pāvam (p. 313) s. [St. பாபம்.] Sin, vice, evil, crime, தீமை. 2. Demerit, accumulated results of evil actions attaching to the soul, தீவினை. 3. Misfortune, as the result of former actions, but often spoken in burlesque, அதிஷ்டவீனம். (c.) பாவகாரி, s. (St.) A sinner, பாவி. பாவங்கட்டுப்படுதல், v. noun. The accumulation of sin. பாவசங்கீர்த்தனம்-பாவசங்கீர்த்தனை, s. [R. Cath. use.] Confession of sin. பாவசென்மம், s. As பாவயோனி. பாவசேடம், s. Remains of sin attaching to holy persons, பாவத்தின்மீதி. 2. Remaining demerit of souls at the close of a term of existence, to be expiated afterwards, ஊழின்மீதி. பாவச்சடம்--பாவசரீரம், s. Bodies assumed as the effect of former actions. பாவச்சுமை, s. The burden of sin; accumulated evil to be expiated by suffering. பாவஞ்சுமக்க, inf. To contract sin. See சும, v. பாவஞ்செய்ய, inf. To sin, to do evil. பாவஞ்செய்தகுடி. A distressed family --(lit.) who suffer the consequences of former sins. பாவட்சயம்--பாவக்ஷயம், s. Destruction of the accumulated demerit of sin attaching to the soul; [ex க்ஷயம்.] பாவநாசம், s. Removal or expiation of sin. 2. As பாவவிநாசம். பாவந்தவிர்க்க, inf. [also பாவத்தைத்த விர்க்க.] To abstain from vice. பாவந்தீர்க்க, inf. To remove, sin, to expiate evil attached to the soul. பாவந்தீர்தல், v. noun. Expiating the evil attached to souls, commonly by suffering. பாவநிவாரணம்--பாவநிவிர்த்தி, s. As பாவநாசம். பாவம்பலிக்க, inf. To end in suffering --as sin. பாவபுண்ணியம், s. Vice and virtue. பாவபுண்ணியவழக்கம், 3, s. Three adjuncts of sin: 1. Doing, செய்தல். 2. Inciting, செய்வித்தல். 3. Consenting, உட ன்படல். பாவமன்னிப்பு, v. noun. [Chris. usage.] Pardon of sin. பாவமூர்த்திகள், s. The vile, the base; they whose very shape is the effect of sin, பாவத்திலுற்பவித்தோர். 2. The hunters, they who live by the chase, வேடர். பாவம்பழி, s. Sin and guilt. பாவயோனி, s. A sinful birth, பாவப் பிறப்பு. பாவவாளி, s. A sinner, பாவி. (Colloq.) பாவவிநாசம், s. Expiation of sin, பா வமன்னிப்பு. 2. A sacred bathing place, ஓர்தீர்த்தம். 3. A sacred place, ஓர்ஸ்தலம். பாவாத்துமா, s. A sinful soul, the result of the evils of former births. 2. A sinner, one given to evil practices. பாவி, s. [mas. and fem.] A sinner, a perpetrator of evil deeds. 2. One suffering for the evils of former births, தீவினையனுபவிப்போன். 3.
