Areca-nut, betel-nut, துவர்க் காய், Areca catechu.--The different preparations of areca-nuts are அலகுபாக்கு or சாலியம்பாக்கு, களிப்பாக்கு, கொட்டைப்பாக்கு, வெட் டைப்பாக்கு, கூர்சீவினபாக்கு, தெற்கம்பாக்கு, ஆரங் கம்பாக்கு. பாக்களவு, s. To pound areca-nut, betel-leaf, &c., in a mortar for old people. பாக்குப்பறித்தல், v. noun. Snatching betel-nut from the friends of the bridegroom, by a rival lover, at the bride's house; deemed an insult similar to taking away the bride. பாக்குப்பிளவு, s. A slice or arecanut. பாக்குப்புரையேற, inf. To cough from obstructions in the throat, in chewing the areca-nut. பாக்குப்பை--பாக்குவெற்றிலைப்பை, s. A betel-pouch. பாக்குப்போட, inf. To take betel, as தாம்பூலம்போட. பாக்குவெட்டி, appel. n. A kind of scissors for cutting areca-nuts in slices. பாக்குவெற்றிலை, s. Areca-nut, and betel. See பாக்குப்பை. பாக்குவெற்றிலைக்கூட்டு, s.
