tṟi (p. 230) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், தறிக்க, v. a. To lop, chop off, to cut off with force, சேதிக்க. 2. To cut with a heavy blow, வெட்ட. 3. To cut down with heavy and repeated blows, வெட்டிச்சரிக்க. 4. To hew; to cut fire-wood, துண்டிக்க. 5. To clip, or chop off, கத்தரிக்க. 6. [prov.] To shake and separate by a fan, தானியம்புடைக்க. 7. (fig.) To frustrate a matter, காரியபங்கப்ப டுத்த.--Note. The meanings all imply cutting across the grain. தறியாணி, s. A small chisel for cutting iron. Compare வெட்டிரும்பு. தறிக்கை, தறிப்பு, v. noun. tuṟaṭṭi (p. 251) --துறடு, s. An iron crook, an elephant goad, அங்குசம். 2. An entanglement, சிக்கு. See துறோட்டி. துறட்டிலேமாட்டிக்கொண்டான். He entangled himself. துறட்டிச்செடி, s. A shrub with crooked thorns, ஓர்முட்செடி, Pisonia, L. துறட்டிப்பழம், s. Its fruit. துறட்டிரும்பு--துறட்டுமுள், s. A crooked iron or hook fastened in the integuments of the back of those who swing in the air at the செடில் festival. துறட்டுக்கோல், s. An iron crook fixed at the end of a pole to pluck fruits. துறட்டுப்பிடி--துறட்டுவாதம், s. Urgency, compulsive request, pressing one, &c., obstinacy in maintaining one's opinion, பிடிவாதம். 15)

tūkku (p. 252) கிறேன், தூக்கினேன், வேன், தூக்க, v. a. To lift, lift up, raise, take up, hold up, உயர்த்த. 2. To weigh, to balance, நிறுக்க. 3. To hang, as a criminal, to suspend any substance, தூக்கிலேபோட. 4. To hoist a flag, suspend hangings, jewels, &c., to hoist sail, ஏற்ற. 5. To lift one up, help one up, as from a pit, &c., எடுத்துவிட. (c.) 6. To weigh anchor, நங்கூரம்வலிக்க. 7. (fig.) To deliberate, consider, investigate, ஆராய்ச்சிசெய்ய. தூக்கிவினைசெய். Act after proper consideration. சீர்தூக்கிப்பார்த்தான். He considered well. தூக்கித்தூக்கியடிக்க, inf. To cause frequent nodding as sleepiness. 2. To shake as a child in fever. தூக்கிப்பார்க்க, inf. To weigh a thing in the hand or balance. 2. See சீர்தூக்க. தூக்கிப்பிடிக்க, inf. To take up a sick person. 2. To hunt out trivial faults. தூக்கிப்பிடியடாபிணக்காடாய்வெட்டுகிறேன்.... Sirrah, take me up, and I will make them a forest of corpses. தூக்கியெடுக்க--தூக்கிவிட, inf. To save from danger, ruin, &c., to help in emergency. தூக்கியெடுத்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To take up or welcome one with great regard, admiration. தூக்கிரும்பு, s. An iron crook, as துறட் டிரும்பு. (R.) தூக்குகோல்--தூக்குங்கோல், s. Steelyard, balance, scales. தூக்குமரம், s. veṭṭu (p. 399) கிறேன், வெட்டினேன், வேன், வெட்ட, v. a. To cut, with a sword or axe, to cut off, to fell by a blow. 2. To engrave, முத்திரைவெட்ட. 3. To dig, as a well, தோண்ட. 4. To injure, to mar--as insects, புழுவெட்ட. 5. To strike off, as in measuring grain. See தலைவெட்ட. (c.) அதைவெட்டிப்போடு. Cut it down. அவனைவெட்டிக்கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்.....They killed him by cutting [his throat]. வெட்டி, appel. n. [in comb.] That which cuts, as மண்வெட்டி, புழுவெட்டி. வாய்வெட்டி, s.
