The nectarine principle in the head or brain from which the silent, motionless devotee is supposed to obtain nutrition, support and enjoyment, when living without external food. அமுதபுட்பம், s. A creeping plant, சிறுகுறிஞ்சா, Periploca, L. அமுதப்பார்வை, s. A favorable or propitious look. as of a lady towards her admirer, குளிர்ந்தபார்வை. அமதமேந்தல், v. noun. Giving food to ascetics and other virtuous persons, guests, as one of the nine kinds of புண்ணியம், and of the sixteen உபசாரம். அமுதயோகம், s. [in astrology.] The auspicious conjunction of a certain day of the week, phase of the moon and lunar constellation. See யோகம். அமுதர், s. Celestials, வானோர். 2. Herdsmen, இடையர். (p.) அமுதவல்லி, s. A creeper, as சீந்தில். அமுதவெழுத்து, s. Letters deemed propitious and proper to begin a poem, or to be in other important places. ஆறு
āṟu (p. 43) s. and adj. Six (6.) six things, ஓரெண். 2. As a prefix to words beginning with consonants, the initial is often shortened, especially when the number is specific--as அறுசுவை, the six flavors. (c.) அவ்வாறு. Six by six, six to each, six of each. அறுகுணன், s. The deity--he who possesses the six attributes, கடவுள்; [ex குணம், quality.] (p.) அறுகோணம், s. A hexagon. 2. A magical diagram of two equilateral triangles, one laid over the other so that their sides may be parallel, making six outward and six inward angles. அறுசமயம், s. The six systems of religion maintained by Hindus. See சமயம். அறுதொழிலோர், s. Brahmans-from the six duties prescribed to them, வேதியர். See தொழில், office. அறுபகை, s. The six hurtful propensities--as காமம், &c. See பகை. அறுபருவம், s. The six seasons of the year--as கார், கூதிர், &c. See பருவம். அறுபொழுது, s. The six different portions of the day; 1. மாலை, the first four hours after sunset, or ten nalikies. 2. யாமம், four hours, or ten nalikies after மாலை. 3. வைகறை, four hours after யாமம் or before sunrise. 4. காலை or விடியல், four hours after sunrise or வைகறை. 5. நண்பகல், from eleven A. A monarch, உலோகாதிபன். உலகியல், s. The customs of the world, உலகநடை. உலகோம்பல், v. noun. Preserving the world--one of the six occupations of kings. See தொழில். உலகோற்பத்தி, s. The origin, or development of worlds. மேலுலகு, s. The upper worlds, which are seven in number, viz.: பூலோ கம், புவர்லோகம், சுவர்லோகம், மகாலோகம், சன லோகம், தபோலோகம், சத்தியலோகம். கீழுலகு, s. The lower worlds or regions; which are also seven, அதலம், விதலம், சுதலம், தராதலம், இரசாதலம், மகாதலம், பாதாளம். மூவுலகம், s. The three worlds, viz.: சொர்க்கம், மத்தியம், பாதாளம். மூவுலகாளி, s. uẕai (p. 67) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. [col. for உழத்து.] To earn, gain by labor, procure by industry, to acquire, வருந்தியீட்ட. 2. v. n. To labor hard, toil, strive, drudge, ply, வேலையிற்பிர யாசப்பட. 3. (p.) To sound--as talk, buzz, clamor, இரைய. 4. To suffer, endure hardships, to be afflicted, துன்பமுற. கல்வியிலேமிகவுமுழைக்கிறான். He is very diligent and successful in study. நானுழைத்தஉடைமையிலேதின்கிறேன். I live by my own earnings. உழைத்தபுண்ணியம், s. Acquired merit. உழைத்துக்கொடுக்க, inf. To labor for nothing, or in vain. வயிற்றுக்குழைக்க, inf. To labor for one's maintenance. 2. To procure support by labor. உழைப்பு, v. noun. Hand-labor, toil, industry, diligence, பிரயாசம். 2. Earnings, gain, profit of labor, toil, or industry, thriving, thriftiness, வருந்தி யீட்டுகை. 3. Endeavors, exertions, energy, close application, முயற்சி. உழைப்பின்வாராவுறுதிகளுளவோகழப்பின்வாராக் கையறவுளவோ? Is there any good to be obtained without exertion? Is there any evil that may not arise from indolence? அவருக்கிலக்கணத்திலேநல்லவுழைப்பு. His application and success in the study of belles-lettres are great. உழைப்பாளி, s. காடு
kāṭu (p. 103) s. An uncultivated tract of land covered with forest-trees, thick, impenetrable brush wood, creeping plants and coarse, rank, reedy vegetation, a waste, a thicket, வனம். 2. Deserts, forest tracts, ஆரணியம். 3. A desert place for burning the dead, சுடுகாடு. 4. fig. Excessiveness much, closeness, &c., மிகுதி. 5. Wild, rough, uncultivated, unpolished, &c., used as a prefix--as காட்டுப்பசு. 6. A nominal termination to some words of verbal derivation, தொழிற்பெயர்விகுதி--as சாக் காடு. (c.) 7. (p.) To be covered with jungle or wood. நிலங்காடாய்க்கிடக்கிறது. The ground is uncultivated. கடாய்ப்போக, inf. To become waste, to grow woody. காடாரம்பட்டு, s. A village situated in a wild tract of land near Vedarniam. காடாற்ற, inf. To perform the ceremony of quenching the fire where a corpse has been burnt, gathering the remains and taking them in a new pot to some water representing the Ganges, பாற்றெளிச்சடங்குசெய்ய. காடுகாட்ட, inf. To deceive, disappoint, lit. to show the place of burning the dead. காடுபடுதிரவியம், s. The productions of the desert, காட்டிலுண்டாகுந்திரவி யம். See under திரவியம். காடுபலியூட்ட, inf. To sacrifice to the sylvan nymphs before hunting, காட் டில்வாழுந்தேவர்களுக்குப்பலியிட. காடுவசாதி, s. [prov. prop. காடுவாழ் சாதி.] Savage tribe. காடுவசாதியாய்த்திரிய, inf. To be slovenly, sluttish, &c., to be careless, negligent of one's dress, &c., 2. To be vagrant, idle, &c., as a child for whom no one cares. காடுவாரி, s. [prov.] A rake, ஓர் கருவி. 2. One who scrapes up all he can, சேர்ப்பவன். 3. One who resorts to any kind of labor for support. காடுவாழ்த்து, s. A section of a war poem, extolling the jungle of the sylvan goddess, &c., where the battle occurred, வனதேவதையைவாழ்த்தும்பிரபந்தம். காடுவெட்டி, s. A wood-cutter, a savage, an untaught man. காட்டகத்தி, s. A shrub, வீழி, Cadaba Indica. காட்டத்தி, s. A species of the அத்தி tree, downy mountain ebony, Bauhinia tomentosa. (Mat. Ind.) காட்டழல், s. Jungle fire, kindled by the friction of trees, &c., காட்டுத்தீ. காட்டாள், s. A rustic, rural person, நாகரீகமில்லாதவன். காட்டான், s. The wild cow,காட் டுப்பசு. 2. [prov.] Stranger, பிறன். காட்டிலேபோக, inf. To be lost, to waste. காட்டுக்கடலை, s. A small tree or plant, ஓர்செடி. Rough melastoma, (Melastoma aspera) or Indian current bush. (Mat. Ind.) காட்டுக்கல், s. A rough hard kind of stone, ஓர்வைரமானகல். காட்டுக்கீரை, s. Different kinds of wild greens mixed together. காட்டுச்சீரகம், s. A wild cumin, purple fleabane, ஓர்பூண்டு, Vernonia anthelmintica. காட்டுச்சீரகவள்ளி, s. An esculent creeper--as காட்டுக்காய்வள்ளி. காட்டுச்சேவல், s. The jungle-cock, somewhat different from a woodcock. காட்டுத்தகரை, s. The wild தகரை plant. காட்டுத்தனம், s. Rusticity, uncultivated manners. காட்டுத்தாரா, s. A wild duck. See தாரா. காட்டுத்தாளி, s. A twining plant, Convolvulus muricatus. See தாளி. காட்டுத்தினை, s. Wild millet. காட்டுத்துத்தி, s. A kind of plant, Sida hirta. See துத்தி. காட்டுத்துவரை, s. A kind of துவ ரை plant, Glycine parviflora. காட்டுத்துளசி, s. A Wild species of துளசி; which see. காட்டுநாரத்்தை, s. A kind of நாரத் தை tree, பெருங்குருந்து. காட்டுநெல்லி, s. A kind of நெல்லி tree, Emblica officinalis. காட்டுப்பயிர், s. Vegetables that grow of themselves, தாமாகவிளையும்பயிர். காட்டுப்பருத்தி, s. Wild cotton of spontaneous growth. காட்டுப்பன்றி, s.
