nakkīrar (p. 266) --நக்கீரன், s. [sometimes நற் கீரன்.] Narkiren, a poet at the head of the Madura College in the ninth century A. D. He appears to have belonged to the class of chank-cutters. He was the author of an epic poem, சிரீகருணிப்புராணம், and of a hymn, திருமுருகாற்றுப்படை, in honor of Skanda; [ex ந, excellent, et கீர், word.] 27)
