uriñu (p. 64) --உரிஞ்சு, கிறேன், உரிஞி னேன்--உரிஞ்சினேன், வேன், உரிஞ--உரிஞ்ச, v. n. and a. To rub one's self, rub as beasts, chafe, உராய. 2. To become rubbed or grazed against a thing, to be bruised, excoriated, grazed off, &c., தேய. 3. To rub against one another--as trees, உரோச. 4. To rub away, wear away by rubbing, grind away --as sandal, to triturate, அரைக்க. (p.) நறுங்குறடுரிஞ்சுபூந்தேய்வை. The soft paste produced by triturating the fragrant sandal wood. urai (p. 65) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. [vul. உரைஞ்சு.] To be rubbed into a powder or paste, to wear away by attrition, to be indented, or effaced by rubbing, தேய. காரியமெல்லாமுரைந்துபோயிற்று. The whole affair has proved abortive, it has come to nothing. உரை, v. noun. Rubbing, friction, attrition, தேய்வு. 2. Touch of gold, or silver on the stone, assay, மாற்றறியுமுரை. 3. Gold for touching, பொன். உரைநயம், s. Superiority of gold or silver shown by the touch. உரையறிகருவி, s. A touch-stone, உரையாணி. 2. A touch-needle, மாற்றறிவிக் குமாணி. உரையாணி, s. tēy (p. 258) கிறது, ந்தது, தேயும், தேய, v. n. To wear away, wear off, be rubbed away, wear out, or be frayed away, உரைய. 2. To lesson or decrease, waste away; to become exhausted, குறைய. 3. To wane as the moon, கலைகுறைய. 4. To lessen or be reduced as sin, or as the stock of accumulated actions, good or evil, &c., கன் மந்தேய. 5. To be emaciated, stunted--as a child; to be reduced,--as wealth, property, splender, &c., இளைக்க. 6. To lapse, pass, wear away--as time, கழிய. 7. To be effaced, erased, obliterated by rubbing. மாய. (c.) தேய்ஞ்சான்மாஞ்சானாய்ப்போயிற்று. It is reduced by little and little. தேய்ந்தகணக்காய்ப்போயிற்று. It has come to very little. நடந்துநடந்துகால்தேய்ந்தது. The feet are worn by walking so much. தேயப்பண்ண, inf. To wear away, cause to decrease. தேய்கடை, adj. Worn out, worn away, as an implement, &c., தேய்வான. 2. Stunted in growth, வளர்ச்சியழிவான. தேய்க்கடைப்பணம், s. [also தேய்க்க டைப்பணம்.] A fanam worn by use. தேய்கடைப்பிள்ளை, s. A stunted child. தேய்ந்தபல், s. Worn teeth. தேய்பிறை, s. The waning moon. (c.) தேய்வு, v. noun. A wearing away, a lessening, abrasion, diminution, குறைவு. 2. Emaciation, மெலிவு. 3. Erasure, obliteration by rubbing, அழிவு.

tēymāṉm (p. 259) s. Waste produced by rubbing, தேய்வு. 2. The touch of gold, on the stone, or the quantity lost by rubbing, பொன்னுரைதேய்மானம். 3. Frugality, parsimony, சிக்கனம், (c.) தேய்மானக்காரன், s. A mean penurious person, fond of living at the cost of others, கையிறுக்கக்காரன். 3)

tēyvāngku (p. 259) s. (com. தேவாங்கு.) The sloth, a slow moving animal. தேவாங்குப்பிள்ளைபிறந்தது. An ill-shaped child is born. தின்கிறதைத்தின்றுந்தேவாங்குபோலிருக்கிறான்.... Though he eats, he is like (a lean) sloth. தேவாங்குக்கண், s. Staring eyes similar to those of the sloth. தேவாங்குப்பித்து, s. The bile of the sloth, used in witchcraft. தேவாங்குமை, s.
