etukai (p. 73) s. Initial rhyme, commonly occurring in the second letter of every line in the stanza. (See தொடை.) 2. [vul.] (fig.) Agreement, union, consonance, similarity, பொருத்தம். (p.) தலையாகெதுகை, s. Consonance of an inferior order including every kind except the two given above. ஆசெதுகை, s. An exception to the general rule of எதுகை; i. e. when the second letter of the first line is ய, ர, ல, or ழ, it may be omitted in the following lines when necessary. வழியெதுகை, s. The agreement of the second and third letters in the first, second, and sometimes the third feet in every line through the stanza. நெடிலெதுகை, s. The rhyming of the long consonants in a poem--as ஆவாவென்றேயஞ்சினராழ்ந்தாரொருசாரார், கூகூ வென்றேகூவிளிகொண்டாரொருசாரார், மாமாவென் றேமாய்ந்தனர்நீந்தாரொருசாரார், ஏகீர்நாகீரென்செய் துமென்றாரொருசாரார். இனவெதுகை, s. The rhyming of the same class of consonants in a poem. It consists of three kinds: 1. வல்லின வெதுகை, the consonance which occurs when the second letter of each line of a stanza is any one of the வல்லினம் consonants, உ-ம். தக்கார்தகவிலரென்பதவரவ ரெச்சத்தாற்காணப்படும். 2. மெல்லினவெதுகை, the consonance which occurs when the second letter of each line of a stanza is any one of the மெல்லினம் consonants, உ-ம். அன்பீனுமார்வமுடைமையதுவீனுநண்பென் னுநாடாச்சிறப்பு. 3. இடையினவெதுகை, the consonance which occurs when the second letter of each line of a stanza is any one of the இடையினம் consonants, உ-ம். எல்லா விளக்கும் விளக்கல்ல சான்றோர்க்குப் பொய்யாவிளக்கேவிளக்கு. 51) *

oṇmai (p. 81) s. Good, goodness, excellence, நன்மை. 2. Brilliancy, splendor, brightness, ஒளி. 3. Beauty, அழகு. 4. Prudence, discretion, wisdom, அறிவு. 5. Flourishing, being luxuriant, rich, full, abundant, plump, மிகுதி. (பாரதி.) 6. Order, regularity, ஒழுங்கு; [ex ஒள்.] (p.) அரிதெனினுமொண்மையிற்றீர்ந்தொழுகலார். Those who swerve not from the path of virtue, although that path is difficult. (நீதிநெறி.) ஒண்கண், s. Dazzling eyes. ஒண்டொடி, s. She who is adorned with shining bracelets. See தொடி. ஒண்பொருள், s. Wealth gotten by equitable means. (வள்ளுவர்.)

oẕuku (p. 84) கிறது, ஒழுகினது, ம், ஒழுக, v. n. To flow, நீர்முதலியவோட. 2. To go, pass, walk, செல்ல. 3. To act, behave, maintain a course of conduct, act according to rule, to behave well, நெறிப்படிநடக்க. 4. To be long, நீள. (p.) 5. To leak, drop as water, fall by drops, trickle down, drip, drop through, to be shed, தொளைவழி யாயொழுக. ஒழுகுபொற்கொடிமூக்கு. The nose of the damsel who resembles a beautiful long creeper. (நைட.) ஒழுகொளிவிரிக்குங்கதிர்மணி. The radiant gem which diffuses flowing light. கூற்றமேயில்லத்திருந்தொழுகாப்பெண். But an unfaithful wife is to the household as death. பன்மார்புசேர்ந்தொழுகுவார். Those who habituate themselves to the embraces of many-- (நாலடி.) அதிரசமொழுகுங்கனிகள். Fruits flowing with much honey. குடமொழுகுகிறது. The vessel leaks. ஒழுகிசை, s. A flowing kind of melody in poetry in which nothing discordant occurs, பாவினோசையுளொன்று. ஒழுகிசைச்செப்பல், s. A poem consisting of வெண்சீர்வெண்டளை and இய ற்சீர்வெண்டளை. ஒழுகிசையகவல், s. A kind of அகவல் verse composed of நேரொன்றாசிரிய த்தளை and நிரையொன்றாசிரியத்தளை. ஒழுகுவண்ணம், s. A cadence which flows in an easy and pleasing style, ஓர்சந்தம். ஒழுகல், v. noun. Flowing. 2. Leaking, dropping, a leak. 3. Behavior. 4. Length. 5. Height. ஒழுகலான், appel. n. He who does not conduct himself virtuously (நீதிநெறி.) வாய்நீரொழுகல், v. noun. Drivelling. ஒழுக்கு, v. noun. Leaking, dropping, dripping, ஒழுகுகை. 2. Flowing, flow, நீர்முதலியவோடுகை. 3. The passing of urine in drops. ஒழுக்குக்குவைத்தசட்டிபோல். Like a vessel set to catch the water from a leak-spoken of one supported at the expense and pleasure of another. ஒழுக்குமாற்ற, inf. [prov.] To stop leak. ஒழுக்குவிழ, inf. To drop as water from a leak, to leak. ஒழுக்கெறும்பு, s. A species of large black ants which follow one another in a train. 8)

maṉacu (p. 346) --மனது, s. Mind, heart, will, உள்ளம். W. p. 635. MANAS. 2. Purpose, intention, feeling, எண்ணம். 3. Desire, inclination of the mind, விருப்பம். மனசறிந்தவன், appel. n. One who is fully conscious. மனசறிய, inf. [adverbially.] Knowingly or wilfully, as மனசார, நெஞ்சறிய. மனசறியச்செய்தான். He has wilfully done it. மனசாயிருக்க, inf. To be willing; to purpose. மனசார--மனதார, inf. [adverbially.] Spontaneously, cordially. மனசாரநானொன்றும்அறியேன். To the best of my recollection, I know nothing of it. மனசிரங்க--மனதிரங்க, inf. To pity, to commiserate. மனசிரங்கிக்கொடுத்தான். He gave it out of pity. மனசிலேகிடக்கட்டும். Keep your own mind. மனசிலேவைத்துக்கொள். Keep this in mind. மனசில்லாமை--மனதில்லாமை, v. noun. (neg.) Unwillingness, reluctancy. மனசிளகப்பண்ண, inf. To soften the mind. 2. To move the affections. மனசினாலேகாண, inf. To meditate, to consider. மனசுஅதின்மேலோடுகிறது. The mind is bent upon it. மனசுக்குச்சரிபோனபடிசெய்கிறான். He acts according to his own mind. மனசுக்கேற்கநடக்க, inf. To walk or act according to one's mind or will. மனசுநோக--மனசுநோவ, inf. To be grieved in mind. மனசொருவிதமாயிருக்கிறது. My mind is wavering. மனசோடே. Wilfully. மனதின்தீக்குணம், s. [also மனத்தீக்கு ணம்.] The evil dispositions of the mind. See தீக்குணம். மனதின்நற்குணம், s. The good dispositions of mind: 1. அருள்நினைவு, kind thoughts; 2. ஆசையறுத்தல், mortification of corrupt desires; 3. தவப்பற்று, persevering penance. See நற்குணம். மனதைக்கருக்க, inf. To wound the feelings. See கருக்கு, v. மனதொழுக்கம்--மனத்தொழுக்கம், s. Right way of thinking. அதின்மேலெனக்குமனதில்லை. It does not suit me. மனஸ்தாபம்--மனத்தாபம், s. Grief, heart-burning. 2. Displeasure, வெறுப்பு. 3. [Chris. usage.] Repentance. உத்தமமனஸ்தாபம். True repentance. அவர்என்மேல்மனஸ்தாபமாயிருக்கிறார். He is displeased with me. 91) *

māṭṭu (p. 349) கிறேன், மாட்டினேன், வேன், மா ட்ட, v. a. To button, to tackle, பூட்ட. 2. To beat violently, அடிக்க. 3. To put in, as wood into the fire, நுழைக்க. 4. To hook in, to shut, கொக்கிமாட்ட. 4. v. n. [with கொள்ள.] To get entangled. (c.) அவனைநன்றாய்மாட்டினான். He gave him good blows. பறவைகண்ணியில்மாட்டிக்கொண்டது. The bird was entangled in a net. கடிவாளமாட்ட, inf. To bridle. மாட்டிக்கொடுக்க--மாட்டிவிட--மாட் டிவைக்க. inf. To put into the stocks, தொழுவிலேமாட்ட. மாட்டல்--மாட்டுதல், v. noun. Buttoning, fastening, hooking, inserting, beating. மாட்டு, v. noun. A beat, a stroke, as நல்லமாட்டு, good blows. 2. Referring. மாட்டெறிதல், v. noun. A rule of criticism, viz., comparison with other parts of the book. (நன்னூற்பாயிரம்.) 2. [a law term.] Inventory, on the outside of a deed, of the property mentioned, and of its disposal, புறத்திற்குறிப்பு. மாட்டெறிந்தொழுகல். A rule of criticism--one of the thirty-two உத்தி. மாட்டேற்று. vṇkkm (p. 375) s. Adoration, reverence, submission, respect, worship, தொழுகை; [ex வணங்கு.] அவனுக்குவணக்கமொன்றுமில்லை. He shows no respect. 2. He receives no reverence. வணக்கமுள்ளவன், appel. n. A respectful, devout man. வணக்கமொடுக்கம், s. Good manners, as ஒடுக்கவணக்கம். 43)
