vēmpu (p. 402) --வேப்பமரம், s. [adjectively, வேப்பு.] The Margosa or Neem tree, Azadirachta Indica. There are two varieties, கருவேம்பு and மலைவேம்பு. Which see; சிவனார் வேம்பு and நிலவேம்பு are two different medicinal plants. வேம்புவிரும்பக்கரும்பாகும். If it wished, the bitter Margosa might become sugar-cane; i. e. 'where's a will there's a way.' அவனுக்குவீடுவேம்பாய்ப்போயிற்று. His house [wife], has become bitter, used by a married woman. வேப்பங்கள், s. Sour juice that oozes from some Margosa trees, taken medicinally for venerial eruptions, &c. வேப்பங்காய், s. Its unripe fruit or drupe. வேப்பமுத்து, s. The seeds of the வேம்பு. வேப்பம்பட்டை, s. The bark of the வேம்பு, used as a tonic and febrifuge. வேப்பம்பலகை, s. Boards from the tree. வேப்பிலை, s.
