tūngku (p. 252) கிறேன், தூங்கினேன், வேன், தூங்க, v. n. To hang, to hang on, to be suspended, cling to, தொங்க. 2. To be drowsy, to slumber, to sleep, துயில. 3. To be sluggish, inactive, idle, dull, slow, heavy, மந்தமாயிருக்க. 4. To nod, hang the head from drowsiness, தலைசாய. 5. To droop, as a person, or animal, through sorrow, hunger, &c., சோர. 6. To droop, as a plant, be withered, வாட. 7. (fig.) To be fixed, as a fortress, wall, ஓர்நிலை யாய்நிற்க. 8. To tarry, delay, loiter, hang about, தாமதிக்க. 9. To be drowsy and move the body from side to side, as an elephant, அசைவாட, (c.) தூங்கினவன்கன்றுசேங்கன்று. The calf, of the sleeper is but a bull-calf (having been changed while he slept). தூங்கணி, s. A jewel formed of hanging globules of gold and precious stones, தொங்கணி. தூங்கிப்போக, inf. To droop as a person, beast, plant, &;amc., வியாபாரந்தூங்கிப்போயிற்று. Trade is low, on the decline, &c. தாழ்வாரந்தூங்கிப்போயிற்று. The verandah is too low. தூங்காமை, v. noun. (neg.) Vigilance, Watchfulness. தூங்காவிளக்கு, s. A lamp burning day and night. தூங்கிசைச்செப்பல், s. A kind of melody of the metre called வெண்பா. தூங்கிசைத்துள்ளல், s. A melody of the கலிப்பா metre. தூங்கிசையகவல், s. A melody of the ஆசிரியப்பா, metre. தூங்கிருள்நடுநாள், s. Midnight, thick or abiding darkness. தூங்கிவிழ, inf. To nod through drowsiness. (c.) தூங்குபாலம், s. The mid-sea. நடுக்கடல்போனாலும்மறுப்படாமல்வரக்கடவீர்..... Even though you go into the midst of the sea, may you return without harm. நடுக்கட்ட, inf. A family of midding circumstances, rank, &c. 3. [prov.] The head-family of a tribe or class. நடுக்கேட்க, inf. To hear a case in law. 2. To refer a case for decision. நடுக்கொண்டவீடு, s. The words are ஆம், ஊம், ஓம், சிவாயநம, in which ஆம், is அடி, basis; ஊம், is நடு, middle; ஓம், is முடி, top; சி, is சிவம், formless deity; வா, is சத்தி, the female principle, obscuration. நடுநிலைமை, s. Mediocrity, middle circumstances in life. நடுநிற்றல், v. noun. Becoming bail or security for one. (not the law term.) 2. Being upright, impartial. நடுநீதி, s. The middle or interior of the house where the idol is kept. 2. An obscene expression, used in the south. நடுவீடுபெருவழியாயிற்று.
