the சூரி யன் religion; [ex வாதி.] சூரியவிம்பம்--சூரியபிம்பம், s. The disc or orb of the sun. 2. The reflected light of the sun, சூரியப்பிரதிவிம்பம். சூரியவீதி, s. The are of the horizon which comprehends the northern and southern declinations of the sun, being divided into three parts of four signs each, and taken in the following order: (1.) மேடவீதி, the Aries'-course, including Taurus, இடபம், Leo, சிங்கம், Gemini, மிது னம், and Cancer, கடகம். 2. இடபவீதி, the Taurus'-course, including Pisces, மீனம், Aries, மேடம், Virgo, கன்னி, Libra, துலாம். (3.) மிதுனவீதி, the Gemini course, including Sagittarius, தனுசு, Capricorn, மக ரம், Aquarius, கும்பம், Scorpio, விருச்சிகம். சூரியனுதித்தல், v. noun. The rising of the sun. சூரியாஸ்தமனம், s. maṇṭalam (p. 341) s. Circle, sphere, orbit, disc, வட்டம். 2. Disc of the sun or moon. 3. A great circle--as the equator or ecliptic, கிராந்திமண்டலம். 4. A region, world-as of the sun, moon, or clouds, as சத்த மண்டலம். 5. Any circular, or elliptical figure, வலயம். 6. Coil, as of a snake or rope, பாம்புச்சுற்று. W. p. 633. MAN'DALA. 7. The second of the four attitudes in archery. See நிலை. மண்டலமழை, s. Rain extending through the country. மண்டலம்போட--மண்டலமிட, inf. To form into circles or coils, as a snake. 2. To pass round one another--as combatants, or as birds, &c., in a circle, சுற்றிச்சுற்றிவர. 3. To make ornamental, astrological or mystic diagrams, commonly of a circular figure, யந்திரம்வகுக்க. மண்டலவிதி, s. Directions for making diagrams, for worship, &c. மண்டலபுருடன், s. [also called வீரமண் டலவன்.] A Jaina ascetic equally eminent as a poet and lexicographer. His poetic lexicon சூடாமணிநிகண்டு, outshines all similar productions in Tamil. He also wrote an epic poem in honor of Argha, ஓர்நிகண்டாசிரியன். மண்டலாகாரம், s. A circular figure, course, &c., வட்டவடிவம். மண்டலாபிஷேகம், s. A daily anointing of an idol for forty days, after the கும்பாபிஷேகம் or other ceremony. மண்டலார்த்தம், s. Semicircle, அர்த்த கோளம். 2. Semidiameter, பாதிவிட்டம். மண்டலீகர், s. [pl.] Kings, sovereigns of a limited reign, அரசர். (சது.) மண்டலேசன், s. An emperor, an independent monarch, உலகாதிபதி; [ex ஈசன்.] மண்டலேசுரன்--மண்டலேச்சுவரன், s. An independent sovereign. 2.
