pēṇu (p. 335) --பேண், கிறேன், பேணினேன், பேணுவேன், பேண, v. a. To take great care of, to treat tenderly, to pamper, பராமரிக்க. 2. To cherish, foster, nurture, tend, ஓம்ப. 3. To regard, esteem, value, appreciate, respect, honor, நன்குமதிக்க. 4. To protect, secure, காக்க. 5. To wish for, to desire greatly, ஆசைபெருக. 6. To purpose, think, கருத. 7. To mark out, indicate, குறிக்க; [from Sa. Pen'a, to embrace.] பேணரவு, v. noun. [sometimes பேணல்.] Great desire; esteeming. பேணார்--பேணலர், appel. n. Foes, பகைவர். (p.) கர்த்தரைப்பேண, inf.
