añcu (p. 7) கிறேன், அஞ்சினேன், வேன், அஞ்ச, v. a. [used with the dative, sometimes with the accusative.] To fear, dread, பயப்பட, as அவனுக்கஞ்சுகிறேன், I fear him; அவனையஞ்சினான். He feared him. அஞ்சல், v. noun. Fearing, dreading, பயப்படல், Also the optative, வியங் கோண்முற்று. 2. Defeat, தோல்வி. அஞ்சாப்பட்டயம், s. [prov.] A certificate from the king, formerly inscribed on metal, clearing a man from the charge of guilt and re-establishing his rights as a citizen; a writ of authority, a security against oppression or ill-treatment. 3. A passport or writ of protection in passing through a country, தத்துவபரிபாலனபத்திரம். அஞ்சாமை, neg. v. noun. Fearlessness, கலங்காமை. 44)

cāmpirāṇi (p. 177) s. (Tel. ஸா்ராணி.) Frankincense, Benzoin or Benjamin styrux, தூபவர்க்கத்தொன்று. (c.) சாம்பிராணித்தயிலம், s. Oil of frankincense. சாம்பிராணித்தூபம், s. Offering frankincense in worship. சாம்பிராணிப்புகை, s. Burning frankincense, for medical or other purposes. சாம்பிராணிப்பதங்கம், s. [prov.] A kind of medicine; also a kind of perfume of which one of the chief ingredients is frankincense. See பதங்கம். சாம்பிராணிப்பட்டயம், s. [loc.] A perfumed deed of gift to a pagoda, &c. சாம்பிராணிவர்த்தி, s. [loc.] A fragrant stick or wick for burning to diffuse its odor. சாம்பிராணிகாட்ட, inf. To burn frankincense so as to perfume any thing, as is commonly done in ஆயுதபூசை. சாம்பிராணிபோட, inf. To burn or offer incense. பறங்கிச்சாம்பிராணி, s. Another kind of Benzoin, Olibanum. Madras usage. மலாக்காச்சாம்பிராணி--மடைச்சாம்பி ராணி, s. A sweeter kind of frankincense. மடயசாம்பிராணி, s. A dolt. See மட யன். (c.) 62)

cempu (p. 204) s. Copper, தாம்பிரம். 2. (Tel. சஎு.) A small metal-pot. commonly of copper, used as a drinking cup, நீரருந்துஞ்செம்பு--Note. In combination it often becomes செப்பு. செம்புக்கம்பி--செம்புக்கம்பி, s. Copper wire. செம்புக்கடாரம், s. A copper boiler. செப்புக்குடம், s. A copper water-pot. செப்புக்குழாய், s. A copper tube for a gutter, &c. 2. A little copper tube, with covers at both ends, to enclose magical diagrams. செப்புக்கோட்டை, s. The fort of Ravana, mythologically said to have been made of copper, இராவணன்கோட்டை. செப்புச்சட்டி, s. A copper pan. செப்புச்சல்லி-செம்புச்சல்லி, s. [prov.] Copper challies, one-third of a pice. செப்புச்சிலை, s. An idol, a copper statue. 2. A copper colored stone, மரந் தளிர்க்கல். செப்புத்தகடு, s. Copper in plates. செப்புத்தூண், s. Pillars of copper. செப்புத்தொட்டி, s. A copper trough. 2. (R.) A kind of arsenic, செந்தொட்டி. செப்புப்படி, s. Copper measure. செப்புப்பட்டயம், s. Engraving on copper--as royal grants, &c. செப்புப்பாத்திரம், s. Copper vessel. செப்புப்பாளம்--செம்புப்பாளம், s. Copper in bars. செம்பூசி, s. A copper needle; sometimes used as an instrument of torture thrust into the fingers. செப்போடு, s. Tiles of copper, used for roofing, (temples, &c.) செம்பிலேதண்ணீர்கொடுக்க, inf. To hand the water pot to the guests to rinse their mouths, as a notice that food is ready. செம்புக்களிம்பு, s. Verdigris of copper. செம்புக்காசு-செம்புநாணயம், s. Copper coins. See காசு. செம்புப்பற்று, s. Alloy of copper in gold. செம்புமலை, s. A mountain with copper ore. செம்பூறல், v. noun. [prov.] Oxidation of copper. செம்பூறிப்போக, inf. To be tainted-as milk, &c., by being kept in a copper pot. Compare களிம்பூற. செம்புமணல், s. Sand containing copper. அபிஷேகச்செம்பு, s. A copper pot, used in anointing an idol, in private worship. கொட்டுச்செம்பு, s. A copper pot made by beating instead of casting. ஈயச்செம்பு, s. A leaden pot. கெண்டிச்செம்பு, s. A brass pot with a nose. See கெண்டி. பன்னீர்ச்செம்பு, s. A pot for sprinkling rose water. வார்ப்புச்செம்பு, s. A cast copper-pot. 2. Cast copper, not very malleable. வெண்கலச்செம்பு, s. A pot of வெண் கலம். வெள்ளிச்செம்பு, s. A silver pot used in temples, &c. வன்னச்செம்பு, s. A kind of brass pot, inlaid with copper, of superior workmanship, made at Combaconum. கொத்துவேலைச்செம்பு, s.
