tampaṉam (p. 224) --ஸ்தம்பனம், s. (sometimes தம்பம்.) Stopping, restraining, hindering the power of fire; stopping a flow of water or blood; checking the ferocity of wild beasts; causing a person or spirit to stand immovably in a place; suppressing bodily faculties; depriving one of the power of speech, action, motion; suspending natural qualities, அசைவறநிறுத்துகை.-There are different kinds, as அக்கினித்தம்ப னம், கட்கத்தம்பனம், சலத்தம்பனம், சுக்கிலத்தம்ப னம், திஷ்டித்தம்பனம், பூதத்தம்பனம், வாயுத்தம்பனம், which see in their places, as given with ஸ்தம்பம் termination and in கலைஞானம். தம்பனகாரன்--தம்பனவித்தைக்காரன், s. A magician, a conjurer who exercises magic powers to stop or restrain as above. தம்பனக்குளிகை, s. A magical pill. See குளிகை. தம்பனவித்தை. That art of restraining by magic. கன்னத்தம்பனம், s. Stopping the discovery of hidden things. 5)

tāpaṉam (p. 233) --ஸ்தாபனம், s. Establishing, founding, நிறுத்துகை. 2. Settlement, establishment, institution, நிலை. 3. Fixing or concentrating the thoughts upon the objects of meditation, நினைவைநிலைபெறுத்துகை. --There are as அட்சரஸ்தாபனம், கும்பஸ்தாபனம், தெய்வஸ்தாபனம், பாஷாணஸ்தாபனம், மந்திரஸ்தாப னம், யந்திரஸ்தாபனம், which see in their places. தாபனமுத்திரை, s. Libations of water, and sacrificial grass, to an image, &c., as அருக்கியம். தாபனம்பண்ண, inf. To fix, to place. 46) *

niṟu (p. 277) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To weigh, balance any thing, தூக்க. (c.) நிறுத்தமுறையானே. In order, according to rule. (p.) நிறுத்தாற்போல. As scrupulous, punctual, exact, just, as if weighed in a balance. நிறுக்குந்தராசு, s. A weighing balance. நிறுத்துக்கட்ட, inf. To make an estimate, to fathom a person's learning or abilities, அளவிட. நிறுத்துப்பார்க்க, inf. To weigh, prove or examine the weight. 2. To consider, deliberate, ponder. 3. to compare. நிறுத்துரைத்துப்பார்க்க, inf. To examine by touching and weighing gold, &c. 2. To examine minutely, throughly, &c. 186)

Setting up, fixing, establishing, நிறுத்துகை. 12. Measure, standard, degree, வரையறை. 13. Fortitude, magnanimity, தைரியம். 14. Moral firmness, staunchness of mind, morality; continence, selfgovernment, மனவுறுதி. 15. Equity, just principles, integrity, uprightness, நீதி. 16. Chastity in a woman, fidelity to a husband, கற்பு. நிறைகட்ட, inf. To make up a weight equal to a given thing, தடைகட்ட. 2. To give commodities equal to value to other commodities, both being weighed, ஈடுகட்ட. நிறைகோல், s. A balance, தராசுக்கோல். நிறையழிய, inf. To lose command of one's self from passion, to sacrifice principle, நன்னெறியழிய. 2. To lose as chastity, &c., கற்பழிய. 3. [also நிலையழிய.] To become disprited, disheartened, hopeless, மனவலியழிய. (சது.) 4. To become furious as an elephant in rut, யானைமூர்க்கங்கொள்ள. (p.) நிறையறிகருவி, s. A balance, scales, தராசு. நிறையுரை, s. Touch or assay of precious metals, நிறுத்தல்உரைத்தல். (c.) நிறையுள்ளவன், appel. n. A man of integrity, honesty, equity, நிதானி. 195)

mṟi (p. 346) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To stop, detain, arrest, check, confine, imprison, தடுக்க. 2. To turn about, திருப்ப. (c.) 3. To turn upside down, to upset, மேல்கீழாக்க. மந்தையைமறித்துவை. Prevent the herd from going astray. கடன்காரன் அவனை மறித்துக்கொண்டான். The creditor arrested him [on the way]. மறி--மறிப்பு, v. noun. Stopping, arresting, as மறியல். மறிபட--மறிபட்டுப்போக, inf. To be stopped, as the waters of a river. 2. To be hindered, as one on business. மறியல், v. noun.
