Ten astringents are given, as used in medicine. 1. நாவல், bark of the நாவல்; 2. கடுக்காய், fruit of the கடு, Indian gall-nut; 3. நெல்லி, fruit of the நெல்லி; 4. தான்றிக்காய், fruit of the தான் றி; 5. ஆல், buds of the banyan; 6. அரசு, buds of the அரசு; 7. அத்தி, bark of the அத்தி; 8. இத்தி, bark of the இத்தி; 9. முத் தக்காசு, root of the கோரை; 1. மாந்தளிர். tender leaves of the mango tree.
