pṭi (p. 291) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To read, to recite, வாசிக்க. (சது.) 2. To learn, to study; to repeat in order, to commit to memory, கற்க. 3. To chant, to sing--as verses, sacred books, dramatic writings, &c., பாட. [ex Sa. Put'ha, to recite or read.] 4. (vul.) To practise, to habituate one's self, to learn or practice an art, பழக (c.) படிக்கக்கள்ளம்பண்ணுதல். v. noun. Playing truant as a scholar. படிக்கும்பிள்ளை, s. A schoolboy, a student. படித்தவன், appel. n. [neg. படியாதவ ன். A learned person. படித்துக்காட்ட, inf. To quote a verse by singing it. 2. To show how a verse should be chanted. 3. To sing and expound. 4. To recite at an exhibition. படித்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To learn, to practise an art. 2. To become a scholar or a proficient. களவுபடித்துக்கொண்டான். He has learned to be unfaithful, or deceptive. படிப்பு, v. noun. Reading, recitation, வாசிப்பு. 2. Learning, study, repetition, instruction, inculcation, கல்வி. 3. Chanting, singing, பாடுகை. 4.
