kẕutai (p. 98) s. An ass, கத்தபம். 2. (c.) A dolt, மூடன். 3. (p.) The sign of the sixth guardian of the eight angles or points of the world. வடமேற்றிசைப்பாலன்குறி. கழுதைப்புண்ணுக்குப்புழுதிமருந்து. Dust is the medicine for an ass's wounds; i. e. for the poor any thing serves for medicine. கழுதையுங்குதிரையும்பிணைந்தாற்போலே. Illmatched--as an ass and horse. கழுதைக்கரணம், s. [in astrology.] One of the eleven தைதுலாகரணம். கழுதைக்குடத்தி--கழுதைப்புலி, s. A hyena, புலிக்குடத்தி. கழுதைக்குட்டி--கழுதைமறி, s. A young ass. கழுதைநிறம், s. Grey, the color of an ass. கழுதைக்குணம்--கழுதையாட்டம், Stupidity. கழுதைத்திசை, s. [in astrology.] The north-west quarter, வடமேற்றிசை. கழுதைமயிர்பிடுங்கியூர், s. A country where they pluck off the hair of the ass; i. e. doing as others do without reason. கழுதைவாகனி, s. The goddess of ill-luck, மூதேவி. கழுதைவிட்டை, s. Ass's dung. கழுதைவிட்டையாயினுங்கைநிறையவிருந்தாற்போ தும். If the hand is full though with nothing but ass's dung. It is enough; i. e. get a great quantity. கோவேறுகழுதை, s. Mule. 79)

kākam (p. 103) s. A crow, காக்கை. 2. The sign of the guardian of the north-east, வடகீழ்த்திசைப்பாலன்குறி. Wils. p. 25. KAKA. 3. Mongoose, கீரி. (M. Dic) காகங்கரைய, inf. [in augury.] To caw as a crow, prognosticating fortune to the person according to the length of his shadow at the time, காகங்கூவ. See சகுனம். காகச்சிலை, s. A load stone, being black, கருமுகிற்சிலை. காகச்சுக்கான், s. A black marble, கருஞ்சுக்கான். காகதாளியம்--காகதாளிநியாயம், s. An unforeseen occurrence, accident; [ex காகம், crow, et தாளி, palmyra fruit, et நியா யம், law.]--a crow lights upon the fruit of the palmyra tree and the fruit falls-a chance, coincidence. The distance of a yojana, யோசனைதூரம். (சது.) புகைகட்ட, inf. To smoke, to fumigate parts of the body, for local ailments, as for tooth-ache, impaired gums, &c. 2. [fig.] To impart a gold or silver color by fumigation. புகைகாட்ட, inf. To smoke, to fumigate for a disease. 2. To expel flies, devils, &c., by fumigation. 3. To apply or infuse incense. 4. To tincture or impregnate with smoke. புகைகுடித்தல்--புகையிலைகுடித்தல், v. noun. Smoking tobacco. புகைக்கப்பல், s. A steam vessel. புகைக்காடு, s. A great smoke, a thick mist, a fog. புகைக்கூடு, s. A chimney. 2. A balloon. புகைக்கூண்டு, s. An explosive shell thrown from a mortar, or the hand; a rocket. புகைசுற்றுதல்--புகைசூழுதல், v. noun. Being smoked, as food. புகைச்சுருட்டு, s. A cigar. புகைநாற்றம்--புகைமணம், s. Smell of smoke. புகைபடுதல்--புகைபிடித்தல்--புகையுண் ணல், v. noun. Being smoked, having a smoky taste or smell. 2. Being discolored, blackened, &c., with smoke. புகைப்படலம், s. An expanse or volume of smoke, vapor, tog, cloud. புகைப்பரண், s. A loft over a fireplace for placing things on, that are to be smoked. புகையிலை, s. [vul. பொயிலை.] A leaf of tobacco; (lit.) the smoke-leaf.--The different sorts of tobacco are, வேதாரணி யத்துப்புகையிலை, a superior kind of tobacco cultivated at Vedaranyam; பந்தர்புகையிலை, Bunder tobacco, or that of Masulipatam; காம்புப்புகையிலை, tobacco strung on a line; மேலைமங்கலத்துப்புகையிலை, the best kind from Melaimangalam. புகையிலைகட்டுதல், v. noun. Making up packs of tobacco. 2. Laying up tobacco. புகையிலைகுடித்தல்--புகையுண்ணல், v. noun. Smoking tobacco. புகையிலைக்கறள், s. The soot of the tobacco, &c. See கறள். புகையிலைச்சிப்பம், s. A pack of tobacco. புகையிலைச்சுருட்டு--புகையிலைச்சுற்று, s. Tobacco-roll, cigar. புகையிலைபோடுதல். Chewing tobacco. புகையிலைப்பொடி, s. Snuff. புகையூட்டுதல், v. noun. Smoking, fumigating the hair with odors, perfuming. 2. Tincturing, impregnating or medicating with smoke. புகையூதுதல். Forcing the ripening of fruit by fumigation, பழுக்கச்செய்தல். 2. Gilding. புகையூரல்--புகையூறல்--புகையுறை, s. Condensed smoke, as ஒட்டடை. (c.) புகைவிடுதல், v. noun. Whiffing, emitting smoke from the mouth, &c. நறும்புகை--பூம்புகை, s. Perfumed incense, smoke.
