A kind of round paddy, சொரிகுரும்பை நெல். குண்டுரோசனை--குண்டோசனை, s. An odoriferous root, growing in circular masses used as a drug, ஓர்மருந்துக்கிழங்கு. குண்டுச்சுழி, s. The crescent-like prefix, ெ, used in certain compound characters --as in கெ, கொ. குண்டூசி, s. A pin; lit. needle with a round head. குண்டெழுத்து, s. A full, round hand. குண்டெழுத்தாணி, s. A style with a knob at the top, as a weight to assist the writer. குண்டுக்கட்டு, v. noun. Binding one's neck and heels like a ball. குண்டுப்பிணையல், v. noun. kumiẕ (p. 123) s. Bubble, blubber, நீர்க்குமிழி. 2. A knob--as of wooden slippers; a stud, a pommel, any thing round or convex--as the head of a nail, the chapter of a column, &c., திரண்டவடிவம். 3. A kind of thorny tree. Gmelina tomentosa, from which torches are made for travellers, ஓர்மரம். In poetry, the nose is often compared to the red குமிழ் flowers. 4. A reed, நாணல். (M. Dic.) 5. tirḷu (p. 239) --திரள், கிறது, திரண்டது, ம், திரள, v. n. To become round, to conglobulate, உருண்டையாக. 2. To collect, to assemble, to congregate, கூட. 3. To accumulate, as குவிய. 4. To coalesce, to combine with, சேர. 5. To become dense, to grow thick, இறுக. 6. To form as a tumor, pustule, &c., to swell or bulge out, to protuberate, வீங்க. 7. maṇṭalam (p. 341) s. Circle, sphere, orbit, disc, வட்டம். 2. Disc of the sun or moon. 3. A great circle--as the equator or ecliptic, கிராந்திமண்டலம். 4. A region, world-as of the sun, moon, or clouds, as சத்த மண்டலம். 5. Any circular, or elliptical figure, வலயம். 6. Coil, as of a snake or rope, பாம்புச்சுற்று. W. p. 633. MAN'DALA. 7. To make ornamental, astrological or mystic diagrams, commonly of a circular figure, யந்திரம்வகுக்க. மண்டலவிதி, s. Directions for making diagrams, for worship, &c. மண்டலபுருடன், s. [also called வீரமண் டலவன்.] A Jaina ascetic equally eminent as a poet and lexicographer. His poetic lexicon சூடாமணிநிகண்டு, outshines all similar productions in Tamil. He also wrote an epic poem in honor of Argha, ஓர்நிகண்டாசிரியன். மண்டலாகாரம், s. A circular figure, course, &c., வட்டவடிவம். மண்டலாபிஷேகம், s. A round porringer or other vessel. வட்டக்கிலுகிலுப்பை, s. A species of the கிலுகிலுப்பை plant. See கிலுகிலுப்பை. வட்டக்கோல், s. Periphery or circumference of a circle; ellipse or other curvilinear figure. (R.) வட்டங்கொடுத்துமாற்ற--வட்டமிட்டு மாற்ற, inf. To exchange money by paying a premium. வட்டத்தாமரை, s. A tree growing in the Malayalam country, its leaf resembling that of the lotus. வட்டத்திரி, s. Match for a gun, நெரு ப்புவைக்குந்திரி. 2. A rolled bit of cloth put into the pierced lobe of the ear to widen the orifice, காதிடுதக்கை. வட்டத்திருப்பி, s. A plant, Cissampelos. compare பொன்முசுட்டை. வட்டத்துக்குக்கொடுக்க, inf. To lend money at a premium. வட்டப்பாறை, s. A round and flat stone, or rock; a rocky barren surface. வட்டப்பாறைநாச்சியார், s. A local Durga at Trivatûr, திருவொற்றியூர், dwelling in a cave covered with a வட்டப்பாறை. வட்டப்போதிகை, s. A circular piece of timber placed under the போதிகை. வட்டமணியம், s. [com. வட்டகைமணி யம்.] Superintendence over a small tract. வட்டமரம், s. A class of jungle fruittrees--It is of two varieties, பெருவட் டம், the common வட்டம் tree; சிறுவட்டம், the வட்டம் shrub with scarlet flowers in clusters, the juice of which is pressed and with நல்லெண்ணெய், is given to children for cutaneous eruptions, வட்டமாயோடல், v. noun. A circular motion or course. வட்டமிட, inf. [sometimes வட்டம் போட.] To pass round, to hover about as a hawk; to gyrate. 2. [fig.] To hang about in order to obtain an object. ஆகாசத்திற்பருந்துவட்டமிட்டுக்கொண்டேயிருக் கிறது. The kite in the air continues to sail round. வட்டம்பண்ண, inf.
