கத்தன்
kttṉ (p. 92) s. An agent, a doer, a maker, an author, &c., செய்பவன். See கந்தன். The word is also written கருத்தன். Sans. கர்த்தா. அவனேவெட்டவும்விடவுங்கத்தன். He can either behead him or spare him; i. e. he has arbitrary power. கத்தராளி, s. [prov. vul.] A chief, a principal, an owner, a competent person, தலைவன். அவன்அதற்குக்கத்தராளியோ. Is he competent for that? கத்தவியம், s. See கர்த்தவியம். கத்தா, s. God, கடவுள். கத்தாக்கள், s. கற்பம்
kaṟpam (p. 102) s. The period of Brahma's life or one-hundred of his days and nights, பிரமனாயு. (சது.) 2. The periodical destruction of the world at the end of Brahma's day, also of his life, உலகமுடிவு. 3. [in pharmacy.] Medical powders to prolong life, secure immortal youth, சித்தர்கள்மருந்து. 4. Renovating influence on the system from the use of the powders, மூப்புவராமற்செ ய்யுமருந்து. (c.) 5. (p.) cattam (p. 159) s. Seven, seven-fold, ஏழு. W. p. 892. SAPTA. சத்தகன்னிகை--சத்தமாதர்கள், s. The seven famous goddess, or Saktis. See மாதர். (c.) சத்தகம், s. A funeral ceremony, giving seven kinds of things--as rice, clothes, money, &c., to seven brahmans, ஓர்மரண கன்மம். சத்தகுலாசலம், s. The seven distinguished mountains in India: மகேந்திரம், மலயம், சகியம், சத்திமான், இருட்சம், பாரிபாத்திரம், மாவிந்தம்; (காந்.) also seven mountains which are fancied to exit in each of the seven Dwipas. சத்தசாகரம்--சத்தசமுத்திரம், s. The seven circumambient seas. (See கடல்.) 2. Met. Abundance. சத்தசாகரமாய்ப்பெய்தது. It rained abundantly, (lit.) As it were the seven seas. சத்தசுரம், s. The seven musical tones or notes, represented by the letters ச, ரி, க, ம, ப, த,நி. See சுரம். சத்ததாது, s. The seven constituent parts of the body. See தாது. சத்ததாரணை, s. One of the தாரணை. The seven patalas or abysses, fabled to be the abodes of Titans, Nagas, and Rakshas.Note. These are different from the Puranic hells. See பாதாளம். சத்தபுரி, s. The seven sacred cities. The seven famous Rishis, viz; அங்கிரன், அத் திரி, கிரது, மரீசி, புலகன், புலத்தியன், வசிட்டன், 2. Ursa major or Great Bear, in the heavens, to which the seven Rishis are fabled to have been transferred. See முனிவர். சத்தலோகம், s. The seven metals. See உலோகம். சத்தவருக்கம், s. The seven stages of the soul, from ignorance and self-delusion, to the knowledge of the Brahm, and consequent felicity; viz. 1. அஞ்ஞானம். 2. ஆவரணம். 3. விட்சேபம். 4. பரோட்சம். 5. அபரோட்சம். 6. சோகநிவர்த்தி. 7. ஆனந்தம். tūtu (p. 253) s. Message, communication, errand, notice, tidings, செய்தி. 2. Embassage. embassy, commission, mission, தானாபதித்து வம். (Sa. Dûtya.) 3. (fig.) A negociator in love-intrigues, &c., messenger, ஒற்றன். 4. (fig.) Ambassador, envoy, தானாபதி. 5. A kind of poem representing a lady sending messages to her lover by her female companion, or by a bird, a beetle, &c., ஓர்பிரபந்தம்; [ex Sa. Du. to go.] (c.) தூதனுப்ப--தூதுவிட, inf. To send a message or messenger. தூதன், s. (fem. தூதி, தூதிகை, pl.தூதர், தூதர்கள்.) A messenger, a news-carrier, செய்தியறிவிப்போன். 2. An ambassador, nuncio, தானாபதி. 3. Agent, a spy, an emissary, ஒற்றன். 4. One who treats for another in love intrigues; சமாதானம் பேசுவோன். W. p. 418. DUTA. 5. The messenger who carries the news of a poisonous bite to the magician; by whose postures, gestures, words, &c., the fate of the bitten person is ascertained. 6. (Chirst, usage, with தேவ.) An angel. எமதூதன், s. A messenger of Yaman, the god of death, to carry away souls to his court. See எமன், இயமன். தூதனிலட்சணம், s. Posture, gestures. &c., of the messenger, with news of a snake bite. தூதன்சொல்லிலட்சணம், s. Words of the above messenger, of which the letters are counted to ascertain the patient's fate. தூதாள், s. (pl. தூதாட்கள்.) A messenger, a spy, as தூதன். தூதிற்பிரிவு, v. noun. (in love poetry.) Separation of husband from his wife to go on a message for the king. தூதுசொல்ல, inf. To deliver a message or errand. தூதுநடக்க--தூதுபோக, inf. To go on an errand, to act as a messenger. 25)

pātam (p. 310) s. Foot; the leg of a person, animal, article of furniture, &c., கால். 2. Line of a stanza, பாட்டினடி. 3. A quarter part, a fourth, காற்பங்கு. 4. Quadrant of a circle ninety degrees, வட்டத்தின்காற்பங்கு. W. p. 525. PADA. 5. Foot of a tree, மரத் தடி. 6. Base of mountain or hill, அடி வாரம். 7. The four states of bliss, சரியை, கிரியை, யோகம், ஞானம். பாதகடகம், s. An ornament for the foot of a female, பாடகம். W. p. 525. PADAKADAKA. பாதகமலம், s. Lotus-like-feet of deity, or great person. பாதகாணிக்கை--பாததட்சணை, s. A present to a great personage, laid at his feet. பாதகுறடு, s. Sandals. See குறடு. பாதகுறட்டின்குமிழ், s. A knob by which the sandals are kept on. பாதக்காப்பு, s. Slippers, clogs, Indian shoes, செருப்பு. பாதசரம், s. A kind of foot ornament, for females. (c.) பாதசன், s. A man of the fourth or Sudra tribe, as born from the feet of Brahma, நான்காம்வருணத்தான்; [ex. சன், one born.] பாதசாகை, s. A toe, கால்விரல். பாதசாபலியம், s. As பாததாடனம். பாதசாரம், s. Motion of the planets. See சாரம். பாதசாரி, s. A foot-man, a foot- soldier, காலாள். Compare பாட்டைசாரி. பாதசாலம், s. Foot ornaments in general, காலணிப்பொது. (சது.) பாதசுத்தி, s. Cleaning or purifying the feet. See கால்கழுவ. பாதசேவை, s. Service, duty or work, for a god, an idol, or a guru, (lit.) worshipping at the feet, அடித்தொண்டு. தேவரீருடையபாதசேவை கிடைக்கவில்லை. . . I have not lately had the privilege of worshipping at your feet. பாதச்சாயை, s. The shadow under the foot, அடிநிழல். 2. See சாயை. பாததட்சணை, s. See பாதகாணிக்கை. பாததரிசனம், s. Interview with a great person, (lit.) sight of the feet, பததெரிச னம். பாததாடனம்--பாதப்பிரகாரம், s. (St.) Kicking with the foot, உதை. பாததாமரை--பாதாரவிந்தம், s. As பாத கமலம். பாததீட்சை, s. A high kind of தீட்சை, or species of illumination. See திருவடி தீட்சை. பாததீர்த்தம்--பாதோதகம், s. Water in which the feet of an idol or guru have been washed. See உதகம். பாததூளி, s. Dust of the feet, commonly of a great person. பாதத்திலேவிழ, inf. As பாதம்பணிய. பாதபங்கயம்--பாதபதுமம்--பாதபத் மம்--பாதபற்மம், s. Lotus-feet of a holy, or great personage. பாதபரிசம், s. Touching a superior's foot, திருவடிதீண்டுகை. 2. A kind of arsenic, சீதாங்கபாஷாணம். பாதபீடம்--பாதபீடிகை, s. footstool, as பாதாசனம். பாதபூசை, s. Worshipping with flowers, the feet of a Guru or other sacred person, as one of the rites of hospitality. பாதப்பிரகாரம், s. As பாததாடனம். பாதப்பிரட்சாளனம், s. Washing the feet, கால்கழுவுகை. See பிரட்சாளனம். பாதமயக்கு, s. verse capable of transposition; as அடிமயக்கு. (p.) பாதமுத்தி, s. Kissing the feet of a great person. 2. As சாயுச்சியம். பாதமுத்திரை, s. Sandals, &c., in which there is the print of a Guru's or other sacred person's foot; left with a disciple, in token of protection; and to be worshipped. பாதமூலம், s. The ball of the foot, குதிக்கால். W. p. 525. PADAMOOLA. பாதம்பணிய, inf. To prostrate at one's feet. பாதம்பாலிக்க, inf. To set the foot on the head of a prostrate worshipper, and bless him. பாதரட்சணம்--பாதரட்சை--பாதரக்ஷை, s. Shoes, slippers, clogs, or sandals, (lit.) defence, or safe guard for the feet,தொடு தோல். பாதவந்தனம், s. Homage, reverence, worship, at the feet of a great person. பாதாக்கிரம், s. The tip of the foot, end of the great toe, கானுனி; [ex அக்கிரம், point.] பாதாக்கிராந்தன், s. [pl. பாதாக்கிராந் தர்கள்.] A worshipper at the feet; an expectant, அடிவணங்குவோன். பாதாங்குட்டம், s. The great toe, காற் பெருவிரல்; [ex அங்குஷ்டம்.] பாதாசனம், s. Footstool, பாதபீடிகை. 2. Sandals, பாதகுறடு. பாதாதிகேசம். From foot to head. 2. s. A poem as கேசாதிபாதம். See கேசம். பாதாம்புயம்--பாதாரவிந்தம், s. Lotus feet as பாதபங்கயம். பாதார்த்தம், s. An eighth part, எட்டி லொன்று; [ex. அர்த்தம், half.] An offering to a deity or sacred person, as பாதகாணிக்கை. 18) *

pittam (p. 315) Bile, gall, bilious humor, முப்பிணியிலொன்று W. p. 356. PITTA. 2. Aberration of the senses, bewilderment, delirium, மயக்கம். 3. A variety of dance, கூத்தின்விகற்பம்.-- Of bile are அருசிப்பித்தம், aversion to food, &c.; இரத்தபித்தம், that which causes the spitting of blood; வறட் சிப்பித்தம், dryness of humors; கரும்பித்தம், black bile. பித்தஉபரி, s. As பித்தாதிகாரம்; used in the south. பித்தகாங்கை--பித்தகாரகம்--பித்தச்சூடு, s. Heat caused by bile. பித்தகாசம், s. A kind of bilious disease, causing great irritation. See காசம். பித்தகாமாலை, s. Jaundice from excess of bile. பித்தகாலம், s. The middle stage of life, when the bilious humor is supposed to be predominant from the age of 33 1/3 to 66 2/3. 2. The second and third of the twelve hours, both by day and night. பித்தகுணம், s. Delirium, slight derangement. பித்தகுன்மம், s. Dispepsia, disease in the stomach from excess of bile. See குன்மம். பித்தக்காய்ச்சல், s. As பித்தசுரம். பித்தக்கிராணி--பித்தகிராணி, s. A looseness of the bowels. See under கிரணி. பித்தக்கிறுகிறுப்பு--பித்தகிறுகிறுப்பு. v. noun. Giddiness in the head, from bilious affections. பித்தக்கொதி, s. [prov.] Feverish state of the system from derangement of the bilious humor. பித்தசரீரம், s. An emaciated body from excess of bile, a bilious temperament. See சரீரம். பித்தசிலேட்டுமம்--பித்தசிலேற்பனம், s. A temperament of body in which bilious and phlegmatic humors prevail. பித்தசுரம், s. Bilious fever. பித்தசூலை, s. Arthritic diseases from bilious humors. See சூலை. பித்தசோகை, s. A bilious heat, Leucophlegmatis, a kind of jaundice. பித்தச்சுழற்சி, s. As பித்தக்கிறுகிறுப்பு. பித்தச்சூடு, s. As பித்தகாங்கை. பித்ததிகாரம்--பித்தாதிகாரம்-பித்தாதிக் கம், s. Preponderance of bile in the system, பித்தஅதிகரிப்பு. பித்தத்தின்வீடு, s. The stomach. (R.) பித்தநாடி, s. The bilious pulse, as felt by the middle finger. See நாடி. பித்தநீர், s. Bilious humor. பித்தபாண்டு--பித்தபாண்டுரு, s. A sallow kind of jaundice, inducing great languor. பித்தமயக்கம், s. Delirium. 2. Giddiness, dizziness. பித்தமிறக்க, inf. [intrans. பித்தமிறங்க.] To reduce bile in the system. See இறக்கு. பித்தமெடுக்க, inf. To cast up bile. பித்தம்பிடித்தவன், appel. n. A deranged person, as பித்தன். பித்தரோகம், s. Bilious disease. பித்தவாயு, s. Wind in the body from heat. பித்தவெடிப்பு, v. noun. A chapping of the hands and feet. பித்தவெறி, s. Intoxication, phrensy. பித்தன், s. [fem. பித்தி, pl. பித்தர், பித்தர்கள்.] a crazy man, a mad man, an idiot. See திரவியம். 2. Siva, as eating intoxicating drugs and dancing with devils, சிவன். 3. Bhairava, வயிரவன். 4. A thief, rogue, robber, கள்ளன். (சது.) பித்தனுக்குத்தன்குணநூலிலுஞ்செம்மை. Even to the mad man, his own wisdom is straighter than a line. பித்தாதிசாரம், s. Vomiting and purging; [ex அதிகாரம்.] 49) *

mātar (p. 349) s. Women, பெண்கள். 2. Matrons, தலைவியர். [sing. மாது.] (நீதி.) 3. Beauty, அழகு. 4. Desire, lust, ஆசை. (p.) மாதர்கள், 7. The seven saktis, or mothers. They are: பிராமி, Brahmi, consort of Brahma; 2. மயேச்சுவரி, Mahasvari, consort of Siva; 3. கௌமாரி, Kaumari, consort of Kumara; 4. நாரா யணி,Narayani, consort of Narayan, or Vishnu; 5. வராகி,Varahi, consort of Vishnu, as வராகன்; 6. இந்திராணி, Indrani, the consort of Indra; 7. காளி, Kali, the consort of Virabhadra. Some authorities make them eight by including Aparajita wife of Kuvera. W. p. 655. MATRU. Their respective conveyances in order are: 1. அன்னம், a swan; 2. இடபம், a bull; 3. மயில், a peacock; 4. கருடன், Garuda, or a kite; 5. சீயம், a lion; 6. யானை, an elephant; 7. பேய், a devil.--Their weapons, மறை or வேதம், the law; 2. பினாகம், a bow; 3. வேல், a lance, or spear; 4. ஆழி, the chakra, a circular missile; 5. கலப்பை, a plough; 6. வச்சிரம், a thunderbolt; 7. சூலம், a trident. vrākm (p. 376) s. A swine, a hog, a boar, பன்றி. 2. A purana. See புராணம். W. p. 736. VARAHA. 3. An incarnation of Vishnu. See திருமாலவதாரம். வராகன், s. A gold-coin with the figure of a boar; com.a Pagoda, worth three and a half rupees, பொற்காசு. 2. (சது.) Vishnu from his incarnation of a boar, விஷ்ணு. வராகி, s. The sakti of Vishnu.
