uṇṭi (p. 59) s. Food, sustenance, eatables, உணவு. 2. Boiled rice, சோறு. 3. The food of carnivorous animals, இரை. (நிகண்டு and திவாகரம்.) 4. (பாரதிதீ.) The food of birds and beasts in general, பற வைவிலங்கிவற்றினுணவு. Four kinds of eating are enumerated, viz.: 1. உண்டல், eating without mastication--as boiled rice, &c. 2. தின்றல், masticating, chewing--as meat, curries, &c. 3. நக்கல், licking--as honey, molasses, lapping. 4. பருகல், drinking, sucking--as a child. Sometimes a fifth is added, viz.: மென்றல், chewing--as spices, pungents, leaves, &c. kept in the mouth. உண்டிசுருங்குதல்பெண்டிர்க்கழகு. It is becoming in a woman to eat little. பேருண்டி, s. A principal meal-as dinner, &c., போசனம். 2. Eating to excess, gluttony, gormandizing, பெருந் தீன். சிற்றுண்டி, s. A light meal--as luncheon, tiffin, பலகாரம். 2. Eating sparingly, சிறுதீன். 3. A kind of small cake, அப்பவருக்கத்தொன்று. 122)

uruṇṭai (p. 65) s. A ball, a bowl, a globe, any thing round, உண்டை. 2. Roundness, globularness, திரட்சி. உருண்டைப்பலகாரம், s. Balls of cake, rounds of cake. உருண்டையுருட்ட, inf. To form balls of clay, boiled rice, &c., to make pills. 18) *

palakāram (p. 301) s. Pastry, confectionery, அப்பவர்க்கம். 2. Stores, provisions for a journey, தின்பண்டமுதலியவை. (c.) 3. Seat for riding on an elephant, யானைமேற்றவிசு. 4. [ex பலம், fruit.] Dessert after food, of fruits, &c., last course at table, பழவூண். பலகாரபக்ஷணம், s. Eating cakes. பலகாரம்பண்ண, inf. To eat pastries. 2. To bake cakes, &c. அவன்எமனைப்பலகாரம்பண்ணுவான். He will make pastry of Yama. 14)
