To prey on the life of a person, or animal--as a demon, supposed to happen through exposure in a crossway, at midday, midnight, &c. பலியேற்க, inf. pli (p. 301) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To take effect, to yield results or fruit, to succeed, வாய்க்க. 2. To produce good or evil, as trade, &c., as இலபிக்க; [ex பலம்.] ஒன்றாயிரமாய்ப்பலிக்கும். One will produce a thousand. மருந்துபலிக்கவில்லை. The medicine did not take effect. பலித்தபயிர், s. A thriving crop. பலித்தல்--பலிப்பு, v. noun. Advantage; good or bad result. 2. Profit, success, பயன். 3. Result of good or evil deeds as experienced in this life, நன்மைதீ மைகளின்பலிப்பு.-- Note. The compounds in common use are: கற்புப்பலித்தல், the taking effect of the curse of a chaste woman violated; சாபம்பலித்தல், taking effect of the curse of a devotee; சூனியம் பலித்தல், witchcraft taking effect; நியாயம் பலித்தல், arguments approving and convincing. 57) *
