pūṇ (p. 330) --பூணு, கிறேன், பூண்டேன், பூண் பேன், பூணுவேன், பூண, v. a. or v. n. To put on, have on; to be adorned with; to wear arms or the brahmanical string, தரி க்க. 2. To be fettered, manacled, shackled, மாட்டப்பட. 3. To be yoked, harnessed, &c., as பூட்டப்பட. 4. To take upon, undertake a business, a course of duties, &c. துணிய. 5. To become involved in, as blame, crime, guilt, குற்றப்பட. 6. To become entangled, as a lock, to be caught, as birds in snare, &c., சிக்கிக்கொள்ள. 7. To take a dye, சாயந்தோய்க்கப்பட. 8. To be got as learning, knowledge, அடைய. விரதம்பூண, inf. To enter up on fasting, or the performance of any vow. பூணுநூல்--பூணூல், s. The brahman's string. பூணூற்கலியாணம், s.
